Trump said Gettysburg was a "beautiful thing." Fifty thousand Americans died in that battle.
And General Robert E. Lee NEVER said that. R.E. Lee is not in favor anymore because he fought against the United States of America: he was by any definition a traitor.
Donald Trump knows NOTHING about Robert E. Lee, the Battle of Gettysburg, or ANY American history.
DJ Trump is a bullshi**er of the first order.
And his cultists love every stupid thing he says because either they're as functionally illiterate as he is or they enjoy being bamboozled by the charlatan.

Yup, it's evident why trump prefers the uneducated and least informed.
What is unbelievable is the number of seemingly intelligent folks that apparently support and voted for this ignorant fool.
Dude just might win the EC again in 2024. Paving the way for donnie jr. to take over the charades going forward.
I'm sure what Trump saw as "so beautiful" at the Battle of Gettysburg was the number of Confederate flags his racist neo-Confederate MAGA cult loves to display and carry into insurrections.
There were indeed over 50,000 casualties. From Britannica:
https://www.britannica.com/biography/James-Longstreet
Losses were among the war’s heaviest: of about 94,000 Northern troops, casualties numbered about 23,000 (with more than 3,100 killed); of more than 71,000 Southerners, there were about 28,000 casualties (with some 3,900 killed).
Les and Dave Dubya
Trump blathered nonsensical gobbledegook because he knows nothing about Gettysburg or any American history; but, as I wrote, neither do his cultists, so they clapped and cheered for him and his stupid comments.
When I went to Gettysburg I was stunned at how I felt, what I was experiencing. It was hallowed ground. I didn't know all the particulars of the battle, it was not part of my schooling. But taking the time to learn some of it while there only heightened my sense of what happened there.
I'm not offended by what Trump had to say about Gettysburg, arguably the greatest battle ever to take place on American soil. Certainly the deadliest.
I'm offended that a man who obviously does not know the history of Gettysburg has also never apparently taken the time to learn it. And then that that same man would be a candidate for president from one of the two major parties in the US.
And beloved by many.
Jimmy Kimmel had the speech written out on his blackboard and then read it to the audience. It almost was worse seeing it written. We all see the cognitive decline. We all see how he looks horrible, his new bronzer is more mud than bronze and keeps forgetting that we can see his ears. Has he heard of a blending sponge?
Trump celebrates Gettysburg but wouldn't visit the graves in France of US Marines killed in WWI? When someone tells you who they are, believe them.
When I was young I was an avid reader of Civil War history.
Fact ONE: It was about SLAVERY.
Fact TWO: Racist Southerners were Democrats and then secessionists, but are MAGA Republicans now. They are the ONLY racist idiots who fly the Confederate Flag.

Sarah Palin, with Sean Hannity's coaching of course because she's an idiot, would beg to differ with you Dave. Which only proves how correct your statement about the Civil War is.
Dave M., Grey One talks sass, Joe "Truth 101" Kelly
Trump's uninformed and bizarre statements on Gettysburg point to his appalling lack of knowledge of our American history. But his ignorance never stops him from blathering about what he doesn't know, using a word salad to dazzle his equally uninformed cultists.
Fact ONE: It was about SLAVERY.
Fact TWO: Racist Southerners were Democrats and then secessionists, but are MAGA Republicans now. They are the ONLY racist idiots who fly the Confederate Flag.
Fact 1 - It was about tariffs.

So what did Trump mean when he quoted "Never fight uphill..." Ever been to Little Round Top?
You Yankees do remember the "no taxation w/o representation" cries in 1768? Didn't THAT ultimately result in a Confederacy (Articles of Confederation), too?
Only witholding a few of the presented FACTS today, pShaw?
BS.
Not equivalent. But delude on.

-FJ, you can have your own opinions, but you can't have your own facts.
The first to secede from the United States, South Carolina's Declaration of Secession (1860):
"[T]he State of South Carolina having resumed her separate and equal place among nations, deems it due to herself, to the remaining United States of America, and to the nations of the world, that she should declare the immediate causes which have led to this act….
[A]n increasing hostility on the part of the non-slaveholding States to the institution of slavery, has led to a disregard of their obligations, and the laws of the General Government have ceased to effect the objects of the Constitution. The States of Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New York, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Wisconsin and Iowa, have enacted laws which either nullify the Acts of Congress or render useless any attempt to execute them. In many of these States the fugitive is discharged from service or labor claimed..."
Mississippi's Declaration of Secession from the United States:
A Declaration of the Immediate Causes which Induce and Justify the Secession of the State of Mississippi from the Federal Union.
In the momentous step which our State has taken of dissolving its connection with the government of which we so long formed a part, it is but just that we should declare the prominent reasons which have induced our course.
Our position is thoroughly identified with the institution of slavery-- the greatest material interest of the world. Its labor supplies the product which constitutes by far the largest and most important portions of commerce of the earth. These products are peculiar to the climate verging on the tropical regions, and by an imperious law of nature, none but the black race can bear exposure to the tropical sun. These products have become necessities of the world, and a blow at slavery is a blow at commerce and civilization. That blow has been long aimed at the institution, and was at the point of reaching its consummation. There was no choice left us but submission to the mandates of abolition, or a dissolution of the Union, whose principles had been subverted to work out our ruin."
Your claim is b.s., and any serious student of history knows it as such. Stop deluding yourself. It's unhealthy.
Alabama's Declaration of Secession from the United States:
"Ordinance of Secession, adopted by the Alabama constitutional convention of 1861.
Description
The ordinance declares that "that the State of Alabama now withdraws, and is hereby withdrawn from the Union known as the United States of America, and henceforth ceases to be one of said United States, and is, and of right ought to be a Sovereign and Independent State." It also proposes the creation of a new government among states with similar interests: "And as it is the desire and purpose of the people of Alabama to meet the slaveholding states of the South who may approve such purpose in order to frame a provisional as well as permanent Government upon the principles of the Constitution of the United States."
Confederate States of America - Georgia Secession
The people of Georgia having dissolved their political connection with the Government of the United States of America, present to their confederates and the world the causes which have led to the separation. For the last ten years we have had numerous and serious causes of complaint against our non-slave-holding confederate States with reference to the subject of African slavery. They have endeavored to weaken our security, to disturb our domestic peace and tranquility, and persistently refused to comply with their express constitutional obligations to us in reference to that property, and by the use of their power in the Federal Government have striven to deprive us of an equal enjoyment of the common Territories of the Republic. This hostile policy of our confederates has been pursued with every circumstance of aggravation which could arouse the passions and excite the hatred of our people, and has placed the two sections of the Union for many years past in the condition of virtual civil war.
-FJ "Part 2 - The Confederate flag symbolizes rebellion, not slavery."
What did the Confederates stand for?
In 1860 and 1861, eleven southern states seceded from the United States to protect the institution of slavery, forming the Confederate States of America and sparking the U.S. Civil War. After the war, their flag was adopted as a symbol of Southern heritage at the same time as it represented slavery and white supremacy.
William Porcher Miles designed the Confederate Flag.
Miles denied the concept of inalienable rights and maintained that liberty was an "Acquired Privilege." He argued that "Men are born neither Free nor Equal" and some men were born with the innate ability to earn liberty while others were not.
Government should not attempt to either "make a Statesman of him who God intended should be a Ploughman" or "bind down forever to the plough him to whom God has given a mind capable of shaping the destinies of a People." From this point on in his career, Miles rejected the political legitimacy of abolitionists and free-soilers and responded to any attempts to restrict slavery with a call for secession.
Wrong, again, -FJ.
All casus belli are parallel constructions. And by withholding the facts that support my argument, you confirm it.
-FJ the Dangerous and Extreme MAGA Jew said... "So what did Trump mean when he quoted "Never fight uphill..." Ever been to Little Round Top?"
I've read about the Battle of Gettysburg and one of its greatest heroes, Joshua Chamberlain.
If you believe for a SECOND that Trump knew what he was talking about, I have an autographed Bible and some golden sneakers I'd like to sell you.
"Never fight uphill me boys!" (Robert E. Lee at Gettysburg) is one of those great military quotes along with "Never fight in le muck, mes garcons" (Charles VI. at Agincourt) and "Never fight in ze snow, meine jungs" (Adolf Hitler at Stalingrad).
LOL!
Trump's stupidity is mind-numbing.
Trump graduated from NY Military Academy? You don't think he knew about GETTYSBURG? BWAH!
And ps, if it hadn't been for great Southern leaders, sons of the Institution of Slavery and the Aristocracy that it supported, America today would be but 50 unremarkable British colonies.
I've read about the Battle of Gettysburg and one of its greatest heroes, Joshua Chamberlain.
The LUCKY fool standing at the TOP of Little Round Top?
Kremlin agent and pathological liar -FJ has admitted the Confederate flag is about the rebellion of slave owners, aka treason.
It is the flag of white supremacist insurrectionists past and present, and they are his and Putin's kind of Americans.

-FJ the Dangerous and Extreme MAGA Jew said... I've read about the Battle of Gettysburg and one of its greatest heroes, Joshua Chamberlain.
"The LUCKY fool standing at the TOP of Little Round Top?"
Unlike Trumpty Dumpty, General Chamberlain is and will be remembered for his courage, valor, and human decency.
Anyone who knows the Civil War history of Little Round Top during the Battle of Gettysburg likely remembers the name of the man who held the hill, Army Maj. Gen. Joshua Chamberlain. His actions July 2, 1863, were pivotal to the Union winning that crucial battle, and, years later, they earned him the Medal of Honor.
Afterward, Chamberlain was nicknamed the "Lion of Little Round Top," and he continued to move up in the ranks. In June 1864, he was commanding a brigade at the siege of Petersburg, Virginia, when he was seriously injured in the hip and groin. He survived and, after months of hospitalizations, returned to the battlefield in November 1864 as a brigadier general.
When the war ended, Chamberlain was chosen to receive the Confederate surrender of arms at Appomattox Courthouse in Virginia. According to the National Park Service, the then-brevet major general "ordered his men to attention as the Confederates passed as a sign of respect for their defeated foe."
"The LUCKY fool standing at the TOP of Little Round Top?"

Democrats every one.

True. They WERE Conservative Democrats who were against the Lincoln Liberal, anti-slavery Republicans.
WERE.
Now they're Conservative, White Nationalists who support an adjudicated sexual assaulter/rapist who's been criminally charged with 88 felony indictments.
The ONLY former-POTUS and current Republican presidential candidate facing criminal charges, wholly supported by the PRESENT Republican Party!
What a legacy for the Republican Party!

S.K.: It's not what I "think," it what he argled-bargled that showed he's a know-NOTHING, functioning illiterate. Remember when someone asked him what he thought about Frederick Douglass?
“Frederick Douglass is an example of somebody who's done an amazing job and is being recognized more and more, I notice.”
Functioning illiteracy at its finest. Those words could be descriptive of ANYONE! LOL! It's a good bet that was the first time he ever heard the name, Frederick Douglass.
-FJ: "And ps, if it hadn't been for great Southern leaders, sons of the Institution of Slavery and the Aristocracy that it supported, America today would be but 50 unremarkable British colonies."
Nah. 620,000 Americans wouldn't have lost their lives, and African-Americans wouldn't have been tortured, maimed, and hanged because of Jim Crow laws instituted by those "great" Southern leaders.

-FJ thinks Trump paid attention in his 11th grade US history class at New York Military Academy, where he was knows as a spoiled rich bully. LOL!!
Yeah, that one class is his entire US history "education". I had a US history class in 11th grade too, so I'm just as much an expert, right?
Not exactly. I was a an avid reader of Civil War and military history long before and after 11th grade. Trump was never known to read a book other than one of Hitler's speeches.
Neo-Confederate -FJ will always defend Southern racists. He doesn't know or care that the South was far more loyalist than the North in the Revolutionary War.
https://www.battlefields.org/learn/articles/king-georges-southern-soldiers
King George's Southern Soldiers
Loyalist Soldiers in the South
Southern Loyalists militias fought in almost every major engagement in the south.
Like his "stable genius" authoritarian hero, -FJ will ignore every fact that debunks his lies.
-FJ/Joe Con doesn't want us to know ONLY TRUMP'S CULT flies the Confederate flag.
Like -FJ/Joe, they're actually PROUD of their racist and treasonous "heritage".

LMAO!
Now trumpubliscum through and through.
But actually shifted in 1965 when the racist southern democrats all turned republican.
Brave American patriots are "Losers and suckers", amirite, neo-Confederate -FJ?
You really think that I'd call my GGF a "loser" and a "sucker"?
Civil War Veteran. Served in the 10th Independent Company, Ohio Volunteer Sharpshooters which was redesignated the 60th Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry. He enlisted in the 10th OVSS March 20, 1864 and was transferred to Company H, 60th O.V.I. February 24, 1865. He was mustered out June 17, 1865. His name is on Panel #10 in the Cuyahoga County Soldiers' and Sailors' Monument in Cleveland.
That is, provided that the monument hasn't been torn down yet.
btw - When you read Aeschylus' Seven Against Thebes, who did YOU root for. Cleon or Antigone?
-FJ the Dangerous and Extreme MAGA Jew said... "btw - When you read Aeschylus' Seven Against Thebes, who did YOU root for. Cleon or Antigone?"
I'm with Antigone. She defied Cleon and buried her brother. But alas, when Cleon realized his mistake (imprisoning Antigone), Antigone had killed herself.
I know Jean Anhuil's play, "Antigone," because years ago I was in a local theater production and played Antigone's sister, Ismene.
Well, whadayaknow? -FJ disagrees with Trump about "losers and suckers".
But can he he denounce Trump for saying it? Probably not.
But he and I do have something in common, if he's telling the truth.
We each have ancestors who served in Union blue. Mine was in the 193rd Ohio Infantry Regiment. He died in service and defense of the United States of America against treasonous CONSERVATIVE Southerners who started a war to preserve slavery.
Now neo-Confederate -FJ rallies behind the racists and insurrectionists who wave that flag of rebellions and racism.
He betrays our country AND his own ancestor. No shame. No honor. He serves Trump and Putin now.
You side with Antigone? So why would you tear down a monument to Polyneices then, his gravestone? Were you afraid that buried without a stake through his heart, he'd rise again or that some Voodoo Witch Doctor would dig him up in put him in Caligari's cabinet?
People in America should be allowed to honour their dead. This isn't Thebes and Biden isn't Creon
And Dave, the Union didn't give 2 sh*ts about abolishing slavery (except as an afterthought). I currently live on the grounds of former Maryland Plantation unaffected by Lincoln's "Emancipation Proclamation" (1/1/63) until the MD State Constitution abolished the practice on 11/1/64. Evidently, the Union was "perfectly fine" with slavery, so long as it served their ends.
...if the war had REALLY been about slavery, don't you think that abolishing slavery would have been their 1st act, and NOT their LAST?
...as a belated act of redemption for the deaths of 650k+ Americans who died over tariffs that gouged Southerners?
Jeebus, Joe Conservative, read a history book!
There were a number of reasons why.
Article 1, Section 9, Clause 1, is one of a handful of provisions in the original Constitution related to slavery, though it does not use the word “slave.”
This Clause prohibited the federal government from limiting the importation of “persons” (understood at the time to mean primarily enslaved African persons) where the existing state governments saw fit to allow it, until some twenty years after the Constitution took effect. It was a compromise between Southern states, where slavery was pivotal to the economy, and states where the abolition of slavery had been accomplished or was contemplated.
Even though Lincoln came to personally abhorred slavery, he felt limited by his constitutional authority as president to challenge slavery only in the context of necessary war measures. He also worried about the reactions of those in the loyal border states where slavery was still legal.
Lincoln was persuaded by his Secy, of State, William Seward, to wait until the Union had won a significant battlefield victory. The Union forces had just repulsed an attack by Lee's forces at the Battle of Antietam, which Lincoln saw as the sign that the time had come for the Proclamation.
Lincoln issued the preliminary Emancipation Proclamation in the midst of the Civil War, announcing on September 22, 1862, that if the rebels did not end the fighting and rejoin the Union by January 1, 1863, all slaves in the rebellious states would be free.
Why didn't the Proclamation cover Maryland's slaves then? Hmmmm?
-FJ/Joe Con is determined to embrace and double downed on racist neo-Confederate dishonor.
Before the war the slave states tried to expand slavery in the western territories and rebelled to keep slavery. Like every authoritarian racist he must whitewash history and deny the facts.
Did I say he's a racist? No, but every damn neo-Confederate and neo-Nazi racist agrees with him. As I said. Dishonor.
What's next from this Kremlin agent. "Hitler did a lot of good things"? Apparently he can't even disagree with Trump on that.
Cue, "But the autobahn and military/industrial expansion with SLAVE LABOR were GOOD things, and he made Germany great again".
I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if he had a Nazi swastika flag hanging in his basement with his Confederate flag.
Couldn't Lincoln just "habeas corpus" it through the MD State Legislature like he did in preventing the Succession vote?
The tyrant's heel is on thy shore... oh Maryland, My Maryland!
-FJ the Dangerous and Extreme MAGA Jew said... "Why didn't the Proclamation cover Maryland's slaves then? Hmmmm?"
Because it applied only to states that had seceded from the Union, leaving slavery untouched in the loyal border states.
It also expressly exempted parts of the Confederacy that had already come under Northern control. Most important, the freedom it promised depended upon Union military victory.
It's the exception that proves the rule.
Neither would i. He'll probably be one of the first to sign on to be a brown shirt storm trooper is service to his Fuhrer.
FJ is sticking with the War of Northern Aggression. Keep fighting uphill, me boy.
Keep "going along to get along" Craig. You'll soon end up like the Republican minority. Irrelevant.
Soon trump, you, and the trumpublican party at large will be irrelevant. You're well on your way.
So to sum up -FJ's political leanings:
He's all in with the guy who said, "Hitler did a lot of good things" and US KIAs are "suckers and losers".
He has no criticism for his political ally and Trump dinner guest Nick Fuentes, famous for saying, “And now they’re going on about Russia and ‘Vladimir Putin is Hitler’ — they say that’s not a good thing...a round of applause for Russia!”
Also from Fuentes, telling Jews to "get out fuck out of America": "You serve the devil. You serve Satan. ... I piss on your Talmud...There are too many nonwhite people in the country. People like abortion. Hate it, but it’s true. And you can thank the Jewish media for that. Abortion’s popular, sodomy’s popular, you know, being gay is popular, being a feminist is popular, sex out of wedlock is popular. Contraception is—it's all popular. That’s not to say it’s good. That’s not to say I like that. Popular means the people support it. They do.
And it sucks, and it is what it is, but that’s why we need dictatorship."
"He gets me,” Trump said of his dinner guest Fuentes, the New York Times and Axios both reported.
-FJ "gets him" too.
Racist neo-Confederates and neo-Nazis are his allies, and Democrats are the villains. This is his position.
I could easily believe "Sic semper tyrannis" is his favorite Civil War slogan, and the last Democrat he cared about was probably George Wallace.
I wonder which person posing as my maga Jewish friend is on this thread. I won't delve any deeper into the multiple personalities that seem to post under that moniker as I find all of them tedious. But still guys, it's pretty obvious there is more than one of you and you pause typing your comments to Google something so you seem somewhat educated. Although you do lift most of your ignorance pretending to be insights from a scattering of right wing websites that feed you the nonsense you crave. You're like cats desperate for catnip.
