WHY ARE THESE PEOPLE LAUGHING AT RICHARD HOLBROOKE'S MEMORIAL SERVICE?

I wondered, too, why Presidents Obama and Clinton and Secretary of State Clinton would be laughing at an otherwise solemn occasion.

A blogger known for detesting all things liberal and all things Obama placed these photos up on his blog with the implication that Presidents Obama and Clinton and Secy. of State Clinton were disrespectfully yukking it up at the Holbrooke memorial.

However, when we dig further for what is really going on, we find that they were probably reacting to a humorous anecdote the former UN Secretary-General, Kofi Annan, was relating about the deceased.

"If any anecdote captured the indefatigable Holbrooke it was the one told by Annan, who led the U.N. when Holbrooke was ambassador there. Annan drew laughter when he recalled how Holbrooke managed to persuade then-Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Jesse Helms to relent and permit the United States to pay its dues to the world body. First, Holbrooke arranged for the conservative senator to address the Security Council. “What I did not realize was that part of the deal was that I should go and speak at Jesse Helms’s alma mater,” said Annan, who made the trek to tiny Wingate, N.C., to speak at the Jesse Helms Center at Wingate University. Bill Clinton echoed the anecdote, wondering aloud how Holbrooke got Helms to cough up funding for the international organization he had long criticized.

That, said Annan, was “the beauty and the power of Richard’s unique brand of diplomacy.”
Admiral Mike Mullen, chairman of the joint chiefs of staff:

"A Holbrooke book could include a chapter titled "How to Win Friends and Tick Off Everybody Else," Mullen said, drawing peals of laughter from an audience that chuckled far more than it sniffled during the two-hour memorial."

Apparently the blogger who placed these photos on his blog has never been to a memorial service or wake where the people who knew the deceased engaged in telling humorous stories about the one who has passed away. The blogger is either naive or deliberately trying to make the past president, the current president and the secretary of state look like despicable miscreants, by misrepresenting what is actually happening at the service.

It was a feeble attempt to smear the two presidents and secretary of state, but worse is that a lot of unhinged bloggers can't seem to give up their crusades to demonize President Obama and his administration, despite the call from both conservatives and liberals to turn down the rhetoric.

Here are the comments from this blogger's followers:

I will contine to document the vicious falsehoods and misrepresentations that these conservative blogs continue to disseminate. These facts indisputably refute the cheap lies and disinformation these people continue to spread.

As for this blogger's effort to portray President Obama, President Clinton, and Secretary of State Clinton as disrespectful?

MAJOR FAIL

Perhaps the blogger you mention fears that when he comes to the end of his life there will be much humor and good will amongst those who know him well.

I saw this despicable bloggers post and the moronic comment from the moron followers. I wondered if these pictures were truly from the memorial service, did you verify that Shaw? I thought maybe he pulled them up from a different time and occassion. What a number one asshole he is...

Charlene, it is difficult to try to understand what this particular blogger's motive is when he presents falsehoods like this. I'm guessing his motive is to incite hatred toward the president, even if he has to make bald-faced lies to do it.

Sue,

Those photos are from the Holbrooke memorial service.

It really is astonishing to see how these particular conservative bloggers need to distort facts and lie in order to fit their narrative of the president.

Truth is their enemy because it doesn't conform to their toxic detestation of Mr. Obama.

shaw,

these types of bloggers are losers, the only way to make themselves look important is to lie. you've exposed these people as the malicious con artists that they are.

I doubt if anyone will be laughing at the services for this blogger when he/she dies. They will surely be cheering.

This comment is the worst:

"Good find, Xxx. These 3 evil stooges should be ashamed of themselves.

Vermin dancing on the graves of people who actually wanted to keep America safe."

Why is it the worse? Because the writer had no interest in finding out whether the blogger was correct in calling Mr. Obama and the Clintons hypocrites for being seen laughing in one photo and serious in another.

The commenter assumed the blogger knew what he was talking about--he didn't as my blog proves, and so the commenter felt comfortable in calling the Clintons and the president "stooges," "evil," and "vermin."

This is the sort of slander that was employed by Hitler's goons against the Jews in order to dehumanize them.

We see it at work and encouraged at this person's blog

"LOL, great comments guys, bring em on."

and it is stomach turning.

And my pointing this out isn't invoking Godwin's law, it's talking about history.

I truly think these people are too ignorant to undertand what they are engaging in but that doesn't excuse their loathsome behavior.

Re: the Holbrooke Memorial Service, please note that the Jesse Helms Center is not at Wingate University, but is in the town of Wingate, N.C.

This is not simply celebrities who are employing their wedding ceremony to mirror their taste and personality. As opposed to simply conforming to the accepted type of 4 seasons, brides today have endless options in terms of a wedding dresses. Traditionalists look regal in cathedral trains, while more casual brides wear sleeveless, halter-style dresses or perhaps two-piece, belly-button-baring gowns. And, for all brides who choose dealt with locales since the setting for your ceremony, it's not unusual to view a themed 2012 prom dresses?bridal gown, for example one who evokes the Victorian era or Old.
