This is an annual event that welcomes spring and shows off the creativity and artistry of the various garden clubs in the Boston area.
For those who are not familiar with this event, the garden clubs that enter the competition are assigned an art object or a painting, and then each club must interpret, with flowers or other organic material, that object or painting.
The photos below are from last year's event (courtesy of flickr.com) I will be at the MFA today to take photos of this year's beauties and post them later in the week.
Meanwhile enjoy the wonders of Art in Bloom:

Perfectly beautiful! A lovely way to draw favorable attention to a specific painting or other work of art. The stunning plant and flower arrangements seem a near-perfect complement to each example, except the one that is next-to-the-last in descending order.
That -- to me -- had far less appeal. Perhaps because it seems too diffuse? No particular focal point.
The last is absolutely gorgeous -- in the truest sense of the word, which does not mean "very good looking," but "a splendid array of colors," instead.
Just as the nasturtiums leave the Gardner.
Whole towns in bloom. Such a nice time of year.
Indeed uplifting after a long and barren winter. Not to mention the ravages of a partisan political blogistan.
Looking forward to more wonderful pictures and the serene sanity they are sure to bring.
You're right, FT. That arrangement is a little over the top.
That grouping in the Egyptian gallery does it for me, though.
