JON STEWART EVISCERATES THE STUPIDS IN THE SENATE WHO VOTED AGAINST BACKGROUND CHECKS

I reacted on another blog to a commenter who praised this moron's tweet:

Nate Bell is a state representative from Arkansas who mocked the people of Boston who were under a terrorist attack.  I understand now that reacting to intellectually challenged pea-brains is probably not a wise thing to do, but as someone who saw her beloved city and so many of its citizens experience such horror, my first reaction was to strike back against the jerks who wrote both the comment and the tweet.

To Nate Bell (and his supporters):  I leave you all with this thought:  You may have gotten a cheap, momentary thrill by demeaning the people of Boston with your heartless tweet, but in the end, it is you who had to cower.

You had to walk back your stupid, thoughtless remark because decent people all over this country were repulsed by its sneering mean-spiritedness.

Next time, use your brain, if you have one.

Nate Bell is a state representative from Arkansas who has A Lot Of Guts
Nate Bell is a state representative from Arkansas who is a Patriot wh is not afraid to speak his mind and say it like it is. Calling Bostonian's "cowering" liberals was not the most tactful thing he has ever done, but it was the most Gutsy thing he has ever done.

If this were Bill Maher the Liberals would be kissing his behind for having Guts to be forthright. While all the Obama jock-sniffers go all wet in the shorts over someone calling a spade a spade, it was amusing to watch these progressives get up in arms about their dear liberal city.
And that’s why is this country going down fast in handbasket, liberals do not stand logic, common sense, or honesty. It don’t takes real GUTS to whine and snivel.
And another thought, Lets not forget, “The Swimmer” Ted Kennedy the Killer who got kicked out of Harvard for cheating. The same guy that the Liberals called Compassionate who cares about the poor. But who took part in murdering a yourg girl and then covered it up.
How’s that Bostonians? Some people never learn!

According to Wiki:

The Republican speaker of the Arkansas House called the remark "inappropriate and insensitive."

I'm not so sure that he is an intellectually challenged pea-brain, though. I don't know enough about Nate Bell to say he is or he isn't.

-------------

It seems to me that social networking may not be doing ourselves a favor.

In general, we are seeing people spout off whatever comes to their minds. It used to be that people didn't spout off like that because finding an audience took time, which meant that people could reconsider their remarks. Furthermore, for several decades now our society has had the attitude of "I'm in your face. Deal with it. I'm being honest!"

A few years ago, I had a very disconcerting experience. The neurologist prescribed Lyrica for me so as to break the cycle of severe neurological pain. The medication had a strange neurological side effect (among some others, including tardive dyskinesia): whatever came into my head came out of my mouth. In other words, I was brutally honest. As soon as was physically possible, I weaned myself off Lyrica, and my uncontrollable honesty vanished.

I'm not saying that Nate Bell tweeted what he did because he's on medication. My point is that people all over the political spectrum and not even on the political spectrum are unleashed, and that unleashing reminds me of what Lyrica did to me.

AOW, what made me angry over his remark was how incredibly insensitive to the moment it was.

This was an attack on Americans. What ever possessed him to mock them at this time?

And yes, I was angry at the time I read it and reacted defensively for my city and my neighbors. We most certainly did not "cower."

But you're correct. People feel free to make incendiary remarks on tweets and fb because, apparently, they believe those social networks are safe places for their acting out.

LOL Anon,

Mindy B apparently admires pea-brains. She sounds very much like a "malcontent" who has been known to be afflicted with multiple blog-personality disorder.

And "her" writing is very much like the rantings of that malcontent--it's all-over-the-map incoherent, full of sound and fury, and signifying nothing.

I have no idea. Is the Golden Rule dead? Nate Bell professes to be a Christian.

And you know what else? There is a significant regional divide in America.

For example, Duck says all kinds of insulting things about the South. I find such comments tedious.

I grew up in the South and heard a lot about "damn Yankees!" I never cared for that kind of thing.

As for the attacks on Boston, all that I could think of for days on end was "What if this were going on here in the D.C. area? How awful it would be!" Having lived through those terrible three weeks in October 2002, when Muhammad and Malvo were on the loose and apparently murdering people at random, I know only too well what it's like to be terrified and terrorized.

Mindy B. may have a point with this statement:

If this were Bill Maher the Liberals would be kissing his behind for having Guts to be forthright.

Sometimes, I think that those all along the political spectrum have taken leave of their senses!

AOW, Bill Maher is an entertainer, a comedian, and he's paid to say outrageous things.

Nate Bell is an elected official of an American state. One would think he would refrain from making blanket statements that insult Americans during a terrorist attack.

And that's what Bell did. He made fun of Americans during a terrorist attack.

Why can't people just accept that fact?

There is absolutely NO excuse for that sort of stupidity. He's not a comedian. One would expect better from a person in his position. But then, maybe he's a representation of his region of the country and a political party that thinks liberals are not "real" Americans.

Even on Z's blog, she noted that Bostonians were lined up along the streets, waving flags after the last bomber was apprehended and the law enforcement officials were driving him to the hospital. She was amazed that flags were waving and cops were being lauded.

As though liberals were not capable of appreciating law enforcement and waving flags! As though we were some sort of foreign element that hates America!

I'm afraid it is THAT assumption and attitude that is corrosive to us as a nation.

When one political group believes the other is anti-American and "cowering" that is a damnable shame in addition to being complete b.s.

It's got to stop, or we will be a house divided forever. And THAT will destroy us for sure.

Divisions tend to form, fester, and grow over time. Just As we have been witnessing. They have taken on inertia and I fear there may be little that can be done at this point. Blindersare commonplace.

Now that you're done hyperventilating (you were hyperventilating, right?) maybe you should answer Mr. Bell's question.

Precisely how many Boston liberals spent the night cowering in their homes wishing they had an AR-15 with a high-capacity magazine? None? A couple? A dozen? A hundred? A thousand?

I'm failing to see what is offensive about his question. Boston liberals were cowering in their homes, were they not?

beamish,

I know AOW tolerates your insolence over at her blog. I have no idea why, possibly out of pity?

One is, afterall, supposed to be kind to those who are slower and less gifted, and even to those who deserve the most severe disapprobation, as you do, considering your misanthropic and contemptible comments.

Since you find the urgent need to mock and insult Americans who were the victims of a terrorist attack, one can only surmise that you are of little character and urgently need to inform rest of the world of your inferiority.

Thank you for sharing your inner most twaddle that passes as thoughts and musings. We have taken them under consideration, and find them to be what one would expect from a simpleton.

Perhaps now you will return to where you are welcome and where you find appreciation for your lamentable fatuity.

Shaw,
Certainly NOT out of pity!

I count Beamish as a friend. We don't always agree, but he is still a friend.

In some circles, he is known as "The Gas-Masked Patriot," or some such moniker.

You don't know me very well, Shaw. Over time, you may see that I am multi-faceted and quite tolerant of divergent views and the expression thereof. My blog is not an echo chamber, nor do I want it to be.

BTW, it was Beamish and Warren who created my avatar.

I do have a wide circle of virtual and real friends -- probably comes from the fact that I'm a foreign-language major. I find that I learn from people who adhere to ideologies all along the political spectrum. Yes, indeed, I do have strong political views of my own, but I tend to express those views in ways that aren't very confrontational. Being confrontational isn't my style. Usually.

It is pretty clear that the loonies on the right admire a**holes, as your troll beamish demonstrates.

His stupid questions speak to their not so hidden glee over the fact that Americans were terrorized in Boston.

These are the same fools who try to outdo themselves with patriotic fervor, and then make jokes when Americans are attacked by terrorists.

Some advice, Shaw, sweep the crud from your otherwise excellent blog.

A**holes can be found all along the political spectrum. Just sayin'.
