Here he is -- Mr. America, by Capt. Fogg of The Swash Zone

One of the Captain's finest:

Here he is - Mr. America

Racism? Just like those liberals to think that "American Values" are racist, says Fox jerk Todd Starnes; and after all, it was only 'politically correct' judges that enabled a dark skinned American woman of East Indian descent to win the Miss America contest over someone with real American values, like blond hair and big tits. American womanhood as traditionally seen by pageant judges always has been typified by tattooed Army Sergeants, hasn't it? If that isn't true American womanhood, perhaps those judges will choose a man next.

"Americans were backing Miss Kansas -- but the liberal Miss America judges were not interested in a gun-toting, deer-hunting, military veteran." said Tiny Todd on his Facebook page on Sunday. Americans -- Americans who can't tell the difference between Indians, Arabs, and Muslims but are sure that to be an American; to have American values means TBBT: you're tall and blond and have big tits.

"Americans" (that being Todd) were backing Theresa Vail and I'm sure many were, even though most Americans I would venture have as little interest in this cattle call as I do -- even though tattoos make me cringe even on male Army Sergeants, she was a fine candidate and for all I know a fine person.

If that's what the repulsive troglodyte from the caves of Fox likes, that's his privilege - de gustibus and all that, but for those of us who don't have a problem calling an American citizen, born and raised a 'real' American if they don't have 100% European ancestry; even for those of us who might actually consider an Indian or Chinese or Middle Eastern or, God forbid, African woman attractive and intelligent and talented and worthy to represent "American Values" -- for us Nina Davuluri is a fine choice and a real All-American girl.

Smug racist assholes like Starnes and the Network he rode in on don't, needless to say, represent any values, much less American ones I'd respect, or even tolerate -- or even refrain from punishing with extreme prejudice and considerable violence given the chance. But I've been around long enough to know there isn't anything to be done about convincing these people. No dispassionate analysis, no baseball bat will make these people see non-European people as anything but a threat to their imaginary "values." As Max Plank once said, the truth does not triumph by making its opponents see the light, but because they eventually die.

So if we're unable to stop hoping for some new America that gives more than lip service to its principles while festering like a cesspool of hate and stupidity and bellicose self-aggrandizement, perhaps we should hope and pray that Fox falls into some lake of fire, that the earth opens up and swallows Todd Starnes like the foul and fetid carcass of the loathsome creature he is, so every good and true and righteous person can piss on his grave.

From The Daily Beaste:  "MIss America, Meet India's "Dark" Side.

IS MISS AMERICA A SECRET MUSLIM TERRORIST????

Stephen Colbert covered this story, too:

Apparently outrageous distortion, mockery, vilification, bombast and overheated rhetoric -- even between good friends, who hold opposing views -- is nothing new in American Politics. Perhaps we should all take the time to read the book reviewed below? It might help us gain a more sensible perspective on contemporary events. - FT

Adams vs. Jefferson: The Tumultuous Election of 1800
(Pivotal Moments in American History)

by John Ferling (Oxford)

The following REVIEW was found at AMAZON.CO:

"It was a contest of titans: John Adams and Thomas Jefferson, two heroes of the Revolutionary era, once intimate friends, now icy antagonists locked in a fierce battle for the future of the United States. The election of 1800 was a thunderous clash of a campaign that climaxed in a deadlock in the Electoral College and led to a crisis in which the young republic teetered on the edge of collapse.

"Adams vs. Jefferson is the gripping account of a turning point in American history, a dramatic struggle between two parties with profoundly different visions of how the nation should be governed. The Federalists, led by Adams, were conservatives who favored a strong central government. The Republicans, led by Jefferson, were more egalitarian and believed that the Federalists had betrayed the Revolution of 1776 and were backsliding toward monarchy. The campaign itself was a barroom brawl every bit as ruthless as any modern contest, with mud-slinging, scare tactics, and backstabbing. The low point came when Alexander Hamilton printed a devastating attack on Adams, the head of his own party, in "fifty-four pages of unremitting vilification." The stalemate in the Electoral College dragged on through dozens of ballots. Tensions ran so high that the Republicans threatened civil war if the Federalists denied Jefferson the presidency. Finally a secret deal that changed a single vote gave Jefferson the White House. A devastated Adams left Washington before dawn on Inauguration Day, too embittered even to shake his rival's hand.

"With magisterial command, Ferling brings to life both the outsize personalities and the hotly contested political questions at stake. He shows not just why this moment was a milestone in U.S. history, but how strongly the issues--and the passions--of 1800 resonate with our own time."

The new MS America does represent America much better than the blond with big hooters (tits is such a repulsive description).

If you watched any of the charade, especially the non talent portion, you would say, yep she represents the new America.

Yes. I'm familiar with the election of 1800 and the animus that existed between Jefferson and Adams, and who, BTW,reconciled in their old age and exchanged letters up to the end of their lives.

But what has that to do with the idiots on Fox News and this subject?

Indeed. Please stay on topic, Herr FreeThinke.

If you're not prepared to discuss just how stupid fauz news and the rightwing teabaggers are, just go away, before octo squirts caustic ink in your eyes.

Anonymous@10:48AM,

(O)CT(O)PUS had nothing to do with my comment to FT.

It is common blog courtesy to stay on topic.

FreeThinke said...

Oh, but it IS on topic, Ma'am, in the sense that the hectoring, badgering, belligerent, accusatory TONE indulged in by the writer from The Swash Zone, and the cheeky, snideness, cynicism and trivialization routinely demonstrated by Mr. Colbert are seen reflected everywhere in blogosphere by Progressives and Conservatives ALIKE.

It is not merely about facts, opinions and "issues," Ms Shaw, for me it is about TONE.

I frankly think it's amusing as well as informative to notice that such "untoward" behavior was apparently common practice in the early days of our republic -- and at its found too from the little I've read about the fractious behavior among members of the First and Second Continental Congress.

That Adams and Jefferson put it all away later on and remained good friends only aids in underscoring points I try -- almost continually -- to make -- admittedly with little success.

I wrote rather lot on TONE and INTENT earlier and posted it at the previous thread. I didn't think it right to repeat those remarks here, but they too apply.

I couldn't care less about Miss America. I lost interest in the pageant before they got rid of Bert Parks a hundred years ago. The event is entirely nugatory. It always was little more than a T&A Show lightly sanitized and made respectable by giving it a thin veneer of [often feeble] talent and embarrassing demonstrations of pseudo moral and intellectual acumen.

So here it is being EXPLOITED for perceived _______ whatever.

Another tub to thump, another excuse for expressing spurious, conjured up outrage over nothing.

Our time has been much better spent recently discussing The Goldberg Variations. Do take a look at the note I left at my place expressing appreciation for your contribution there.

I think, maybe, that F was saying that Adams had a bigger Dick than Jefferson. I'm pretty sure that is how politics were back then. Or mayb e he wasn't saying anything at all.

shaw...your pal F.T. comes here and tells you how you should run your blog and not deal in TONE but interesting this is how his TONE is with a liberal on a conservative blog:

Oh great. The Red Scare's back. I'll go hide under my desk...

It never went away, Dumb Dumb, but only the smartest people realize it. The rest are an unknowing PART of it. The scariest thing about the Communist Menace are the Useful Idiots who carry the water and tote the toilet paper for it -- and don't REALIZE what they're doing. Guess who is one of those right here in our midst?"

F.T. calls JMJ a "Dumb Dumb" and implies he's a "useful idiot" who carries water for the commies.

F.T. has the gall to come here and instruct you and everyone on TONE and then use fascistic TONE against liberals, who he also calls commies, marxists and every other vile name. I wonder if he's a bit, how to put it nicely, "off?"

Don't allow him to tell you how to run your blog, shaw, he has his own blog to rant and tell everyone how above the unwashed he is. Funny part is that he's exactly the same as all of them. Bwhahahahaha!

It's a wonderful thing to have enemies.

It affirms one's personhood, gives one an increased sense of power and significance. The reasons for that should be obvious.

Dave Miller said...

Free, there is way to speak about tone when you use terms that are designed to define libs as UnAmerican and not worthy of time.

You frequently cite the bible and Jesus teachings as a guide for how we should live our lives. Well, i know a little about that.

Tell me, how is being dismissive of people, not just their ideas, consistent with the teachings of Paul in Philippians 2 where we are called to "consider others better than ourselves?"

We can disagree on issues, even strongly. But when people resort to impugning motives, declaring people as anti American and personal attacks, that to me crosses the line.

It angers people, closes debate, and worse, is not Christlike... at least as how I read the bible.

FreeThinke said...

OkJimm,

I never thought about such a comparison before, but my guess would be that it was probably the other way 'round. From the iconographic evidence we have Adams was short and stout; Jefferson was lean and muscular.

Of the two Jefferson may have been the lustier. Not that it matters. Both were towering intellects and men of great passion and commitment to their ideas and vision for the future. They were, however, merely human and had faults and failings just like all the rest of us.

But what about Miss America?!

okjimm said...

B Parks.....well...if she did have a big dick....she would not be allowed to marry in quite a few states.

Les Carpenter said...

The pageant is over? Damn, I missed it. Oh well, there will always be another year.

As to Tall, Blood, and Big Tits Captain, I guess I'm not American enough because I think Tall, Blonde, with Bit Tits is way overrated (and my roots go all the way back to the early 1600's). I'll take 5'4, petite, fit, dark hair and Mediterranean anytime over TBBT.

This post was about Miss America, right?

She's simply gorgeous. As an ex French/English girl friend's mother used to say, "She can put her shoes under my bed anytime." Of course she sat "He". Her mother was French.

Capt. Fogg said...

I'm sorry, but I think there's a substantial difference between an exchange of insults between public figures and a worldwide media Corporation whipping up a worldwide mob of nasty, stupid and hate filled people to oppose liberty, to promote racism, to divide the country into vicious warring camps for the benefit of obscure and wealthy interests.

The reach of and the effects of modern propaganda machines is terrifying, and such propaganda campaigns have been the stimulus for major acts of genocide too many times. Somewhere, some demented Fox-stinking bastard will take Fox hate and run with it and then we'll cry about gun control instead of calling for a Fox hunt.

It's significant that in Germany - where they know about these things - Starnes would be in jail along with half the Fox staff.

When I hear the lunkhead, Rubio, saying with a straight face that President Obama should not threaten to shut down the government, I understand perfectly what you mean, Captain.

Dave,
You and I have expressed our concerns and put forth our case. I thank you for your support in the matter. At this point, there is nothing more we can do. When a verbal abuser continues to grandstand and redoubles the abuse, his conduct reflects even worse upon his character.

I believe all bloggers have an ethical responsibility to their readers to keep their forums civil and respectful.

At this point, the Lady of the Manor has a decision to make – whether to remain in thrall to an abuser, or whether to set boundaries on behalf of her core group of readers.

For my part, I have made my decision. I chose to opt out of situations where there is an abuser in the room.

Apparently, the great mass people have been persuaded to believe they are happier and better off growing more angry, envious, spiteful, captious, cantankerous and prone to violence while nursing their grievances and lusting for vengeance against the very people who have always provided them with actual sustenance and a measure of security.

A hate-based determination to bring down those with positive vision, discriminating tastes and refined preferences who are richer, smarter, cleverer, kinder, more productive has overcome ad supplanted the once-prevalent desire to EMULATE those in better, more comfortable, more interesting and adventurous, higher quality circumstances.

Is it any wonder that Envy is listed high among the Seven Deadly Sins, and that we have been told for thousands of years the "Vengeance belongs to God?"

Idiot. I live in America and I CAN say that without a bunch of Christianists and Bible thumpers cutting my head off. You comment implies you'd LOVE to see that happen here. Idiot. And I don't give a hot damn what C.S. Lewis said. Only the delusional believers in invisible sky gods would utter such rot. There are millions of atheists and agnostics in this world. Lewis's self-serving statement labels them all crazy? No. He's the one suffering from a massive delusion. The rest of us are rational about sky daddies.
