FRANKLIN GRAHAM, EVANGELICAL CHRISTIAN, PRIASES PUTIN'S ANTI-GAY LAWS
This is why the GOP will continue to lose young people. Unless the party bosses in the GOP publicly distance themselves from this nutjob, they will march into the next generation as an irrelevant party of bigots:

With the caveat that 'I am not endorsing President Putin,' Graham nonetheless praised Russia’s get-tough approach toward gay rights." (Thereby actually endorsing Russia's aggressive, repressive and inhumane anti-gay, anti-civil rights agenda.)
Yay Putin, says Graham! Boo USA says Graham! What a patriot.
So here we have another very prominent "godly" Conservative who admires and praises an ex-Soviet KGB strongman over our American president. Conservative bloggers keep insisting this isn't so, even when the facts keep hitting them in their faces.
Evangelical Christian, Franklin Graham, wants us to bash, harass, and withhold civil rights from our gay citizens, just like the Russians do, because Jesus, or something. Did Franklin actually think this stupid endorsement out?
And yes, we know he has the right, as an individual, to not accept our LGBT brothers and sisters as equals who are protected by our Constitution. Someone, however, should have told him it's probably not a good idea to brag about his enthusiastic support of Putin's repressive government that beats, stabs, burns, and jails gay citizens for who they are. It's just not, y'know, the American way. He can kiss Putin's gay-hating ass all he wants; it won't change the fact that a majority of Americans reject him and his inability to embrace everyone in our human community.
Anyone with any sense of justice knows Graham is on the wrong side of history. Too bad he doesn't.

He's also on the wrong side of the example given by Jesus Christ. But then so very much of the Right is there.

The Christian nutters can't kill as many people as the Muslim ones do because hardly anyone really fervently believes in Christianity any more like they did back in the days of, say, the Crusades and the Thirty Years War. They're now limited to occasional free-lance gay-bashing and cheering on the thugs in Russia or Uganda.
Aside from that -- Christian extremists, Muslim extremists, po-TAY-to, po-TAH-to.
The cons get their knicker all in a twist because they don't like it when liberals make fun of fanatical fundamentalists who support governments and their leaders who brag about gay-hating.
I say keep shining the light on these rascals who pretend to promote Jesus love, then admire people who crap all over His message.

Graham certainly is entitled to his religous convictions, as woefully misguided as we think they are.
He is ill advised however to use Vladimir Putin as an example of righteousness in his efforts to promote his agenda against granting equal status to the LGBT community.
Having said this I disagree he is "endorsing" Putin as you say Shaw. IMO he is endorsing only Putin's stance with respect to homosexuality, nothing more. But, as I said above. ill advised and a bit odd.
Organized, man made religous doctrine, such as Graham espouses with regards to gays and lesbians is bigotry and it is evil. I hope I am wrong but there will likely always be those who share Graham's (and Putin's) beliefs that somehow gays and lesbians are less deserving of respect and equality as humans than the heterosexual.
Perhaps one day there will no longer be a need to discuss this issue, hopefully. In the meantime exposing the bigotry is s worthy cause.

Well Graham may be unpopular with liberals, but he does have his admirers in other political parties.

That is an impressive gay agenda. As a breeder, I wouldn't be able to accomplish half of what the gays want to do to this country because of all that breeding going on in my agenda (Wait...that sounds WRONG).
