I Don't Even

"This story has it all. Stretch Hummers. Booze. A right hook. And a former vice presidential candidate screaming, 'Do you know who I am!?'

Just another Saturday night in Anchorage with the Palins?" --Washington Post

John McCain wanted this person one heartbeat away from the presidency.

Amanda Coyne:

“A nice, mellow party, until the Palin’s show up. There’s beer, of course, and maybe other things. Which is all fine, but just about the time when some people might have had one too many, a Track Palin stumbles out of a stretch Hummer, and immediately spots an ex-boyfriend of Willow’s. Track isn’t happy with this guy, the story goes.

There’s words, and more. The owner of the house gets involved, and he probably wished he hadn’t. At this point, he’s up against nearly the whole Palin tribe: Palin women screaming. Palin men thumping their chests.

Word is that Bristol has a particularly strong right hook, which she employed repeatedly, and it’s something to hear when Sarah screams, “Don’t you know who I am!”

And it was particularly wonderful when someone in the crowd screamed back, “This isn’t some damned Hillbilly reality show!”

No, it’s what happens when the former First Family of Alaska comes knocking. As people were leaving in a cab, Track was seen on the street, shirtless, flipping people off, with Sarah right behind him, and Todd somewhere in the foreground, tending to his bloody nose.”

It is painfully evident that even a year of elocution lessons to teach her to modulate her voice, or a change of coiffure, will never take the "low" out of the Palin "class."

I wasn't sure if this was an account of an actual house party, an allegory of one of SP's national appearances... or both.

And so Palin completes her transition from serious political figure to punchline. Of course, she was already 90% of the way there.

Literally!

Didn't picture you like that, dmarks.

Not hard to believe at all. She still has a large following for someone as insignificant and foolish as she is. But those who think she's intelligent are the biggest fools of all. Even idiots need representation and she does a bang-up job of representing their politics.

An in one story, we learn quite a bit.

If we step back to the 2008 elections and the selection process within the GOP, Sen John McCain wanted to choose Joe Lieberman, a conservative Dem, as his running mate.

Dems were scared to death at the though of running against a mixed ticket, a war hero, a maverick and two candidates who both had years of governmental service.

But the GOP would not permit this to happen, many saying they would walk out of the convention if McCain chose his very experienced friend Lieberman,

They hated Joe, but they loved Palin.

Someone please tell me why, independent of Barack Obama and his performance, which we all know has been less than stellar, why we should trust a party that felt, and has many who still feel that Sarah Palin was qualified to be "a heartbeat away from the Oval Office."?

Anyone...

And Dmarks... I second Shaw on the pic...

I know it's not right to generalize, but in this case I will. Generally speaking Caribou Barbie represents all that is wrong with today's GOP. And no, don't compare her with President Obama. Just look at that talking disaster she is and think about listening to her word salad for 4 or, God help us, 8 years. Only dimwits can't see how awful Palin is and the disgrace she's brought to the Rethugs.

Own her GOP! She belongs to you.

The republican party does not have a great record of choosing who to select for the door stop.

Agnew, Quayle, Palin. Of course the democrats are not much better with algore, ferraro and now biden. Fortunately none of them stepped into the left seat. This is one reason I pray for obama to have good health because look at the disaster who would step in.

ah, Sarah! She is a walking Word Salad.......well beyond her expiration date. Not fit for rational discussion.

I wonder if she will bring up this incident on the Sarah Palin Channel?

Speaking of stupid:

"Obama’s not an American even if he was born in Omaha, Nebraska and had the paperwork to prove it. Or born in Florida or West Los Angeles or Seattle. None of that would make him an American.

Yes … being born in America doesn’t make you an American. You have to be culturally American, proud of America, and actually love your country and its people. None of this describes anyone on the left."

Actual quotes from nuts who are not Sarah Palin. They all around us! And crazier than she is.

Skud... while the record shows a great many less than stellar VP's and candidates, I think even you would have to admit, Palin takes the cake in modern times.

A small town mayor who quit her job as governor to become a partisan contributor and reality TV subject.

Why again did the GOP, when offered Lieberman, insist on her instead? And why do GOP thought leaders like Bill Kristol still sing her virtues?

The simple fact that she still has defenders in the leadership of the party, in my opinion, darn near disqualifies the party from national leadership.

Can you name a national Dem that excited their base as she does the GOP and yet is anywhere near as unhinged?

Yeah she is a dumbass but what does she know anyway, she was only the Governor of the 59th state.

Sarah ain't dumb as you all think. She's parlayed her dumbness into lots of coin.

She just isn't all that intelligent.

Biden is certainly preferable to either McCain, Palin, Ronney, or the guy that ran with Ronney.

Dave: “Why again did the GOP, when offered Lieberman, insist on her instead

La petite Palin was vetted by John McCain’s foreign policy advisor, Randy Scheunemann, whose first name explains the vetting process. In England, “randy” is a colloquial term for “horny.”

RN: “She's parlayed her dumbness into lots of coin.”

True. La petitie Palin has been marketed like breakfast cereal. General Mills puffs corn into Kix and makes lots of coin. Scheunemann thought he could get lots of Kix from Palin. Little did he know …

I think Kix will be around a lot longer than Palin.

Romney is smart, qualified, and not quite as gaffe prone as Biden. Personally, I'd take Romney over Biden.

That is a good thing (O)CT(O)PUS. Mix surviving Palin that is.

Romney hates 47 percent of Americans and is a plutocrat on the side of the plutocrats. Biden loves his country and has lived a life of service. Easy choice, IMO. So what if Romney is supposedly smart? That makes him (potentially) more dangerous than Palin, IMO. Although she'd likely have her own Dick Cheney (if, God forbid, Palin somehow were "elected" president).

Me, I'd like to vote for Bernie Sanders or Elizabeth Warren. Much more so than Hillary Clinton. Enough with the Conservative Dems already. America NEEDS a true Progressive in the White House.

Hmmm...

Nixon over Obama any day. Romney over Biden. Romney is a political corpse. If you look deeply into the past you can still see him swinging where he hung himself.

I thought of some fun, if unlikely comparisons. How about King Darius over Queen Victoria? I'd take Hammurabi over Charlemagne any day. Adlai Stevenson over Mike Huckabee. Churchill over Stalin in a heartbeat!

Some people dedicate themselves to service for the pure joy of helping people, others do for the perks that come along with it

Les Carpenter said...

Ah, King Darius I the Great. Builder of the great Persian Empire. Indeed a great.ruler and giver of laws.

And the code of Hammurabi... now there's some good stuff.

Love the quip about Romney, although my regard for him is certainly not as low as yours, and my regard for Biden not as high...

and the rest, yep. without a doubt.

Lisa, you seem to be saying that only people who serve others, with no thought of renumeration, should be seen as selfless servants.

Sadly, that is the view of many in this country, Christians included, in direct contradiction to the bible that says a "workman is worthy of his wages."

Why is it that when someone gets paid, his, or her motive is questioned?

Are US citizens working around the globe daily to bring things like clean water and quality medical care to people doing it for the perks?

How about the doctor in your community? is that person serving for all the perks?

Think woman... is there abuse? Of course, but the blanket statements you and your friends make that condemn the majority of people for the excesses of a few are both harmful and way off the mark.

David,

The gop was just playing to the female voter and it didn't work out well. I think lieberman would have been a much better choice but no one asked me.

As to your question "Can you name a national Dem that excited their base as she does the GOP" I guess the one that comes to mind is presbo and look at how that is turning out. At least palin had some experience. Biden a heartbect away from the oval office is chilling isn't it.

Maybe there is a candidate out there who is more interested in the people over the party. Think that will ever happen?

Les Carpenter said...

Everyone works primarily for their own self interest, which is, based on the hierarchy of needs, self preservation. All the rest follows.

Dave Miller said...

Skud... There is just no way anyone with a hint of objectivity can compare Joe Biden to Sarah Palin once we get to experience and leadership.

Yes, Biden is gaffe prone, but few honest critics attribute those gaffes as policy positions.

I feel pretty good having Biden as VP and would not fear for a minute his ability to function in a dignified way with other world leaders.

Palin?

At least you are willing to admit that the GOP made a political decision on Palin, something few of your blogging friends at Geeez and other places will do.

We know the reason why of course, because that type of admission would kill the narrative that only Barack Obama does things that are political.

As an aside, I rarely start with the idea that presidential candidates, no matter the party, are disinterested in people. I believe most, if not all, truly believe that they can make things better for our country.

They may be wrong, and their ideas may not work, but I refuse to believe they do for power, or to grow their party over helping people. They may get carried away, but I believe their roots are good.

And for me, that includes Bush[es], Reagan, Nixon, Ford and the Dems of my lifetime.

Call me an idealist.

BTW, have you noticed that you get to comment here as long as you, and any other conservative is civil?

One has to wonder why that privilege is not granted us at some of our non liberal sites, especially since they are always quick to trot out the frequently misunderstood 1st Amendment meme.
