The Senator With The Snowball
From Karoli @Crooks and Liars:
This is just too awesome not to publish in its entirety. Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) enlightens the Republican anti-science, grandstanding "Senator With A Snowball" from Oklahoma, James Inhofe:
After Senator James Inhofe trolled the entire Senate with his snowball on Thursday, Senator Sheldon Whitehouse stepped up to the mic with his fact snowplow to clear away the mess.
So much win. Here's the transcript:
WHITEHOUSE: I'd just like to complete my remarks with regard to the Senator from Oklahoma and his snowball. I'd like to ask unanimous consent that I show the Earth Now website on the iPad device that I have. And if you go to Earth Now it's actually quite easy to load, and you can see how that polar vortex measurably brings the cold air down to New England where we are right now.
And this is produced by NASA. These are pretty serious people. So you can believe NASA and you can believe what their satellites measure on the planet, or you can believe the Senator With The Snowball.
The United States Navy takes this very seriously, to the point where Admiral Locklear, who is the head of the Pacific Command, has said that climate change is the biggest threat that we face in the Pacific. He's a career miilitary officer and he's deadly serious. You can either believe the United States Navy, or you can believe the Senator With The Snowball.
The religious and faith groups are very clear on this, by and large. I would particularly salute the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, which has made a very, very clear and strong statements and we are going to hear more from Pope Francis about this when he releases his encyclical and when he speaks to the Joint Session of Congress on September 24th. And I think that it will be quite clear that you can believe the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops and Pope Francis, or you can believe the Senator With The Snowball.
In corporate America, there is an immense array of major, significant, intelligent, responsible corporations who are very clear that climate change is real. Companies like Coke and Pepsi. Companies like Ford and GM. And Caterpillar. Companies like Wal-Mart and Target. Companies like VF Industries, which makes a wide array of clothing products, and Nike. Companies like Mars and Nestle. So, we have our choice. We can believe Coke and Pepsi and Ford and GM and Caterpillar and Wal-Mart and Target and VF Industries and Nike and Mars and Nestle, or we can believe the Senator With The Snowball.
Every major American scientific society has put itself on record -- many of them a decade ago -- that climate change is deadly real. They measure it, they see it, they know why it happens, the predictions correlate with what we see as they increasingly come true. And the fundamental principle is that it is derived from carbon pollution, which comes from burning fossil fuels, are beyond legitimate dispute to the point where every leading scientific organization on the planet calls them unequivocal.
So, you can believe every major American scientific society, or you can believe the Senator With The Snowball.

Russia opposition politician Boris Nemtsov shot dead
FLASHBACK:
TUESDAY, MAR 4, 2014
Rudy Giuliani: Unlike Obama, Putin is “what you call a leader”
Russia opposition politician Boris Nemtsov shot dead
A leading Russian opposition politician, former Deputy Prime Minister Boris Nemtsov, has been shot dead in Moscow, Russian officials say. An unidentified attacker in a car shot Mr Nemtsov four times in the back as he crossed a bridge in view of the Kremlin, police say. He died hours after appealing for support for a march on Sunday in Moscow against the war in Ukraine.
[skip]
In his last tweet, Mr Nemtsov sent out an appeal for Russia's divided opposition to unite at an anti-war march he was planning for Sunday. "If you support stopping Russia's war with Ukraine, if you support stopping Putin's aggression, come to the Spring March in Maryino on 1 March," he wrote.
Speaking earlier this month to Russia's Sobesednik news website, he had spoken of his fears for his own life. "I'm afraid Putin will kill me," he said in the article on 10 February (in Russian).
I believe that he was the one who unleashed the war in the Ukraine," he said. "I couldn't dislike him more." Mr Putin has been widely accused of fomenting the bloody rebellion in east Ukraine - an accusation he denies.
Almost 5,800 people have died and at least 1.25 million have fled their homes, according to the UN.
The Ukrainian government, Western leaders and Nato say there is clear evidence that Russia is helping the rebels with heavy weapons and soldiers. Independent experts echo that accusation while Moscow denies it, insisting that any Russians serving with the rebels are "volunteers".
Now there's leadership for you! Rudy, will you be sending a love-note to Pootie-Put on his fabulous leadership skills? He is, afterall the ex-KGB leader you admire.
Who Wants A "Fundamentally Transformed" America?
Remember when some Republicans on the right went berserk when they heard President Obama say something about wanting to "fundamentally transform" America?
Yeah. I remember how outraged and red-in-the-face angry they got when they screamed about the audacity of stating something so anti-Constitutional, so wrong! Wrong! They said America was perfect the way she was and does NOT need to be "fundamentally transformed!!!"
BTW, here’s Obama’s original statement, in an October 2008 campaign visit to Columbia, Mo:
"Now, Mizzou, I just have two words for you tonight: five days. Five days. After decades of broken politics in Washington, and eight years of failed policies from George W. Bush, and 21 months of a campaign that's taken us from the rocky coast of Maine to the sunshine of California, we are five days away from fundamentally transforming the United States of America.
(Here's that awful transformation part explained!)
"In five days, you can turn the page on policies that put greed and irresponsibility on Wall Street before the hard work and sacrifice of folks on Main Street. In five days, you can choose policies that invest in our middle class, and create new jobs, and grow this economy, so that everyone has a chance to succeed, not just the CEO, but the secretary and janitor, not just the factory owner, but the men and women on the factory floor."
The NERVE of him wanting to give people a chance to succeed! How dare he?!
Those people on the right were so outraged by those lefty ideas of giving people who work hard the opportunity to get ahead that they were eaten up by their anger at Mr Obama's transformation idea--an idea that has been the bulwark of American progress since this country's beginning.
Okay. I just showed you how silly they were to flip out over this noncontroversial statement.
Has anyone, anywhere flipped out on this latest poll that shows Republicans wanting to "fundamentally transform" America? Anyone?
Here it is:
A Public Policy Polling (PPP) national survey conducted between February 20th and February 22nd of Republican voters, found that an astonishing 57 percent of Republicans want to dismantle the Constitution, and establish Christianity as the official national religion.
Only 30 percent oppose making Christianity the national religion. Although the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment clearly states that “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion,” GOP voters want to cast aside that provision and impose Christianity as the official American religion.
Could there be anything more fundamentally transforming than a proposal to change the Constitution and eliminate a fundamental provision of the document that they fetishize?
57% of Republicans want to fundamentally transform America by instituting a state religion! Those Republicans want to emulate Middle East countries like Iran and Saudi Arabia! How patriotic of them!
Compare and contrast: Mr. Obama's "fundamental transformation" idea was to restore the American ideal of hard working Americans being able to provide life's basics: food, shelter, education.
The Republicans who took the poll want to fundamentally change the U.S. Constitution and disregard centuries of American law?
Think about that when you think about them having complete control of all three branches of the U.S. government.
They want to fundamentally transform America into a theocracy.

Do You Want Another Bush in the White House?
Andy Borowitz of The New Yorker explains why that would be a nightmare:
(The Borowitz Report) — In an effort to distance himself from the legacy of his brother, George W. Bush, former Florida Governor Jeb Bush will use a major foreign-policy speech on Wednesday to assert that, if elected President, he would harm the nation in completely different ways.
“A lot of people are looking at me and thinking that I’m just going to be a rerun of my brother,” Bush told reporters before the speech. “They are greatly underestimating my ability to create chaos and destruction in ways that are uniquely mine.”
As an example, Bush said, he was unlikely to invade Iraq for a third time, calling such an action “too derivative.” “George already did it, and Dad did it before him,” he said. “Call it my independent streak, if you will, but I want to spawn some disasters of my own.”
To that end, Bush said that he and his foreign-policy team were already scanning the globe for “new and different places” where the United States could become involved in open-ended and pointless quagmires.
“I see boundless opportunities for the reckless and totally optional insertion of American military force,” he said. “No offense to my brother, but there were a few spots that George missed.”
LOL!

Lies And The Lying Liars Who Tell Them
The only reason I give a flying donut about Lisa and her Gang of Deranged Degenerates is because her groupies regularly come to my blog, copy what I write, paste it into her comment section, using fake names (Fox Snooze, for example, stole the entire comment from my blog), and pretend to be me or someone like me. Her highly excitable blog friends then react to what her sock puppets steal from my blog, some of them becoming so enraged that they lose all sense of decency that a normal human being possesses. This happened recently at Lisa's blog. One of her admirers had an viperous burst of depraved imprecations at Lisa's sock puppets' comments.
Probably feeling shame and remorse, the author of the bilious comments removed them. But here's where it gets interesting: Lisa claims that she removed them (even though the scrubbed comments say "this comment removed by the author"). Only when the author of a comment deletes that comment does that appear under his or her name. When the owner of a blog removes a comment, the scrubbed comment carries this notice: "this comment has been removed by a blog administrator."
Example:

That is not possible, since Free Thinke, and everyone who blogs using Blogger, has a unique profile ID number that NO ONE CAN STEAL and NO ONE BUT THE OWNER OF THAT I.D. NUMBER can post under that profile ID. The profile ID number linked to Free Thinke's crazed outbursts are his and his alone and match the profile ID number of his personal blog.
Why is Lisa lying about who scrubbed Free Thinke's comments and why does Free Thinke let her? And why is she accusing Ducky of having anything to do with those filthy comments? Only she can answer that. It's outrageously dishonest and beyond sick that these people would engage in gutter-style blogging tactics and then blame someone else for it.
Why did Free Thinke go off the rails in cascade of hatred and vitriol that would be hard to find even on Storm Front-type blogs? Who knows.
What is inexcusable is that these people set up situations by stealing other people's work, pretend to be the people they steal from, then lie, lie, lie about the whole sordid mess they create.
These people are a perfect example of Tea Party followers and a certain group of conservative bloggers who are not able to tell the truth or see it even when it's in front of their noses. They are a microcosm of the very worst of that group of people.
Below are Free Thinke's captured comments. Place your cursor over his name in the comments and see the profile ID number, then check it against the profile ID number that identifies him as the blog owner of "Free Thinke." They are one and the same. Lisa owes Ducky an apology. But that's what a decent, honest person would do.
Why did Free Thinke lose his cool and post the most vicious comments I've seen in my 10 years of blogging? Only he can answer that.

BE HAPPY TURN YOUR PAIN INTO PASSION
--Astrological advice
All the times I've been born
and hit by the wakening hand,
I must have missed the lesson,
the luck of the anguished
who carry not garbage in dented cans,
but glittery cuttings to powder their lawns.
Give me that drum-trumpet.
I'll toot the bang of bad karma,
lift my corpus out of its swoon,
prove I'm not a prisoner of archipelagoes.
I, too, can get fired up for the ball,
big deal of a world to wallow in.

President Obama Addresses The Nation
A hero is someone who finds the strength to persevere and endure, despite idiot ex-mayors who say stupid things about him. |
WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—In his weekly radio address, President Barack Obama reaffirmed his love of country, telling the nation, “I love America—even its idiots.”*
Expanding on this theme, the President said, “America is made up of all kinds of people: young and old, weak and strong, smart and dumb. And when the really dumb ones get up and act like total clowns, I still love them, because they are part of America. In fact, a really big part.”
In a call for unity, the President concluded, “Let’s all work together for the United States of America. And if that means putting aside our differences—including our sometimes vast differences in intelligence—so be it.”
*And you know who you are.
A special shout-out to the Daddy bloggers out there!:
We love you!
We really do!
Despite what Nature's done to you.

WHAT RUDY GIULIANI KNOWS ABOUT LOVE
by Wayne Barrett of the New York Daily News:
"Rudy Giuliani knows a lot about love.
Ask Regina Peruggi, the second cousin he grew up with and married, who was "offended" when Rudy later engineered an annulment from the priest who was his best man on the grounds, strangely enough, that she was his cousin.
Or ask Donna Hanover, the mother of his two children, who found out he wanted a separation when he left Gracie Mansion one morning and announced it at a televised press conference.
Or ask Judi Nathan, his third wife, whom he started dating while still married to Hanover and New York mayor.
In two SUVs, he and an entourage of six or seven cops traveled 11 times to Judi's Hamptons getaway at a taxpayer cost of $3,000 a trip. That's love.
Rudy knows so much about love that he declared the other day that President Obama "doesn't love you" and "doesn't love me" at a private party of GOP fat cats.
The onetime presidential candidate also revealed at the party that Obama "doesn't love America," an echo of a speech he'd delivered to delirious cheers in Arizona a week earlier when he declared:
"I would go anywhere, any place, anytime, and I wouldn't give a damn what the President of the United States said, to defend my country. That's a patriot. That's a man who loves his people. That's a man who fights for his people. Unlike our President."
Rudy may have forgotten the half-dozen deferments he won ducking the Vietnam War, even getting the federal judge he was clerking for to write a letter creating a special exemption for him.
And remember Bernie Kerik? He's the Giulaini police commissioner, business partner and sidekick whose nomination as homeland security secretary narrowly preceded indictments. He then did his national service in prison.
Giuliani went so far as to rebuke the President for not being "brought up the way you were and the way I was brought up through love of this country," a bow no doubt to the parenting prowess of Harold Giuliani, who did time in Sing Sing for holding up a Harlem milkman and was the bat-wielding enforcer for the loan-sharking operation run out of a Brooklyn bar owned by Rudy's uncle.
Though Rudy cited Harold throughout his public life as his model (without revealing any of his history), he and five Rudy uncles found ways to avoid service in World War II.
Harold, whose robbery conviction was in the name of an alias, made sure the draft board knew he was a felon.
On the other hand, Obama's grandfather and uncle served. His uncle helped liberate Buchenwald, which apparently affected him so deeply he stayed in the family attic for six months when he returned home.
Rudy also said Obama is "more of a critic than he is a supporter of America," an odd admonition coming from a security salesman who told a Tijuana audience of consulting clients in October: "America needs to stop lecturing other countries and start working on how to stop drug use in its citizens," shifting the onus for the Mexican drug trade onto us.
He's a consultant in Mexico, El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala, the very countries where right wing governments, traffickers and/or gangs are driving children and teenagers across the U.S. border.
He was a consultant for the government of Qatar, the country his friend and FBI director Louis Freeh accused of hiding 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheik Mohammed before the attack. That's the ultimate triumph of money over memory, since he's still talking, as recently as a week ago, about the 10 friends and 343 firefighters he lost on 9/11.
While Giuliani finds Obama's rhetoric insufficiently pro-American, his 2012 RNC speech was filled with catchphrases like Obama's "a complete and absolute failure," and he just branded the President "a moron" in his Arizona invocation of Neville Chamberlain at Munich, all of it presumably a new form of nationalist celebration.
In 2012, Rudy even blasted Obama, without a glance in the mirror, for "attempting to exploit" the killing of Osama Bin Laden, calling it "disgusting."
Rudy contends that his not-like-us Obama insights have nothing to do with race, adding in day-after doubling down that the President "was taught to be a critic of America," while pointing out that his mother and grandparents were white.
There are few in New York now, after 12 years of Mike Bloomberg and a year of Bill de Blasio, who doubt that Rudy was a conscious, almost energetic, polarizer.
He never acknowledged his dark side then and he's not about to now."
Julie Annie said Mr. Obama never talks about how much he loves his country, and the brain-dead in the Tea-Pee branch of the Gee-Oh-Pee nod their shaggy little heads and stamp their little hooves in agreement. Because facts never get in the way of their toxic hatred:
Barack Obama, February 18, 2015: "(M)ay we all do our part to carry forward the work of perfecting this country that we love."
Barack Obama, February 5, 2015: "May the Lord bless you and keep you, and may He bless this precious country that we love."
Barack Obama, January 28, 2015: "Thank you. God bless you. God bless this country we love."
Barack Obama, September 11, 2013: (We pray for) "our men and women in uniform who defend this country that we love."
Barack Obama, September 11, 2010: "This is how we will preserve and protect the country that we love."
Barack Obama, June 3, 2008: (This is) "our time to offer a new direction for this country that we love."
Barack Obama, March 18, 2008: "(T)hey are a part of America, this country that I love."
From the Rude Pundit: "If President Obama said he loved this country any more, we'd tell him he was smothering us. And Giuliani? Dude, you're a corpse. Go back to your tomb and stop polluting the air the rest of us breathe. You never loved America. You only loved yourself. "
The Tea-Pee-ers love their Rudy, a guy who's as fake and as craven as every charlatan they admire.

Here's what the president said:
UPDATE BELOW:
"The United States of America is fighting a war against terrorists of global reach. The enemy is not a single political regime or person or religion or ideology. The enemy is terrorism — premeditated, politically motivated violence perpetrated against innocents.
In many regions, legitimate grievances prevent the emergence of a lasting peace. Such grievances deserve to be, and must be, addressed within a political process."
[snip]
"In the war against global terrorism, we will never forget that we are ultimately fighting for our democratic values and way of life. Freedom and fear are at war, and there will be no quick or easy end to this conflict. In leading the campaign against terrorism, we are forging new, productive international relationships and redefining existing ones in ways that meet the challenges of the twenty-first century."
Julie Annie had this to say about President Obama after hearing what he said about terrorism:
"I do not believe that the president loves America." |
"The former New York mayor, speaking in front of the 2016 Republican presidential contender and about 60 right-leaning business executives and conservative media types, directly challenged Obama’s patriotism, discussing what he called weak foreign policy decisions and questionable public remarks when confronting terrorists.
'I do not believe, and I know this is a horrible thing to say, but I do not believe that the president loves America,' Giuliani said during the dinner at the 21 Club, a former Prohibition-era speakeasy in midtown Manhattan. 'He doesn’t love you. And he doesn’t love me. He wasn’t brought up the way you were brought up and I was brought up through love of this country.' "
"[President Obama] wasn't brought up the way you were brought up and I was brought up..." |
"...I was brought up through love of this country." |
The first quotation above was from a speech by former President George W. Bush.
Obviously, he doesn't love America either. The only person who knows how to love America is America's cross-dressing Mayor Julie Annie. You tell 'em Julie what it means to be a true PATRIOT and above all, a dignified public servant!
It's all about the make-up, BABY!
UPDATE:
Rudy Giuliani claimed that Barack Hussein Obama wasn't brought up the way we were or he was.
Right. Here's Rudy Giuliani's background that's just like yours and mine, but not like President Obama's:
It's true that Barack Obama wasn't brought up like Rudy Giuliani. Mr. Obama's father and step-father weren't felons, like Giuliani's father, nor was Mr. Obama's father or step-father a Mafioso enforcer, like Giuliani's father was. So Rudy was correct in that Mr. Obama wasn't brought up like he was.
An Extremist Dream Come True!
Man Accused Of Torching Islamic Center Allegedly Said 'They Got What They Deserved'
A homeless Texas man accused of setting fire to an Islamic center in Houston may have done so because he "hated Muslims."
At a probable cause hearing on Tuesday for Darryl Ferguson, 55, prosecutors rejected the suspect's claim that he lit the Quba Islamic Institute on fire in an effort to keep warm, KPRC 2 reports.
"He told a nearby convenience store clerk that he hated Muslims, they got what they deserved, and things happen for a reason," Harris County District Attorney Devon Anderson said at the hearing. Ferguson has been charged with arson in the Friday morning fire that destroyed one of three buildings at the Islamic center, just days after a North Carolina man was accused of killing three Muslim college students.
With FAUX NOOZ and the lunatic right-wing fringies bellowing and vomiting out their anti-Muslim rhetoric, no one's surprised that Ferguson acted out against Muslims. In the warped mind of extremist Tea-Pee-ers, all Muslims are terrorists and need to be eliminated--ALL OF THEM, according to them, all Muslim men, women, and children, regardless of where they live or how peaceful they are.
Found on a Tea-Pee-er's blog. The usual crackpots were in total agreement with this call for genocide:
"Very frankly I think it is time for US to start practicing out-and-out GENOCIDE on the Muslim world. Keep killing every man woman and child in sight and keep destroying their towns and all their infrastructure till either they surrender andBEG on bended knee for the privilege of doing it do it OUR way, - OR - until they and every trace of their benighted presence are utterly ERADICATED from the face of the earth.
This pussy talk about how "terrible" it is is just that weak, foolish PUSSY TALK. Of COURSE it's terrible. WAR IS HELL, and the best thing anyone could do to anyone who STARTS a war would be to ANNIHILATE them."
This comment advocating genocide was not taken down. In fact, several loonies heartily agreed with it and praised the warped mind that produced it. Now watch for these people to put up Jesus-themed posts on Sunday. Because they know in their hearts that Jesus would approve of killing 1 billion plus human beings, wouldn't he.
The way to solve the problem of terrorism is to commit genocide on 1 billion+ people?
(BTW, the comment is so bat-shyte crazy extreme, I suspect the Tea-Pee-ers are being trolled by a fake Cringe Fringer. The astounding part, if that's true, is how gullible they are. Well maybe not astounding, just expected. They DID leave it up and they DID respond favorably to the idea of genocide.)
Remember folks, these are the same people who call liberalism a mental disorder.

Here's something you won't read...
on extreme-right wing Bagger blogs, because it doesn't fit their insane narrative that insists President Obama is a "secret Muslim" and a Christian-hating Commie. But enough about crazy people and their paranoia. Here's what President Obama wrote in a LATimes Op-Ed today:
From Talking Points Memo:
President Barack Obama on Wednesday neutralized a conservative line of attack on his approach to terrorism by condemning a recent mass beheading in Libya as the "murder of Egyptian Christians."
Conservatives and evangelicals cried foul when the White House released a statement Monday on the beheadings of 21 Egyptian Coptic Christians by Libyan militants claiming affiliation with the Islamic State terror group. The statement referred to the victims as "Egyptian citizens" instead of Egyptian Christians. But in an op-ed published Wednesday in the Los Angeles Times, Obama dispelled that ambiguity.
"In Syria and Iraq, the terrorist group we call ISIL has slaughtered innocent civilians and murdered hostages, including Americans, and has spread its barbarism to Libya with the murder of Egyptian Christians," he wrote.
The President called for international unity in the fight against the Islamic State as world leaders gathered in Washington for a three-day summit on countering violent extremism. He emphasized that strategies other than the use of military force must be employed if the global community hopes to wipe out terrorism.
"Efforts to counter violent extremism will only succeed if citizens can address legitimate grievances through the democratic process and express themselves through strong civil societies," Obama wrote.
"Those efforts must be matched by economic, educational and entrepreneurial development so people have hope for a life of dignity."
********************************
And if you don't believe me when I say the extremists in the right wing Bagger blogsphere are insane, just read this from one of the inmates of "American Thinker," a far right-wing site that apparently employs people whose IQs are not quite as high as a bowl of spit.
Conservative author says photo shows Obama ‘flashing one-finger affirmation of Islamic faith’
Can anyone imagine how the fruitcakes over at American Thinker would react if they saw an American president holding hands with or even, Gourd forbid, kissing an Arab prince? An Arab prince of a country where 15 of the 19 September 11th hijackers came from? Can you imagine what the loonies @A.T. would be hooting about if an American president did THAT?!
MOOSLIM!
Oh...wait...
Not Mooslim! |

MOOSLIM! |
MOOSLIMS! MOOSLIMS! EVERYWHERE MOOSLIMS! |
Yes. And the people who read American Thinker are the same people who claim liberalism is a mental disorder.

Your GOP Congress at Work
"The American people voting in the 2014 elections told the country what they wanted and it was a "rejection" of President Obama (this is what the Tea-Pee-ers and the Gee-Oh-Pee-ers tell themselves).
And here is that rejection Congress at work:
The Miami Herald:
Congressional Republicans bungled just about every chance to take action on immigration reform. President Obama, eventually, took action on immigration reform. So the GOP doesn’t want to fund the Department of Homeland Security.
DHS, is set to run out of money on Feb. 27, less than two weeks from now. For all its faults, DHS should not be the political football with which the Republican-controlled Congress attempts to score a touchdown against President Obama.
(That makes sense, no? Well possibly if you're a part of the "I Don't Know How to Govern" GOP Congress.)
Ben Jacobs at The Daily Beast:
Weeks after winning the Senate, soon-to-be Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell had a nice thought: “We will not be shutting the government down or threatening to default on the federal debt,” he said. With less than two weeks before yet another government shutdown, chaos remains and dysfunction is still normal.
The Washington Post:
At this point, it’s anyone’s guess whether the stalemate can be broken. Congress returns Feb. 23 from recess, at which point it will have just five days to resolve the deadlock. House Republicans are so far refusing to budge, imagining they will be able to shift the blame for another shutdown onto the Democrats. This is magical thinking.
WASHINGTON – The House of Representatives seems to be trying mightily to make itself irrelevant, with Speaker John Boehner leading the effort. I can’t help but think of the old proverb: “The dogs bark, but the caravan moves on.”
The caravan, in this case, consists of President Obama, the Senate and the American people. It’s still early, but one has to wonder whether anything but yipping and yapping will emerge from the House before the next election. Prospects, thus far, are not promising.
Under Boehner’s leadership, the House insists on holding the Department of Homeland Security hostage in an attempt to force Obama to undo his executive actions on immigration. Funding for the agency expires at the end of the month, and the House refuses to take up a simple appropriations bill without attaching unrelated immigration measures that have no chance of getting past the Senate or the president.
The timing of this attempted power play is less than exquisite. Each day seems to bring new reminders of the potential threat posed by terrorism. A group allied with the Islamic State parades 21 Coptic Christians onto a beach in Libya and savagely beheads them. A lone-wolf gunman stages a deadly attack in Copenhagen, perhaps modeled on the Charlie Hebdo killing spree in Paris.
So is this the moment to play political games with the nation’s safety from terrorist attacks? “Certainly,” said Boehner, when asked Sunday whether he was prepared to see Homeland Security run out of funding.
Like a dog who chased a car and finally caught it, these guys don't know what to do with Congress. Completely Callous and Chaotic |

(Those who read this blog also know of a blogger on the far right who can't write about cultural icons without mentioning their religious backgrounds. Why? I dunno. Ask a Nazi.)
Lesley Gore was one of my favorite pop singers. There was so much about her that was talented, genuine, and human. R.I.P. Lesley.
Beginning in 2004, Gore hosted the PBS television series In the Life, which focused on LGBT issues. She stated in a 2005 interview that she was a lesbian.
At the time of the interview, Gore had been living with her partner for more than 23 years. Death According to her partner of 33 years, Lois Sasson, Gore died February 16, 2015, at the NYU Langone Medical Center in Manhattan, New York City of lung cancer.
Good-bye Lesley. You were wonderful. Ahead of your time. And we shall miss you very, very much.
Here's some Stupid for breakfast...
Written by a Trog:
"Boston is buried in Glowball Wormening.. "
Einstein once observed, that stupidity may be infinite. The above quote confirms it. The poor Trog doesn't know the difference between climate and weather, and he's proud of his ignorance. But when that's all you've got, why not show off your fatuity?
"Trends of a Changing ClimateWeather is the day-to-day mix of atmospheric phenomena you experience — a warm sunny day, a biting cold snap, a sudden storm, or even crazy dust devil.
Climate is the long-term weather patterns for an entire region — the tropics are warm and wet, deserts are dry, and the Pacific Northwest is perpetually overcast. Occasional abnormal weather can be inconvenient and even damaging, but shifts in climate far more alarming.
Bombogenesis is a delightfully fun word to say, but is substantially less fun to experience.
The 2013 climate analysis report produced by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)'s National Climactic Data Center and the year-end summary published by NASA's Earth Observatory spell out the difference in distressing detail.
Every year since 1976 has been above-average temperatures. Anyone 37 or younger has never experienced an average year."
Stupids of the world, UNITE! The Pit of Dumbassness Awaits You!
