QUACK! QUACK! QUACK! On To 2016!

I've written about how wrong the right wing news outlets and bloggers have been about this past year in Mr. Obama's presidency.  Despite the T-GOP's hold on Congress, they've done very little to disrupt President Obama's penultimate year in office, and it's a good bet they'll do even less in 2016, try as they may to stop him from enacting Shari'ah law, putting Texans in FEMA camps, and confiscating everyone's guns. But we're sure they'll continue to look for amazing information in Hawaii on President Obama's birth certificate.

PM Carpenter's post on President Obama's 2015:

"… he restored diplomatic relations with Cuba; he reached a nuclear agreement with the otherwise incorrigible Iranian government; he is well on his way to securing the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade accord (hardly the working-class disaster deemed by some); he successfully defended the Affordable Care Act before a dubious Supreme Court; he has contained ISIS, notwithstanding Republican hysterics that we are doomed to slave under Sharia smuggled into the republic by a Muslim-loving, America-hating chief executive; and he passed a budget — one not particularly to my liking, but passing any budget through this unspeakably torpid Congress is nothing short of epic. Best of all, President Obama has given congressional Republicans a nasty case of the political shingles. Try as they might to triumph, they keep losing to a lame duck. There's an operatic beauty to it — the amplified pseudoconservative frenzy, that is — that just gets better and better. Here's to an even more splendid 2016."

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Obama's quiet leadership:

Even as some Americans wonder aloud why President Obama isn’t being more bombastic when it comes to addressing the ISIS threat, he keeps finding ways to quietly win the fight against the terrorist group. Two days after the Obama-led international coalition drove ISIS out of the key Iraqi city of Ramadi entirely, he’s now achieved an arguably more symbolic victory: the ringleaders behind the deadly ISIS attack in Paris earlier this year have now been taken out in their home countries.

Happy 2016 Shaw!

He's coming for the guns, too. Bwahahahahaha!

It's going to be a good year after all.

It is true the Republican majority congress has done little, scratch that, nothing to thwart BHO and his pen. The democrats took advantage of a majority to pass obamacare which has proven to cost more and provide less in the way of healthcare that thought imaginable.

Oh well, Have a safe and Happy New Year and we can all look forward to a better 2016.

Trump the powerful, the left's fear is growing.....he's even with the pantsuit queen in some polls.... and just this week he nullified Bubba.

Yes, Anon, we remember when the powerful Sarah "I can see Russia from my house" Palin was pulling ahead in the polls with John McCain, and we remember how "skeerd" the left was of her.

You're quite naive if you believe Trump will be the next president or even be nominated.

BTW, wha happen to Kindly Dr. Ben Carson? Remember how "powerful" his campaign was?

Carry on in your T-GOP bubble. It's cute.

Remember when the libruls were "skeerd" of Ben Carson when he was in first and second place in polls? And remember when the wingnut were so sure he'd make a terrific president. His own paarty and people are abandoning him. They've realized he's a joke.

Ben Carson’s presidential campaign in total disarray after 20 staffers follow top advisers out the door

Happy New Year Shaw as another one bites the dust.

Thanks Obama!

For serving your country with dignity; grace in the face of daily hatred, bigotry and prejudice. For representing America around the world with intelligence and thoughtful expression. For being a light in the darkness of a cynical congress. Thanks for trying (and succeeding) to move our country forward (not backwards like the con party). Thank you Mrs. Michelle Obama for being a perfect example of a supportive wife, devoted committed mother, and a wonderful role model for ALL women and girls. So proud to call the Obama's our First Family, including grandma!

Another one for your list, Shaw

Although it's clearly something that the right will find troubling.

"And I do hope my video helps us remember our feelings for this great country, even when we are feeling discouraged and angry and even vengeful!"
This may play into the vengeful emotions being expressed by some on the right.

skud, why be so quick to declare the ACA a failure? Surely the task of reforming our health insurance system isn't going to be accomplished overnight. Also, it might have ben more effective with constructive input from the right instead of steady roadblocks.

Happy New Year, folks.

skud, why declare the ACA a failure? Surely a task as large as reforming o

As a small government Conservative, I think the only solution to ever rising tuition costs is to privatize all education. We have years of history that whenever the gov't subsidizes something, the cost goes up.

If you want to change the pledge fine, but by any definition the current pledge is legal and proper. No surprise RN and the Captain promote illegality.

Re: The words "under God" in the pledge:

The appeals court, by a 2-1 margin, held that "A profession that we are a nation 'under God' is identical, for Establishment Clause purposes, to a profession that we are a nation 'under Jesus,' a nation 'under Vishnu,' a nation 'under Zeus,' or a nation 'under no god,'" because none of these professions can be neutral with respect to religion; and that the government must pursue a course of complete neutrality toward religion which it violates with "a message of state endorsement of a religious belief when it requires public school teachers to recite, and lead the recitation of the current form of the pledge." Although students cannot be required to recite the pledge, the appeals court said a student who objects is confronted with an "unacceptable choice between participating and protesting."

The decision was put on hold pending a review by the full court, and the general expectation was that the ruling would be reconsidered at that time. However, on 28 February 2003 the Ninth Circuit court declined to reconsider, and the decision was again temporarily stayed to give the school district 90 days to ask the Supreme Court to review the ruling.

A few points of clarification about this issue:

The decision applies only to the nine Western states under the Ninth Circuit court's jurisdiction: Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, and Washington.

The ruling does not make the Pledge of Allegiance "unconstitutional" or "illegal" per se; it holds that the current version of the Pledge of Allegiance (which includes the words "under God") may not be recited in public schools as part of a teacher-led or school-sanctioned activity. Technically, schools could still lead recitations of the original version of the pledge (before the 1954 insertion of the words "under God"), and students could still choose to recite either version on their own.

The decision could conceivably be overturned through any one of several procedures:
The defendants could appeal to have the Supreme Court hear their case.
Congress could propose, and state legislatures could ratify, a constitutional amendment explicitly establishing the constitutionality of the Pledge of Allegiance."

And may Trump go bump, bump, bump right into a trash compacted.

And may he take the whole Republican party down with him. Given the snot-nosed, petulant, infantile, tantrum-throwing character of the Republican opposition to Obama these seven years, Trump is just what they deserve. He's their id set free, the logical end-point of their trajectory as a party.

Democrats and Republicans should remember, Obama is not on the ballot for president this year. It's hard to know that, listening to both sides.

Shaw Kenawe said...

Anon, not all TeaPublicans understand the concept that Obama is not on the ballot. They even post inane photos on their blogs featuring Obama that say "Change His Address in 2016." That's how dumb they are. Change his address? I guess they don't know that the Constitution does that automatically after a president wins two terms. But, y'know, it is the Stupid Party.
