DON'T LISTEN TO TRUMP!

As of today, March 25, Massachusetts has 1,100 cases and 11 deaths.

55,000 cases in the U.S.

Trump wants us to get back to interacting with each other by Easter. He's worried about the economy, NOT the lives of Americans. No epidemiologist or infectious disease expert agrees with Trump's foolish expectations. Ignore him.

Anyone could do a better job than trump is doing. We should shut the country down for at lest six months but he wants those who tested negative to return to work with others who tested negative. How absurd is that plan.

Now we are spending two trillion dollars to bail out businesses and aid families who have been affected. I read a little on what the appropriations are going for and I did not see one mention of shovel ready jobs or buying junk cars. This plan will never work.
The house bill at least included things that are important like bailing out the post office and giving money to solar energy companies. The airlines now have a chance to become carbon neutral and unions have the ability to squeeze companies for more.

Glad to see out elected elite are doing their job of saving the country through greed and arrows.

skud,Every single infectious disease expert, every epidemiologist, every scientist says that Trump's suggestion to go back to work on April 12 is reckless.

Who're you going to listen to during a health crises, skud? The medical experts or a failed casino operator and reality tv star?

It will be REAL hard for Trump Republicans, who are now suggesting we risk 2.5% of the population - or 8+ million people - so we can prematurely reopen the economy, to make the pro-life case after this.

And I quote...

"“We have it totally under control, It’s one person coming in from China, and we have it under control. It’s — going to be just fine.”

Said our president as he spoke to the American people on Feb. 25, Feb. 24, Feb. 23, Jan. 30 and Jan. 22.

You tell me conservatives... was he wrong all those times, or lying to us?

Giving trump the benefit of doubt I'd be willing to say he's just no smarter than a piss ant Dave.

Dave Miller said...

Skud... if Pres Trump would stop sharing incorrect/false/misleading information, we'd be miles better off than we are now.

In any normal admin, a president would have enlisted former presidents to films PSA's asking Americans to join in the effort to confront and defeat this virus. He would have asked them to help bring America together. And they would have all pitched in and served.

Why has Pres Trump chosen not to use a great resource available to him to rally our country?

Any other pres would have done so. because they've done it in the past.

Rusty... you're on the Rev train too? As for the 60% number, you know as well as I do that it only matters if it's true in the 5 states that will determine the election...

PA, MI, WI, FL, OH

And maybe NC.

Shaw Kenawe said...

Dave, I deleted Rusty.. Why does he come here? He has called me the most vile and disgusting name then comes to my blog and expects me to let him communicate with my commenters? I wouldn’t let that creep into my home, and he’s not welcome here on my blog.

He should stick to WYD. That blog is where he belongs.

Rev, Are those quotes from the NYT or Washington Post because they said to if you think this is from china you are a racist. They said that as late as February with the Chinese new year and their sponsoring parades.

What is wrong with having confirmed negative result people working with confirmed negative result people. Is it that they don't rely of the federal trough any more and they take responsibility for themselves or what is the objection? How can someone who tests negative infect others who test negative, I will admit that is confusing but what do I know.

The five states who determine the election is the prime reason we have the Electoral College so the largest determine the election and disregard the Other Americans in middle America.

Few questions that I am sure you can answer in this time of crisis,
How does increase funding to solar companies help the country, How does refurbishing the JFK center help the county, how does forcing airlines to reduce their carbon footprint help the country, how does 25 billion to bail out the USPS.

Hello Shaw - wow have the trolls been losing their minds! Well, what minds they had to lose in the first place. Seriously they aren't using their thinking caps, and I'm including skud in with the regular trolls this time. Do they sound worried to you? Because they sound worried to me. :D

Regarding testing... has anyone actually been tested? And by that I mean anyone not presenting with symptoms who is not a celebrity, politically connected, or insanely wealthy? Based on the anecdotal data no one I know has received a test. We are all hunkered down in our homes waiting, just waiting.

So exactly how is the Dear Leader for whom no bad words are allowed to be said or his fee fee's get hurt going to test everyone in the country? We The People can't even get the sick folks tested.

I've heard the plan of coming out of quarantine on Easter likened to leaving one's lead lined coffin to jump into Chernobyl right after the reactor turned critical. As the death toll rises I agree with that assessment. I know why the Dear Leader chose Easter - his Evangelical base sees that as some sort of mystic prophecy fulfillment. Thing with prophecy though is it's tricksy and doesn't always unfold as you expect.

Hey - if everyone who jumps out at Easter no matter if the infection/death numbers are rising or not and all those people die that could be interpreted as the Rapture. Like I said - tricksy.

Personally I'm staying put until there are no new cases for at least a week. No freaking way am I sacrificing myself or anyone else for that matter to the vultures of Wall Street.

Occupy USA!!!

Grey, That is the great thing about this country. You can make your own decisions how to handle yourself. You choose to hermit down and some chose to be cautious and live that is personal choice and you should be applauded. Testing depends on social status. If you are a politician, entertainer or professional athlete the test is available, if not you will have to wait. There are drugs going into clinical trials, one of them trump got blasted for saying it may have promise.

It took another administration almost three months to acknowledge a virus was of pandemic proportions and over 12000 Americans died. Somehow that administration was not blamed for slow action. Now the current administration doesn't admit something they don't know the severity of for a month and they are at fault. Maybe we should shut down the country every September - February during flu season because it kills thousands.

If we could keep politicians out of this we would get through it much quicker and better, and that especially includes trump, madam botox and chuckles. The left is great in predicting the sky is falling and somehow it doesn't.

Dave Miller said...

Skud said... " If you are a politician, entertainer or professional athlete the test is available, if not you will have to wait."

Skud... that indeed seems to be the truth, unless you are already presenting with symptoms.

So, can you answer the question not one single conservative blogger common among us will answer?

Was Pres Trump and/or his admin, wrong, uninformed, or lying when he said "anybody who needs a test" can get a test?

skudrunner said...

He was wrong and uninformed. If he knew the correct answer and didn't say it then he was lying. How many people are wanting to get tested who present no symptoms. Did all of the celebrities and athletes who got tested have symptoms and how many of our elected elite have to wait to be tested.

Trump is to blame for not being better informed prior to his comments but as to being better prepared, how can you prepare for something that no one has seen before. Was biden to blame for not allowing restocking of medical equipment after n1h1, some say he was.

Did the Chinese know the dangers and cover it up, yes. How many decades and administrations have allowed china to to pilfer our manufacturing. How many administrations have said enough, only one that I can think of. I am not a trump supporter because of his a crudeness but he doesn't support an open door giveaway with nothing in return and pay billions so our enemies are better equipped to fight us.

Dave Miller said...

Skud said... "Trump is to blame for not being better informed prior to his comments but as to being better prepared, how can you prepare for something that no one has seen before."

This is a frequent question from Pres Trump and conservatives. However the idea that you can't prepare for something that no one has seen before, in this case, is a red herring.

We've known for weeks and now we have strong reporting, and the actual document, that the Trump Admin had in fact been presented with the possibility of a pandemic hitting the US. And not only had they been presented with that possibility, the incoming administration had participated in a preparedness exercise on how to respond to pandemics.

We know that they Admin had written guidelines on how to respond to pandemics including an entire section of if this, then responses.

So let's all understand one thing... The Trump Admin, which even Skud admits was wrong or uninformed, did have a plan to address a pandemic. They just chose to ignore it. Because, in his words, "only" he can fix it.

They were criminally negligent... and they chose to be.

skudrunner said...

So Rev does that mean the previous administration was criminally negligent for not preparing for the n1h1. Were they criminally negligent for not rebuilding the stockpile of supplies they depleted.

Unfortunately for the public we have had two presidents who were not prepared to lead. We should have known that about one who drew a red line and ran to putin when his bluff was called and we have another who is the self described smartest person on the planet and listens to no one.

Illnesses should be left to the scientists to determine the correct action. Politics should be left to the criminally inclined incompetent crooks. At least one of those is being accomplished.

Dave Miller said...

Well Skud... you brought up Pres Obama again... If he was, and I doubt it, criminally negligent on any front, you should wonder why the GOP led Senate and House did not investigate Pres Obama at all. And then ask yourself why the GOP led House and Senate never found any criminal guilt after years of investigating HRC about her time in the Obama Admin.

But beyond those sticky and inconvenient facts... It should be noted that the first case of the H1N1 virus was reported in the states on April 15, 2009. Within 11 days of that, on April 26, 2009, Pres Obama declared a National Emergency. Let's compare that with Trump's coronavirus response.

The first case on US soil was reported on Jan 20, 2020. And Pres Trump declared a National Emergency on March 13, 2020... a full 53 days after he was aware of the problem. And more than 2 months after his admin admits knowing about the disease. It was also 15 days after Sen Burr received his briefing on how bad this would be from the Trump Admin.

The actual book on how to deal with this was partly assembled and improved upon after the Obama Admin admitted they were behind the curve in dealing with H1N1. So they looked at where they screwed up, and put together a plan for themselves and future administrations.

It is that plan, from an admin that responded within 15 days to a potential disaster, that Pres trump and his admin disregarded, to the detriment of the American people, even though the warning signs and reports from his admin about the seriousness of the problem, we're everywhere.

But I get it... it's easier to take pot shots at 57 states Barack Obama, then deal with the facts of an admin that has been wrong, or uninformed, your words, and has repeatedly lied to the American people about the seriousness and their response to Covid-19.

skudrunner said...

Rev, The reason the former administration was not investigated for the n1h1 is because they did nothing criminally wrong. Unlike the current administration the press did not have outright hatred toward obama.

You seem to have your dates confused about the n1h1. It was discovered in April 2009 but it was not until October that his greatness declared it a national emergency. The n1h1 was declared a pandemic in June 2009 or three months after it was discovered. Damn facts.

Dave Miller said...

Well Skud... speaking of damn facts... the CDC reports that the US government declared a National Emergency on... wait for it, April 26, 2009, exactly as I said.

Here's the link.

https://www.cdc.gov/flu/pandemic-resources/2009-pandemic-timeline.html

You might want to lay off the Faux News Trump OAN Network false facts...

skudrunner said...

Actually Rev I don't watch fox. The obama administration declared it a national health emergency in April 2009 but wasn't declared a pandemic until June. Social distancing was never preached and 12500 people died in the US. I got this from the highly conservative snopes. Regardless the democrats have finally found something on trump that will stick and they can play it to the max. Question is who will be the first female president.

Hope you stay safe and what is the word from Mexico on the virus because they are not in the news except if you are crossing the border to enter Mexico you need to be screened.

Shaw Kenawe said...

Dave, thanks for the clarifications and facts. I'm afraid it's wasted on our friend, skud. Skud claims the press at the time of the H1N1 didn't hate Mr. Obama the way it hates Trump. Skud needs to examine why after 3+ years he's still bashing, hating on, Mr. Obama and trying to compare what he did to what Trump's doing. As the facts bear out, doing that only makes Trump look even more incompetent.

Today the NYTimes reports that FEMA is "reviewing" the cost of the government producing ventilators for Americans. The cost? $1 billion!

The supposed "pro-life" GOP is wavering about producing life-saving ventilators! What a scandal!

Shaw Kenawe said...

Grey One..." Long time no see! Glad to have you here.

The Trump "Pro-Life" administration is still reviewing spending $1 billion for ventilators to save American lives.

"WASHINGTON — The White House had been preparing to reveal on Wednesday a joint venture between General Motors and Ventec Life Systems that would allow for the production of as many as 80,000 desperately needed ventilators to respond to an escalating pandemic when word suddenly came down that the announcement was off.

The decision to cancel the announcement, government officials say, came after the Federal Emergency Management Agency said it needed more time to assess whether the estimated cost was prohibitive. That price tag was more than $1 billion, with several hundred million dollars to be paid upfront to General Motors to retool a car parts plant in Kokomo, Ind., where the ventilators would be made with Ventec’s technology.

Government officials said that the deal might still happen but that they are examining at least a dozen other proposals. And they contend that an initial promise that the joint venture could turn out 20,000 ventilators in short order had shrunk to 7,500, with even that number in doubt. Longtime emergency managers at FEMA are working with military officials to sort through the competing offers and federal procurement rules while under pressure to give President Trump something to announce.

By early Thursday evening, at the coronavirus task force’s regular news briefing, where the president often appears, there was still nothing to disclose, and the outcome of the deliberations remained unclear."

This "reviewing" and looking for the best deal should have been done months ago. Apparently, the Trump administration didn't listen to the scientists, medical experts, and Dr. Fauci!

Dave Miller said...

Skud and others... regarding Mexico.

In theory, they are screening at the border. It's hit and miss. I was screened when I flew in in February at the Mexico City airport, as was everyone on the plane, before we disembarked.

The president, Manuel Lopez Obrador, AMLO for short, has been pretty cavalier about this. He has continued to hug people everywhere, shake hands and not promote social distancing. Yet his government has a cute cartoon character everywhere on television urging ppl to maintain distance and wash hands. AMLO has claimed he is safe because he has a couple of "loteria" cards in his pocket as good luck charms. He has also urged ppl to go about life as normal.

There have been governors in the country that have just been stupid. One told his ppl they were safe because "poor people" are immune from coronavirus.

Finally we are starting to see some effort at distancing.

In some areas, I have no idea how that happens. If you need food, you don't go to the supermarket, you go to the big mercado, with 10,000 other people cramped in small spaces, much like New York. Supplies are low.

There are not many known cases right now, but that is attributed to low testing numbers. There are not enough doctors, or nurses to go around if Mexico is indeed hit even reasonably hard. Imagine Italy or New York City... only worse.

Mexico City, with 22 million ppl, is dense. 10 people for every 1000 square feet of space. Sanitation is not good and public transportation is the only way to get around efficiently. It's an incubator for disaster. And once Mexico City explodes, the entire country will follow as people travel.

I fully believe Mexico is staring down a total disaster.

skudrunner said...

Dave, hopefully Mexico doesn't get hit that hard but with the history of corrupt leaders they have had it probably won't be good.

Ms Shaw, I was not part of the special interest or rich groups the former president took care of so I do have a different opinion of his competence. I was on the side of being attacked and insulted so I don't share your love for him. Trump is horrible but he is the current president and we will see who will be the first female president in November.
