(Reuters) - A majority of Americans, including many Republicans, want the winner of the November presidential election to name a successor to Ruth Bader Ginsburg on the U.S. Supreme Court, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll released on Sunday."
Don't look to Trump or the GOP to honor Justice Ginsburg's wish nor what the American people want.
For the present Trumpublican Party, all they care about is grabbing and holding onto power and "payback" for the years President Obama was in office. Those, may I remind the vindictive Trumpublicans, never saw the racial unrest, divisiveness, and chaos that Trump has brought to this country. Under President Obama, the USA was admired and looked up to. We've lost all of that in 3 1/2 miserable years under Trump.
His mishandling of the Covid-19 is the absolute worst of what he's done, and Trump has managed to do a lot of awful things.
Trump is a dishonorable man; therefore, he will never honor Justice Ginsburg's dying wish.
And the truth is that because Trump has no human decency, this breach in human decency will not weigh on his conscience -- if he even has one.
So the man who has made a career of lying, cheating, and being a fraud will continue to do what a lying, cheating, fraudulent scoundrel does -- ignore the will of the American people and the reasonable wish of a dying Supreme Court Justice and nominate some far right, rabid conservative who does not represent what the majority of Americans believe in.
We are being held in thrall by a tyranny of the minority, facilitated by the IMPEACHED and corrupt Trump, William Barr, and Mitch McConnell.
May their names live in infamy in American history for all the ages.

McConnell announcement today that the Democrats want to stack the court.
This from the ferret who has not only stacked it but wants more. The Russians
and evangelicals lap it up. At what point will the GOP be termed a terrorist
group?
If republicans vote to replace Ginsburg, Joe Biden will have no choice but to pack the courts. I saw Eli Mystal on MSNBC yesterday make a compelling case for doing so. Went to YouTube today, found it and posted it to my blog. He says he would have no problem with a 100 justice court -- if it gets that way eventually because every new administration (at least when there is a party switch and the party in power controls the Senate) adds more justices.
I say McConnell broke it and we can NOT deal with a hard right court for a generation. Just think of the rights they'd roll back. For people. The rights of corporations would be greatly expanded. This is something that can NOT be allowed to happen.
BB... The GOP announced today that they have the votes. It's going to happen. And sadly, Dems have no one to blame but themselves. The could've campaigned in Michigan in 2016. They had no business spending money and time in Texas while taking PA, MI and WI for granted. Flat out, the Dems ran a deeply flawed candidate and campaign.
Now, that's not to say all is lost.
This will animate the Dems and take the fight off the Trump radar. That's good for the Dems who once they get in can make DC a state. Then they can, if they want, add seats, it's not packing, to the SCOTUS, making it more reflective of America. The Dems can then move to remake the judiciary into a more liberal, young bench. They can pass a permanent Voting Rights Act. They can reinforce the ACA.
Win the Senate and win the White House. That's where the Dems need to focus.
In the minds of the far right white supreamacists and misogynists trump is, and I quote, a Christ like figure. There is just no understanding the hypocrisy and blatant irrationality of the trumptard cultists.
If the tables were turned and the democrats had the majority they would try to slam someone through as well. It is unfortunate that the supreme court is based on partisan politics but it is. They should be interpreting the constitution instead of forming the law based on their own agenda.
All of the accolades about Gindburg being the first women on the court and all she did for women will go up in flames as the new female candidate is raked through the coals. Civility doesn't exist anymore and everything is political.
skud Justice Ginsburg was NOT the first female on the Supreme Court. Sandra Day O'Connor was.
skud: "Civility doesn't exist anymore and everything is political."
Yes. And we can blame the current Trumpublican Party for that descent into corruption, lying, and fraud on an epic scale.
We're learning more and more about how the Mueller Report ABSOLUTELY DID find that Trump obstructed justice (more of it is being released through the FOIA), but Mueller had no way to charge Trump, since the OLC (not a law) claims a sitting president cannot be indicted, and the corrupt A.G., Barr, deliberately misinterpreted the Mueller Report and held back crucial parts that made it clear that Trump willing accepted Russian help to get him elected and obstructed justice during the investigation of that corrupt act.
Also, skud, you nostalgically mention Ronald Reagan as the sort of presidency that you'd like to see America return to.
May I remind you that the Reagan Administration was ONE OF THE MOST CORRUPT since Richard Nixon's.
You blithely disregard that fact and continue to come here and trash President Obama, who had a scandal-free 8 years.
This means that you are politically motivated in your dislike of Mr. Obama and blind to how corrupt Republican Administrations have been: Nixon, Reagan, Bush, Jr., and the worst, TRUMP'S.
A blind person can see your political bias because you never mention how corrupt and scandal-ridden Ronald Reagan's presidency was, but you never miss an opportunity to talk about President Obama and the 57 states. HINT: misspeaking about 57 states instead of 50 is not the same as having a Reagan presidency resulting in the investigation, indictment, or conviction of over 138 administration officials, the largest number for any U.S. president.
If the worst you can say about President Obama is that he tried to get health care coverage for Americans with pre-existing conditions, etc., without any help from the GOP, then you've got nuthin'. What Mr. Obama tried to do was something positive. The plan needed tweaking (as did Medicare and Social Security when first introduced), but the Republicans were nowhere to be seen, and they certainly didn't believe in helping fellow Americans with a form of affordable health care -- LIKE EVERY MODERN DEMOCRATIC SOCIETY ON THE PLANET.
The so=called "exception" USA, can't manage to do what every other modern democratic society has done -- THANKS TO THE GOP.
But! Obama said "57 states!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Shaw... here's an interesting article I think folks on the left might enjoy now that Romney has capitulated to Lord Mitch...
Hope for the Dems
Thank your cult leader Dotard donnie and Moscow Mitch the Bitch McConnell for the total lack of civility. Dotard donnie is a vile swamp creature who has demeaned and attempted to shame volumes of people FAR FAR BETTER than his miserable character. Yet you skud refuse to be honest for once and acknowledge what he is. BTW, there is NO comparison possible with the democrats and Dotard donnie or the slimy corrupt party of the elephant. They are JUST THAT BAD.
Romney is twisting himself into a pretzel to get back into the black graces of Moscow Mitch the Bitch McConnell.
We have to wait until after the inauguration, not only after the election, particularly if Biden is elected!
Dotard believes that the election will be decided by the Supreme Court. That is why they can't wait until the lame duck session.
predisent Dotard: "I think this [the election] will end up in the Supreme Court, and I think it's very important that we have nine justices".
He is also going to try to get as many of the mail in ballots tossed as possible. Asked if he'd commit to a peaceful transfer of power Dotard said, "We're going to have to see what happens. You know that. I've been complaining very strongly about the ballots. And the ballots are a disaster. Get rid of the ballots and you'll have a very peaceful — there won't be a transfer, frankly, there'll be a continuation. The ballots are out of control. You know it".
Derv
The words by trump that you quoted are the words of a tyrant and wannabe dictator.
If his followrs continue to support Trump after hearing this, we have to accept the reality that there are millions of "Americans" perfectly happy with re-electing a tyrant and dictator.
No POTUS in American history has ever made such a blatant statement undermining democracy.
I remember how the Goopers howled for 8 years about President Obama "hating America," nitpicking his gaffes and misstatements to find the smallest evidence to prove their lie.
Now comes Trump promising to disrupt and delegitimize the coming election with words that Americans never dreamed they'd hear a POTUS speak. And yet Trump said those words because he knows nothing about our form of government; he respects nothing about our form of government; and his narcissism will not allow him to accede to the will of the people should he lose the election.
He HAS to be defeated in November, otherwise the American experiment in self-government is over.
Yes, I agree it will be over.
