"Be there, will be wild!"

Soon-to-be EX-PRESIDENT Trump is encouraging his enablers/cultists (those who don't believe in American democracy and will not accept the will of the American people) to come to DC and be "wild."

Trump tweeted:

“Big protest in D.C. on January 6th. Be there, will be wild!,”

Mr. Trump tweeted earlier this month in an appeal to his supporters to come to the capital to buttress his campaign to overturn the election results. He followed up Sunday,

“See you in Washington, DC, on January 6th. Don’t miss it. Information to follow!”

And again on Wednesday, “JANUARY SIXTH, SEE YOU IN DC!”

*********************

Thanks, Donnie, for the one last super-spreader event before you ride off into the ignominious sunset.

The big question, though, is just what the hell are you going to do with yourself after January 20?

Most former presidents get busy writing their memoirs, but since you're pretty much illiterate, that's likely not on the agenda. Lots of former presidents establish charitable foundations -- but, oh right, you can't do that because you and your children defrauded the last one you set up.

So why not throw a little riot for a few hundred of your nearest, dearest, and most rabid enablers/cultists?

Your relevance is dropping like a rock, but you might as well fleece them while you still can.

Anyway, it's over. It's over just like it was the other sixty-odd times you lost.

 Now go away, will you?

The adults in the People's House have work to do.

10 million people might show up and occupy DC until Dotard's victory is recognized. If successful it will be a second American revolution. As opposed to an unconstitutional coup. This is per a pro-Dotard YouTuber.

Derv 70 million Americans have lost their minds. To continue to support a maniac like Trump proves it.

Look. We've seen history and how charismatic authoritarian strongman can appeal to millions of their fellow citizens.

We Americans have always thought of ourselves as "exceptional." We can now discard that fantasy. Millions of our fellow citizens are happy to participate in sedition against the United States of America because they are unable to face that they're in thrall to a conman, liar, cheat, and fraud!

Like gas this to will pass. The radical right will give up the hope of keeping trump and the left will settle back to believing the government knows best. CNN has already said that they will not go all assault on biden the way they did trump. Joey will be up for a nobel soon just because and the media will have to pick another person to hate after trump goes away, if he ever does.

Cruella has already showed her true self by taking the trump vaccine after saying she wouldn't. Falsie is now all supportive of taking the vaccine that was to take four years to develop. The left will believe announcing the vaccine four days after the election was a coincidence and trump attacking pharma had nothing to do with it.

Wishing joey four years of good health

Anything we can do to make Mitch continue to choose and choose badly is alright with me. As those crazies are gathering, Mitch, because he has more than a few crazy Senators in his brood, will have to tee up a vote on who stands with Trump and who stands with the Constitution.

That's after he refused to even allow a vote on the higher aid for Americans.

Each and everyday we are seeing the reality of the rot in what was once the Grand Old Party.

The American people have had enough of "communism" (aka coronavirus restrictions) at the hands of (mostly) Democrat governors. They're going to rise up and demand Dotard remain in the White House.

Dave and skudrunner

Sasse wrote in his letter that his GOP colleagues realize what is happening but fear crossing the president and his supporters.

“When we talk in private, I haven’t heard a single Congressional Republican allege that the election results were fraudulent — not one,” he said. “Instead, I hear them talk about their worries about how they will ‘look’ to President Trump’s most ardent supporters.

On Wednesday, critics charged that Hawley was seeking to ingratiate himself with Trump’s political base as Hawley considers a possible 2024 presidential run of his own. In a television appearance Wednesday night, Hawley sought to dismiss that argument.

In his letter, Sasse argued that politics is driving the effort.

“Let’s be clear what is happening here: We have a bunch of ambitious politicians who think there’s a quick way to tap into the president’s populist base without doing any real, long-term damage,” Sasse said. “But they’re wrong — and this issue is bigger than anyone’s personal ambitions. Adults don’t point a loaded gun at the heart of legitimate self-government.”

Those Republican Congressmen and women have made the ultimate Faustian bargain.

And the devil will have his due.

PS. I'm not a believer in devils or angels. What is meant by my comment is that those GOP Congressmen and women will eventually pay for selling themselves so cheaply to Trump's cultists.

Rev, The idea of sending 2K checks to people who's financial situation has not changed is a horrible way to increase the debt. Why should someone who still has their job which has not changed or someone who is retired and income has not changed receive a "stimulus" check. I would think increasing unemployment benefits would be a better use of resources than sending checks to people who don't need it. Build a couple of new museums send taxpayer money to foreign countries who hate us, you think that is a good use of your money. The $2,000 check is to buy votes and embarrass the other party no matter which side passes it. The saying you get what you pay for is not true when you are referring to congress because we pay a fortune and get incompetence.

Happy New Year and hoping for a great 2021

Interesting. McConnell didn’t object to this, which literally *is* socialism for the rich -

In 2020, direct government aid to farmers totaled a record-breaking $46 billion. Many farmers received more than $100,000 — yet didn't necessarily need the help.

"It has disproportionately gone to the largest producers," says a farmer in western Iowa.

He's losing it. "Be wild"? What exactly does he expect them to do? Storm Congress while the vote-counting is going on? And what does he think that would accomplish?

I really can't think of another leader in history who managed to be so pathetic and bereft of dignity when leaving office.

All right, something is wrong...terribly wrong.

I actually agree with something that Skud wrote!! Maybe I’m coming down with something (feels forehead). I agree that people who still have their jobs or those whose income haven’t changed (retired folks) do not need $2,000. As the youngest sibling in my family, everyone else is retired and have all said they don’t need the money. As someone who is not able to retire yet and who was laid off in August, I told them all they could easily send their stimulus payments to me!!

Yes, extending the unemployment benefits beyond the measly 11 weeks would help out those of us that truly need the help...

Skud, we could easily means test the availability of the $2000.00 checks. But why should we? We don't means test tax breaks for rich folks or "corporations" that exict as a single lawyer or doctor. I've never heard a conservative, ever, say just giving tax breaks to that class of ppl is a bad idea economically.

Gotta wonder why.

The real reason Mitch doesn't want to give a 2K check to ppl making less that 100K a year is he knows it'll juice the economy and make the GOP look bad.

Shaw, the devil, or satan, represents evil in biblical lore. The GOP, at its core, now represenrs evil.

Comparing the GOP to Satan is an apt and fair comparison. The party owns trump and trump to his core is evil personified.

Moscow Mitch McConnell is just as bad. Maybe worse.

The plan is that 10 million magamorons will occupy DC until Dotard's victory is recognized. Minus FJ posted a video on his blog. They are also hopeful that Pence will simply declare Dotard to be the winner when Congress meets January 6th to formalize the EC vote. Not that he can, constitutionally. But "people can just do things". After which Dotard will be inaugurated, THEN Democrats will sue and it will go to the Supreme Court. But, no matter what the Supreme Court rules, it will be too late.

The current $600 checks are means tested. I don’t see why the $2000 checks wouldn’t be tested the same way.

Dave Miller said...

Jerry... Skud can't think in such a way as to consider that while the $600.00 checks, as you mentioned, are means tested, so would the 2K checks. Because that would completely destroy his narrative.

It's the same for student loan debt. We could forgive a significant portion of that debt, base it on a means testing formula and for millions of younger people, it would be an instant tax cut, sure to flow directly into the economy.

But money flowing into the economy is not something Mitch and the GOP want because a President Biden would get the credit.

Better for the GOP to blockade all aid to Main Street America while the Dems are in the White House and then when the GOP winds the presidency again, which they will, crow about tax cuts for the upper class, who they will claim will then spend it to increase hiring.

Which of course, as we have all seen over the years, is pure hogwash.

We have a Republican right wing that does not want government to work and they are willing to use any means necessary to overturn elections or to otherwise get their way.

Trumpublicans are willing to commit sedition against the United States because they lost an election, fair and square. The courts have said so. But their leader, Donald J. Trump, is a disrupter and is behaving as he always has: Screw the law! He wants what isn't his to have, and he'll try to get it by any means. He's done that all his malignant life.

I agree with those who've said that although some things may get better, we are living in a time when one of our two major parties is attempting to normalize the erosion of fundamental principles of democracy. [See Josh Hawley, (R-MO).]

Josh Hawley is American democracy's worst nightmar: Stanford and Yale educated, extremely bright and ambitious, and totally unprincipled and willing to undermine our democracy in furtherance of his will to power.

"McConnell called Hawley out over objecting to Electoral College vote during conference call Hawley wasn't on

McConnell privately warned Republicans weeks ago that going down the path of objecting would put colleagues in the position of having to vote against President Donald Trump, or against the clear winner of the election with no basis for doing so. Given Trump's pull with the party, it would create an untenable position, particularly for those GOP senators soon to face reelection.

There have been no credible allegations of any issues with voting that would have impacted the election, as affirmed by dozens of judges, governors, and election officials, the Electoral College, the Justice Department, the Department of Homeland Security, and the US Supreme Court."

yet trump, supported by his mesmerized sheeple, will continue the lies and conspiracy garbage at least until 2024. The rethuglican cult of trump is, without a doubt, the worst threat to our democratic republic since the Civil War.

Rev, You do have some good points. Why not send the 2,000 checks to everyone and cancel student loans. It won't affect me or probably you because my grandkids will have to pay for it. A politicians answer to everything, just push it down the road and not worry about it.
Can you imagine a politician who worked for the taxpayer. He wouldn't make it to re-election.
Why would you favor sending $2,000 checks to everyone and not increase unemployment benefits. Why not create jobs no matter what they are. Is it because people should not be forced to work to earn a living.

Les Carpenter said...

skud, I do believe you've OD'ed on the rethuglican kool-aide. In fact I'd bet on it.

Skud...

Man, did you read what I wrote? Where did I say send a 2K check to everyone? I'll save you the time... no where. We could easily means test this and make sure the $$$ gets into the hands of those who most need it. Same with student loans.

Now, since you are basically a conservative, explain the conservative case to me for tax cuts.

Here's a starting point, one shared by many of your cohort, but perfectly summed up by the Capitan of the Mother Ship...

"I am so tired of hearing Leftists CONSTANTLY saying how Trump’s tax cuts were for the rich and corporations and how the middle class and poor lost... isn’t it BETTER for everyone to have less tax cuts and less regulations, so corporations can hire more, trickle down DOES happen…… the rich are rich and they employ, they manufacture, they hire, they keep the economy GOING; The poor don’t keep it going in that way; sure, they sweep the streets and empty the trash and all but they do NOT help financially."

You see, your arguments and conservative arguments against spending $$$ to give a 2K stimulus check or forgive student loans always ask how are we going to pay for it? But you see, you guys never ask that about your cherished tax cuts for the "job creators", choosing to believe that as those tax cuts "trickle down" the street sweepers and trash haulers will get raises and benefit.

But since the Reagan Admin, when we started that thinking, evidence shows it does not work. Deficits grow and then conservatives use those growing deficits to cut spending on social programs to balance the budget problems their tax cuts caused.

All I'm saying is this... since we seem to accept that we will spend us into generations of debt, let's help the regular joe, the guy on Main Street, the "street sweepers" and those who "empty the trash." Who knows, it might produce enough economic activity to pay for itself. Just like those tax are always said to do.

Raise taxes when the economy is expanding, when we have full emplyment (4%-5% unemployment), folks are working overtime etc. and cut taxes during economic downturn and stagnation. But since EVERBODY is now a Keynesian the notion of maintaining a sustainable national debt and controlling and balancing the annual budget is now considered a quaint but antiquated economic practice. BTW, the republican party is the MOST responsible for our disasterous fiscal state of affairs.

skudrunner said...

Rev, Not to create an argument but to say I am basically a conservative is misleading. I am not a democrat or republican, I am a fiscal conservative and neither party is close to being that. I am not concerned what people do as long as they are not harming others. Our hypocritical political elite should manage the country not manage peoples lives.

With our bloated bureaucracy Easy means testing is an impossibility. What would be the benchmark, last reported income which is 2019. Since china sent us a gift in 2020 which caused the economy to fail there is a big discrepancy in income. If you lost your job or had a significant loss of income increasing unemployment benefits would be a better idea. That and how many programs can the federalists manage efficiently, they can't even manage giving life saving shots. Their answer to everything is not find an answer just throw money at it.

Your other question was easy. Every income earner deserves to keep more of what they earn. Corporations pass through taxes so if you raise taxes you raise costs on everyone. How well does the regressive tax system work. You work hard and are successful so you should give a bigger portion of that away. Whatever happened to everyone needs to pay their fair and how is it fair for someone who earns 250K a year to give 30% away while someone who makes $70k pays less as a percentage. The truly rich have so many loopholes that they can end up paying nothing and our elected elite are not going to attack their money pit.
