General John Kelly: "He said that, in his opinion, Mr. Trump met the definition of a fascist, would govern like a dictator if allowed, and had no understanding of the Constitution or the concept of rule of law."
And those founders never built that evangelical theocracy.
Evangelicalism, as most here know it, didn't even exist in the time of our Founders. What mostly existed was a form of deism as the concept of a "personal relationship" with Jesus, never mentioned in the Bible and a defining concept of today's evangelicalism, did not exist then.
It wasn't until the mid 19th century and the advent of dispensationalism, and the work of Dwight Moody and RA Torrey that we saw the first whispers of today's evangelicalism.
As such, anyone claiming a founding faith of our early leaders resembling what we see in churches today will be hard pressed to back up that claim with real evidence.
I'm gonna guess most today don't care about the truth. Any more than the Church did when its hierarchy decided to nix the Gnostic Gospels. Very likely the true words of Christ.
