WSJ Admits Trump “needs therapy" and may be "flirting with cognitive decline."

"[Holman W. Jenkins, Jr.,] who has written for the conservative paper for 34 years, noted that Congress made it illegal for the U.S. to issue a “threat or use of force against the territorial integrity” of a nonoffending member of the United Nations, which Greenland’s protectorate, Denmark, is.

“This isn’t international law, MAGA types, it’s U.S. law,” writes Jenkins. “A Trump order to occupy an otherwise peaceful and unthreatened Greenland would likely be illegal six ways from Sunday. The U.S. military wouldn’t obey it. The Supreme Court would enjoin it.”

Jenkins added that Trump using force to seize Greenland will likely lead to a third impeachment. "--The Daily Beast

From Occupy Democrats:

"Prominent right-wing newspaper finally admits that Trump 'needs therapy' and is 'throwing his presidency away' over Greenland.

When even Rupert Murdoch’s Wall Street Journal starts whispering that Donald Trump might be “flirting with cognitive decline,” you know the Trump circus has gone from tragic to dangerous. For months, the president has been hell-bent on seizing Greenland — confusing diplomacy with real estate, and sovereign nations with beachfront condos.

But this week, conservative editorial board member Holman W. Jenkins Jr. finally said the quiet part out loud: Trump “needs therapy more than the United States needs to own the island.”

“Mr. Trump’s preoccupation with owning Greenland, like his Nobel Prize obsession, would be best addressed elsewhere: in therapy,” Jenkins continued. “I’m perfectly serious. Once he started unburdening himself of his insecurities and traumas, he probably wouldn’t stop for a week. The world, and the U.S., would be better for it.”

Ouch.

But Jenkins didn’t stop there. He reminded MAGA diehards that you can’t just invade a NATO ally to settle a midlife crisis — Congress literally made it illegal. “This isn’t international law, MAGA types, it’s U.S. law,” he wrote, laying out how the military and Supreme Court would shut Trump down “six ways from Sunday” if he tried it. Oh, and it would likely trigger a third impeachment.

Meanwhile, Trump staggered into Davos like a “bear dragged from hibernation,” huffing, wobbling, and repeatedly calling Greenland ‘Iceland,’ and vice-versa — an international humiliation so cringe that even Fox News had to look away. At one point, the president claimed Iceland “called him Daddy.” Unsurprisingly, both Iceland and Greenland deny using any such term of endearment.

And here’s the kicker: the people Trump wants to “take over” want nothing to do with him. Polls show over 85% of Greenland opposes U.S. annexation, and Fox News’ own “Trump fan” from Nuuk turned out to be a serial criminal — because that’s what it takes to find a pro-Trump interview subject up there.

For over a year, the president has displayed bruised hands, swollen ankles, and a growing habit of dozing off during high-stakes meetings. His rambling, incoherent press conferences have become so alarming that even conservative media can’t pretend anymore. Murdoch’s empire isn’t exactly filled with Resistance liberals — so if they are sounding worried, buckle up.

The story isn’t just that Trump is losing it. It’s that Republicans, billionaires, and right-wing media have known for ages — and stayed silent as he tanks markets, shreds alliances, and threatens to start a war over an island that wants nothing to do with him.

But now the spell is breaking. And the question practically writes itself: If even Rupert Murdoch’s media can see the decline… what’s the Republican Party’s excuse?"

Where’s the win? Trump walked back all his threats. There will be no military takeover by America in Greenland. There will be no tariffs on the European countries that would not support his illegal invasion of a NATO country.

Trump is nothing more than bluster, threats, and lies. A paper tiger. TACO. Trump is…

“…but a walking shadow, a poor player,
That struts and frets his hour upon the stage,
And then is heard no more. His is a tale
Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury,
Signifying nothing.”

Your recent snarky comments add nothing to the discussion. Obviously you’re not able to address the subject of this post. Instead, you make it about me and my reaction to Trump.

All the more reason to have age limits for all politicians and term limits for congress. States have them, why no have them for federalists.
The last two presidents are perfect examples of how people decline with age. We allow senile old guys to determine what is best for the country, insane.

Our democracy was never in danger nor did the world laugh at us when former President Biden was in the Oval Office.

Today, Trump made an ass of himself in front of the world.

The definition of a true "babbling idiot:"

TRUMP: "Without us, right now you'd all be speaking German and a little Japanese perhaps. After the war, we gave Greenland back to Denmark. How stupid were we to do that? But we did it. But how ungrateful are they now?"

Trump was speaking in Davos, Switzerland, where the German language is spoken by approximately 60 to 65% of the population.

The US NEVER OWNED Denmark. Ever. There was no "giving it back."

Trump is the most uneducated bloviator and bullsh*tter this country has ever had the misfortune to put in the WH.

Trump is epically dumb. But he calls himself a "stable genius." LOL!

Trump has been in cognitive decline for years. His decline is now straddling his pervasive ignorance and his advancing dementia.

The decline is catastrophic, given the starting point.

Claiming that Trump needs "therapy" is simply proof that Trump is WINNING. They can't refute his arguments by making arguments against America's strategic interests in Greenland, so they make their arguments about him.

"Don't listen to Trump, he need therapy!"

No, America needs greater access to Greenland for Golden Dome.

Well Skud... A Dem, Rahm Emmanuel, has proposed exactly what I have proposed, contrary to term limits, a top age. He went with 75 years old. I would prefer 70, but I can live with 75.

Also, it's a widely known secret that Emmanuel will be running for president in 2028, so this could be an issue on the radar.

in the end Shaw, the deal Mr "Art of the Deal" Trump got exactly... wait for it... nothing. He got what we already had. And he removed his beloved tariffs. And again, he got nothing.

Trump caved. When he was asked point blank if we got the "full and complete ownership" of Greenland he said we needed, he admitted we did not. But we got the "concepts of a deal".

Just like the GOP has a "concept of a health care plan".

Which translated means, NOTHING.

What a bunch of clowns. And his ppl will eat it up.

Well -FJ... Trump won... He blathered, he blustered and in the end he got exactly nothing. No deal. No US sovereignty. No "complete and total control". Nothing that is not already in the 1951 agreement.

What a waste of American bandwidth and a rupture in US/European relations.

Breathtakingly weak, stupid and uncalled for. At least based on the results Trump himself admitted.

-FJ, you gave us an epic example of 1984 DOUBLESPEAK. When people who actually understand what a walking disaster Trump is (the poor man is probably suffering from frontotemporal dementia, which "...shrinks brain areas, causing symptoms like social inappropriateness, apathy, loss of empathy, compulsive actions, and trouble communicating or understanding words..."

This is crystal clear to all who are NOT members of the MAGA cult. You have been wrong on so many issues that I try not to seriously respond to your comments, because IMO your comments are not grounded in reality, but in conspiracies, fantasies, and a devotion to a mad man.

The US ALREADY has all the access it needs to Greenland, a NATO member, and a Danish territory that has agreed to whatever expansion the US has wanted for security.

You know that, and so does the world. The only one who doesn't is the US president who is in the throes of a brain disease, which the entire world saw in real time on the stage at Davos.

PS. What Dave M. stated is the truth. Trump got nothing. NOTHING. He withdrew his tariff threats when he saw what happened to the world markets, and he took back his threats of military intervention to take Greenland when he was probably told by the sane people in his administration that would be ILLEGAL. Again, this poor suffering soul showed his weaknesses and confusion to the world. He's a paper tiger, a TACO, and most of all a criminal.

All he got, by his own words, is a "framework for a future deal." Just like his "concepts of a health plan," -- NOTHING.

Trump got everything he asked for in Greenland. prove me wrong.

Golden Dome is on!

The only unanswered question is, how much of a "sovereign" anti-invasion deterrent does Greenland need?

Trump got everything he asked for in Greenland. prove me wrong."

FROM THE BBC:

"Citing anonymous officials, the New York Times said one idea entailed Denmark ceding sovereignty over small areas of Greenland where the US would build military bases.

This arrangement would be similar to the status of two such bases in Cyprus, which have been under UK sovereignty since Cyprus became independent in 1960.

It is not clear how that model would apply if both Denmark and Greenland reject relinquishing sovereignty."

Trump got an "idea" -- a "framework for an idea," as stated above.

Did he get ownership of Greenland, as he claimed he would? NO!

Have Denmark and Greenland given up their sovereignty? NO!

Trump wanted Greenland.

Did he get it?

NO!

He got something BETTER than Greenland. He got Golden Dome. Nobody gives a sh*t about Greenland.

We'll see, we'll see. Trump has failed at following through with so many brags. His record stinks on accomplishments, except at having his ICE thugs brutalize children and kill unarmed women.

Interesting boasts from your MAGA trolls.

Here's what the world think of them:

Like schoolyard bullies, they’re most desperate for respect from the people they pretend to have contempt for. They playact superiority to camouflage their insecurity. They can blather all they like about the rationale for insisting on the acquisition of Greenland, but what’s really driving Trump is his compulsion to prove to the world just how big and bold he is. Which, of course, shows how small and sad he is.
