Notice that when the whispers became public and credible against Eric Swalwell, he resigned and quietly left his public service job. No fuss, no muss.
That's what we expect of Democrats. We know there are accusations and rumors against politicians, indeed many people, all the time. But when they break into the open and become credible, honorable people resign and face consequences. And then honorable supporters of those people demand the same of them.
Why is this so hard for many in America to get and understand?
I'm sorry folks, but as Americans have said for generations... where there's smoke, there's fire. Nixon was a creep for years, targeting political enemies and more. But when he led and directed a cover up of a crime, for political purposes and gain, he had to resign.
Gary Hart, but for a photo, would've been POTUS back in the day. Clinton should've resigned for sullying the office of the presidency. And every Republican and conservative in the before times, would have agreed with me.
Now? Not so much.
Look, here's a thought experiment.
Every single person running for Congress should be asked the following before the midterms... Eric Swalwell resigned his position in Congress in disgrace due to a series of very credible allegations of sexual harassment.
Do you believe people who have been credibly accused or convicted of such crimes, should be serving in the highest offices of the US government?
Nixon, again, while a creep, did the right thing. But only after a member of his own party let him know the truth. Swalwell did the right thing too.
Don't give up. Accountability will come in the form of USA governments (federal and states) confiscating ALL ill-gotten gains from the FAMILY, associates, and enablers via RICO prosecutions. This is a possibility as long as We The People insist the governments act in accordance with the laws.
Acceptance of criminality in the tribe of MAGA is the standard. Lying, cheating, and grifting has been normalized. As long as it serves the interests of the wealthy and the fascist christian nationalists it's fair game...
The corrupt scotus guts the Voting Rights Act in anticipation it will insure continuation of fascist conservative tyranny well into the future.
The only way things will change towards a truly representative democracy is to blow the entire corrupt system up abd start over again.
Les... I've had more than a few conversations with MAGA people over time, including a few yesterday. Here's what I've heard...
A complete and utter rejection of any wrong doing on the part of POTUS Trump. They'll say he's not a nice person, is egotistical and even immoral, but not accept any court of law ruling, any negative opinion or any assertion that Trump has done wrong.
Here's how it plays out.
Trump they say, has been hounded unmercifully by the media, treated badly and hated by everyone suffering from TDS. When people are confronted with reports, facts, evidence, etc., those claims are just brushed off. Because they've "never seen them".
Claims of Trump's bankruptcies? They're not aware of them, so they never happened. His incompetence in Iran? He knows stuff we don't know. Iran's nuclear program? He's keeping us safer. The economic numbers are bad? Not really, and in any event, it's worth it to kill the Mullahs of Iran. His lies? You must have misread his words.
How can you make headway with this crowd?
And now today, Louisiana is canceling their primary so they can redraw their districts to eliminate all minority voting representation in that state. And Mississippi, TN and KY have all signaled they will do the same.
In this one SCOTUS decision, the Dems know they just lost the mid terms, any chance of hearings on the Trump Admin and any chance to block SCOTUS nominations until after the 2028 elections and more.
I've tried to remain positive over the years, never comparing our POTUS to past despots, but critical of people who support him through voting for Trump enabling GOP sycophants like Mike Johnson. Sadly, it seems as if the negative leaning folks are right.
I get it Dave, it wasn't until GWB that I finally begin to see the hypocrisy and propaganda that the now trumpublican party, formerly republican party, has always engaged in.
As it turned out for me President Obama, who I was skeptical about originally, further disolved most of the conditioning and reified beliefs I had once accepted as gospel.
So yeah, I get that it can be hard, indeed very hard for some, to break through the self generated identities people create for themselves in their own minds.
There is no way to break through the self identified, yet unsubstantiated truths that MAGA has created for themselves. Ultimately, when they are personally negatively affected by the very policies they once wholeheartedly supported, they will realize their error in judgement. By them millions will have increased suffering as a result of the malignant narcissist and pathological liar they support.
If I ever hated anyone it would the shell of a human being now occupying the darkened White House.

Teflon don will escape accountability for his crimes. Thanks to the now CORRUPT scotus.
