There have been 204 mass shootings — and 204 days — in 2015 so far

These beautiful women were among the victims of the latest mass shooting in Lafayette, Louisiana -- victims of a white male, white supremacist who, according to reports, was a Tea Party follower: 

Does that make all Tea Party followers or white males mass murderers?  Well for some right wingers, it does because those same people believe ALL Muslims are mass murderers when a Muslim shoots and kills people.  Some who believe that also believe all Muslims are potential terrorists and should be deported--even American Muslims (where do Americans get deported to?) 

So should we apply the same logic to white males?  Just last month a white male slaughtered 9 people in a church. Should all white males be suspected as terrorists, because they are responsible for an awful lot of these mass shootings:

The Mass Shooting Tracker is different from other shooting databases in that it uses a broader definition of mass shooting. "The old FBI definition of Mass Murder (not even the most recent one) is four or more people murdered in one event," the site's creators explain.

The Charleston shooting did produce a fruitful national conversation -- not on guns, but on the symbolism of the Confederate flag, which the shooter adopted as a banner of his racist beliefs. It took 150 years and a national tragedy for the country to reach something like a consensus on the meaning of a battle flag.

Someone very dear to me is in the Navy, so this story interested me.

The Navy, understands that a fit military is a good thing for America, and it is being pro-active in making sure that one way our service men and women achieve fitness is by eating well.


"Navy Secretary Ray Mabus announced a host of sweeping changes in May that will affect everything from promotions and training to uniforms and fitness. As part of that, he has set his sights on a well-balanced diet, which he calls “the foundation of a healthy lifestyle” that will provide capable warfighters and lower medical costs. 

 Mabus touted the SEALs’ “Fuel to Fight” program as an example. It increases the availability of lean-proteins, vegetables, and complex carbohydrates to fuel, rather than feed, the warfighter."



However, because somewhere during the reporting of this story, Michelle Obama's name came up, the hysterical low-information Derps, aka Goopers, immediately and without any facts, criticized the FLOTUS for interfering with how the Navy feeds its men and women.

This poutrage from the right isn't new, they've been slandering the FLOTUS and the POTUS since January 20, 2009. But now, they're calling for the assassination of Mrs. Obama and her family over nothing more than a rumor they heard, which they immediately connected to Mrs. Obama.

U.S. and Cuba Re-establish Diplomatic Relations

Havana, Cuba (CNN)  One bitter holdover of the Cold War will slip into the history books at 12:01 a.m. Monday, when the United States and Cuba re-establish diplomatic relations. For the first time since severing ties in 1961, they'll reopen embassies in each other's capitals. 

 Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla will travel to the Cuban Embassy in Washington to raise his country's flag, an event that Cuban government officials said will be broadcast live on the island's state-run TV. 

 A Cuban delegation of diplomats, artists and veterans of the revolution will then commemorate the breakthrough with about 500 guests and more than likely down a few celebratory mojitos and shots of Havana Club rum.

Why continue to report on Trump?  Because right now he represents the Republican Party and who they admire.  The more outrageous he is, the more support he gains from the political party that wants to win the White House in the next presidential election.  

Look carefully at who they're supporting for that job: A guy who bragged that he'd build a wall on our border and make Mexico pay for it, and who said he'd bomb the oil fields of Iraq as a way of defeating ISIS.

Four Marines, gunman dead in Tenn. attack

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — A gunman unleashed a barrage of fire at a recruiting center and another US military site a few miles apart in Chattanooga on Thursday, killing at least four Marines, officials said. The attacker was also killed. US Attorney Bill Killian said officials were investigating the possibility it was ‘‘domestic terrorism.’’ FBI agent Ed Reinhold said authorities were still trying to establish a motive.

Texas has refused to issue birth certificates to children born in America to undocumented immigrants over the last year, The Texas Observer reports, and several of parents have taken the state to court. 

“I’ve never seen such a large number of women with this problem,” said a Texas RioGrande Legal Aide lawyer. “They are locking out a huge chunk of the undocumented immigrant community.” 

Despite Texas law allowing parents to use foreign IDs for identification, hospitals run by the Texas Department of State Health Services have told parents that their foreign IDs—or passports without current U.S. visas—are no longer acceptable.
