Virulently and Murderously Homophobic
A reader of this blog brought this statement, found on a rabid right wing blog, to my attention yesterday:
"Islam is virulently and murderously homophobic..."
Islam isn't the only religion that is virulently and murderously homophobic. The blogger who wrote that characterization about Islam chooses to ignore the fact that some fundamentalist Christians, like some Muslims, call for the murder and deaths of homosexuals.
The fundamentalists of the world's two major religions are very much alike in their hatred of gay people and in calling for their death:
,
Here is the evidence:
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — A Sacramento Baptist preacher’s sermon praising attack on an Orlando nightclub that killed 50 people has the local LGBT community outraged.
Recordings of the sermon by Pastor Roger Jimenez surfaced under the Verity Baptist Church’s YouTube account.
“Are you sad that 50 pedophiles were killed today?” he said in the sermon. “Um no, I think that’s great! I think that helps society. I think Orlando, Florida is a little safer tonight.”
The remarks were delivered on Sunday morning, hours after the attack happened.
This Christian pastor wants to exterminate gays for an ‘Aids-free Christmas’
An American pastor has called for the mass extermination of all homosexuals and transgender people to bring about an ‘Aids-free Christmas’. Steven Anderson, who preaches in Tempe, Arizona, gave the sermon to a packed congregation at the Faithful Word Baptist Church on Sunday, with the video later uploaded to YouTube.
'Kill the Gays' Preacher Kevin Swanson: God's on His Side
Pastor Kevin Swanson is taking a victory lap after his headline-making National Religious Liberties Conference in Iowa earlier this month. After hosting Republican presidential candidates Ted Cruz, Mike Huckabee, and Bobby Jindal (who since left the race), the Colorado preacher who calls for gays who don’t repent to be sentenced to death went on radio to reflect on the “media firestorm” he created.
James Dobson: Kill Transgender People Using Public Bathrooms
Evangelist James Dobson says transgender people using public bathrooms should be shot. In an anti-Obama rant the Focus on the Family founder said that transgender people using public restrooms should be shot.
Rev. Franklin Graham: Gay Christians are ‘The Enemy’
“We have allowed the enemy to come into our churches. I was talking to some Christians and they were talking about how they invited these gay children to come into their home and to come into the church and that they were wanting to influence them.”
Tennessee Pastor Robert Gallaty Suggests Gays ‘Must Be Put To Death’ Or Remain Celibate
A conservative Tennessee pastor is making headlines after footage of a sermon in which he implied that lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people should be put to death surfaced online. As Raw Story originally reported, Brainerd Baptist Church Senior Pastor Robby Gallaty justified Christian opposition to the LGBT community in his hour-long sermon, which was broadcast on Aug. 31.
“God said that the sins of the people had infected the very land in which they live,” Gallaty says in the clip. “So what happens to people who engage in this activity, this sexual immoral activity? Go to Leviticus 20, God gives us the punishment for engaging in these sins… They must be put to death. And their blood is on their own hands.’”
Not content to spread their virulent, murderous homophobia in America, the fundamentalist Christian right exports its death culture on the LGBT community to African countries:
US Christian Right Behind Anti-Gay Law Passed in Uganda
On Monday, Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni signed into law a bill which toughens penalties against gays and defines some homosexual acts as crimes punishable by life in prison. The bill also proposed years in prison for anyone who counsels or reaches out to gays and lesbians.
I could link to more and more evidence, Google has hundreds of them.
Those statements by Christian fundamentalists calling for the murders and deaths of members of the LGBT community are no different from the fundamentalist Muslims who do the same.

This is Freedom. This is Love. This is Reality.
There is nothing wrong with two people expressing affection for each other.
These photos represent what homophobic religionists fear and hate:
Two people loving each other.
Donald Trump bragged today about what a GREAT FRIEND HE IS to the LGBT community! How he loves them and respects them and how Hillary does not:
Donald Trump: 'Trust Me' To Overturn The 'Shocking' Gay Marriage Decision
In an interview with Pat Robertson’s television network yesterday, Donald Trump insisted that anti-gay conservatives can rest assured knowing that he is committed to overturning the Supreme Court’s landmark decision striking down state bans on same-sex marriage.
When the Christian Broadcasting Network’s David Brody asked the GOP presidential frontrunner what he thought of the Log Cabin Republicans calling him “one of the best, if not the best, pro-gay Republican candidates to ever run for the presidency,” Trump said he hadn’t heard the remarks and criticized the “shocking” and “massive” Obergefell ruling.

HORROR IN ORLANDO!
UPDATE BELOW
The shooter has been identified as an American citizen of Afghan heritage who was strongly anti-gay, according to the father of the killer, as reported on CBS news.
It is too early to determine whether this was a jihadist terror crime or anti-gay or both.

Trump U FU!
From the continuing series of "Don the Con."
This stuff is fun, but it's also important. Now is the time to clearly establish that his "business success" is actually an elaborate con game. He's bilked thousands and thousands of people out of their hard earned cash and their labor without giving any value in return.
Let Trump Be Fake Trump On A Teleprompter!
The majority leader of the US Senate has suggested that The Trumpster use a teleprompter when delivering his harangues against racial minorities and women and POWs and disabled Americans and Muslims and Latinos and Hispanics and "the blacks"...and...have I left anyone out?
McConnell and other Republicans don't like hearing what Donnie really believes in his heart of darkness, and they don't want the voting public to hear it either. The solution to this is to get Donnie on script and on a teleprompter -- something Donnie has mocked Democratic politicians, including the POTUS, for doing. Donnie has told the GOP that his supporters love his attacks on minorities, and they love his inability to say anything coherent on domestic and foreign policies.
What his supporters lap up is Donnie's brilliant answer to any questioning on how he will build that wall and make Mexico pay for it: "I'M GONNA BE GREAT!"
They love his answer to the question on how he will deport 11 million undocumented people: "I'M GONNA BE GREAT!"
They love his answer when asked how he's going to be great: "YOU'RE GONNA BE SO TIRED OF SEEING ME BEING GREAT! IT'LL BE TREMENDOUS, BELIEVE ME!"
So get used to seeing Donnie on the despised teleprompter, mouthing words written by other people, because the leaders of the GOP actually believe that will erase all the evidence of Donnie's past demagoguery, harangues, and racism.

With Liberty and Unequal Justice for Non-White, Non-Rich and Privileged Rapists
As long as this sort of disparity in meting out justice exists, how can we recite the end of the Pledge of Allegiance with a straight face?
Brock Turner and Cory Batey, two college athletes who raped unconscious women, show how race and privilege affect sentencing in felony crimes.
| Cory Batey |
"When Cory Batey was a 19-year-old standout football player at Vanderbilt, he raped an unconscious woman. The ample evidence, including security cameras showing the unconscious woman being carried into a dorm room and cellphone photos and videos of the sexual assault, was clear — Cory Batey sexually assaulted the woman. In April, a jury found Batey guilty of three felony counts including aggravated rape and two counts of aggravated sexual battery. He was immediately remanded into custody and must serve a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 to 25 years in prison.
What Batey did was reprehensible. The judge and jury treated his crime as such.
Turner was given a six-month jail sentence and told he could be released on good behavior in as little as three months.
Former Vanderbilt football player Cory Batey must serve a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 to 25 years in prison for raping an unconscious woman."
![]() |
| Brock Turner |
"Brock Turner will serve six months in jail for the same crime.
That's what makes the case of Brock Turner, a 19-year-old standout swimmer at Stanford who raped an unconscious woman, all the more infuriating. As was the case with Batey, ample evidence existed that Turner was guilty. Eyewitnesses actually caught him in the act as he sexually assaulted an unconscious woman behind a dumpster.
A jury agreed and Turner was found guilty of multiple felony rape charges. Turner, though, was given a six-month jail sentence and told he could be released on good behavior in as little as three months.
He won't even go to an actual prison, but will remain in the local jail during that time.
One man will spend the entire prime of his life in prison for his crime — the other will be out of jail before the summer heat disappears."
To make this rotten disparity of justice even more outrageous is Turner's father's whining about the consequences his privileged son faces. In addition to referring to his son's rape as "20 minutes of action," Brock's father complained that his son is depressed, has no joy in his life, and can't even enjoy eating a nice juicy steak anymore.
Yes. Brock's father said that, without a mention of how his son's felony rape has affected his victim.
Lots of young college students get drunk; they don't all rape unconscious women.
Here's the rape victim's powerful letter to her rapist.

No Mention of Trump on RNC Website. Who's surprised?
Amazing -- well, not really.
A reader at TPM went to the GOP official website and noticed that the presumptive Republican nominee, Donald J. Trump, is missing from their webpage!
No photo of him there!
But plenty of mentions and even photos of Hillary.
Trump's own party is avoiding him like poison.
Who's surprised?
Here's Josh Marshall writing about this:
"If you go to the Republican National Committee website, there is a crowded homepage with no mention of Donald Trump. I’ve been watching it for a few days. They recently had a petition asking people to sign if they want to “Take Back The White House.”
Even in the body of that petition, there was no mention of Trump. Judging from their website, the RNC is acting as if Clinton is running unopposed. This is particularly amazing because the Trump campaign, or rather “campaign” is relying on the RNC to do the things campaigns usually do themselves, to essentially be their campaign structure.
The fact that the Republican leadership, or rather “leadership,” is supporting Trump has gotten a lot of attention; the funny part is that they think they can also pretend it isn’t happening."

Hillary is the Presumptive Nominee for the Democrats
The Democratic Party for the second time in 8 years has made history with its presumptive nominee.
Congratulations to Secretary Clinton.
And congratulations to Bernie Sanders for his historic candidacy as well.
Now it's time for Hillary to heal the wounds from the long and often contentious primary battle and go on to defeat the Republican Party's racist and temperamentally unfit nominee, Donald J. Trump.
Reuters:
Clinton also harshly attacked Donald Trump, 69, her presumptive Republican rival in the Nov. 8 presidential election, for using divisive rhetoric that belittled women, Muslims and immigrants.
She took specific aim at his condemnation of an Indiana-born judge of Mexican heritage. "The stakes in this election are high and the choice is clear. Donald Trump is temperamentally unfit to be president and commander-in-chief," Clinton said.
"When Donald Trump says a distinguished judge born in Indiana can’t do his job because of his Mexican heritage, or he mocks a reporter with disabilities, or calls women pigs, it goes against everything we stand for," she said.
A Reuters/Ipsos poll released on Tuesday showed Clinton leading Trump by 10 percentage points nationally as they launch their general election battle, little changed from a week earlier.

NO DOUBT ABOUT IT, TRUMP IS A RACIST
NO DOUBT ABOUT IT, TRUMP IS A RACIST.
Trump has doubled down on his accusations against an American judge of Mexican heritage, insisting that Judge Curiel could not give Trump a fair hearing nor could an American judge of Muslim heritage nor a female judge.
(No one has asked Trump if an American judge of German or Scottish heritage could be impartial.)
Trump doesn't sound like a presidential candidate, he sounds like a menacing capo di capi from a mafia organization.
Lindsey Graham, who said Trump was the least qualified candidate to ever seek the GOP nomination (and who later endorsed this unqualified candidate), has now reversed himself again and said this:
Good for Senator Graham for acknowledging and saying what normal people have known for a year. TRUMP IS AN UNAPOLOGETIC RACIST.
Those T-GOPers still supporting Trump after his unending bigoted comments hate Hillary more than they love their country. Check out any far right blog and read their pathetic excuses for supporting Trump, a narcissistic buffoon whom they wouldn't go near if he didn't have a fake "R" after his gilded name.
From the HuffPost on the latest revelations on Trump's thuggish behavior:
A clearly irritated Trump told his supporters to attack journalists who ask questions about the lawsuit and his comments about the judge. “The people asking the questions—those are the racists,” Trump said. “I would go at ’em.”
In a call with surrogates, presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump showed signs that he is not well by overruling his campaign, and calling all journalists who ask about his comments about the Trump U judge racists.
'
Bloomberg reported on Trump’s call with his surrogates: “We will overcome,” Trump said, according to two supporters who were on the call and requested anonymity to share their notes with Bloomberg Politics.
“And I’ve always won and I’m going to continue to win. And that’s the way it is.” ….
When former Arizona Governor Jan Brewer interrupted the discussion to inform Trump that his own campaign had asked surrogates to stop talking about the lawsuit in an e-mail on Sunday, Trump repeatedly demanded to know who sent the memo, and immediately overruled his staff. “Take that order and throw it the hell out,” Trump said. ….

Lindsey Graham, who said Trump was the least qualified candidate to ever seek the GOP nomination (and who later endorsed this unqualified candidate), has now reversed himself again and said this:
Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, another former primary rival of Mr. Trump’s, urged Republicans who have backed Mr. Trump to rescind their endorsements, citing the remarks about Judge Curiel and Mr. Trump’s expression of doubt on Sunday that a Muslim judge could remain neutral in the same lawsuit, given Mr. Trump’s proposed ban on Muslim noncitizens entering the country.
“This is the most un-American thing from a politician since Joe McCarthy,” Mr. Graham said. “If anybody was looking for an off-ramp, this is probably it,” he added. “There’ll come a time when the love of country will trump hatred of Hillary.”

R.I.P. Muhammad Ali
He chose his beliefs over his boxing career.
Moral Courage
Pm Carpenter on Muhammad Ali:
He was so much more than boxing's "Greatest"; he defined and moreover impelled the domestic turbulence of the Vietnam and civil rights era. He was, as well, a bundle of paradoxes: a gentle man in the most brutal of sports, a semiliterate who out-imagined the best and the brightest, a victim of racially structural rot who refused to be victimized.
Muhammad Ali on why he refused to fight in Vietnam:
"My conscience won't let me go shoot my brother, or some darker people, or some poor hungry people in the mud for big powerful America. And shoot them for what? They never called me nigger, they never lynched me, they didn't put no dogs on me, they didn't rob me of my nationality, rape and kill my mother and father... Shoot them for what? How can I shoot them poor people? Just take me to jail." -Muhammad Ali

TRUMP: Dangerously incoherent and unprepared

LIKE A TIN-POT DICTATOR, DONALD TRUMP THREATENS FEDERAL JUDGE CURIEL:
"On Thursday, Donald Trump escalated his racist attacks on Gonzalo Curiel, the federal judge hearing one of the fraud cases against Trump University.
The presumptive Republican nominee had already called the judge a “Mexican” — the Latino jurist was born in Indiana — and floated the allegation that Curiel’s ethnicity biases him against Trump because of the candidate’s immigration stance.
Trump had threatened to use the power of the presidency against the judge, saying “we will come back in November” and people “ought to look into” the judge.
Then, in an interview with the Wall Street Journal on Thursday, Trump said Curiel’s “Mexican heritage” presented “an absolute conflict” in hearing a case against him." --Dana Milbank
You may hate Hillary and love Trump, but Trump looks more than a little nuts these days and HRC looks and sounds presidential.

Fool Them Once and the Wingnuts Will Let You Fool Them Again and Again and Again.
Making the rounds in the far right news sites and blogs is a fake news story.
The story was published by a satirical news site called "Christian Times," and it reports that Hillary Clinton blamed racism for the tragic incident in the Cincinnati Zoo with a little boy and a silver back gorilla.
It is a completely made up satire, but the goofballs spreading it all over the internet are too dense and too crazed with hate for Hillary to have bothered to research the veracity of the story before they repeated it and made titanic fools of themselves.
Who's surprised?
These same fools who swallowed that fake story are the same fools who swallow Donald Trump' lies and rants.
The article circulated on Facebook, where Clinton's critics took its claim at face value.
From a fact-checking site:
However, the Christian Times Newspaper (not to be confused with the legitimate publication The Christian Times) is a fake news site whose articles are appended with the following disclaimer:
Christian Times Newspaper is your premier online source for news, commentary, opinion, and theories. Christian Times Newspaper does not take responsibility for any of our readers' actions that may result from reading our stories. We make it abundantly aware the [sic] not all stories are necessarily grounded in fact.
We do our best to provide accurate, updated news and information.
Accordingly, it is simple to conclude that the comments attributed to Clinton about the gorilla's death are not "necessarily grounded in fact."
Other article headlines on the site are clearly designed to incite social media outrage-driven sharing, such as:
"BREAKING: Colorado GOP primary CANCELLED, Cruz awarded ALL delegates" and
"BREAKING: Black Trump supporter shot and killed by Chicago protesters."
Christian Times Newspaper is similar to the fake news site The End Times as a "satirical" effort aimed at politically conservative social media users.
I might also add that the majority who pass these stories around are gullible and not what one would describe as "critical thinkers." They read something on social media and take it a truth.
No wonder Trump has gone as far as he has. His followers never bother to check the truth of his statements, and they take as fact all the b.s. he feeds them.
By spreading this story around, Trump supporters again have shown that they are easily fooled by other fools.

TRUMP: "When you give, they do whatever the hell you want them to do."
"As a businessman and a very substantial donor to very important people, when you give, they do whatever the hell you want them to do," Trump said.
"As a businessman, I need that." He later elaborated during a Republican debate, "I was a businessman, I give to everybody. When they call, I give. And you know what? When I need something from them, two years later, three years later, I call them, and they are there for me."
Donald Trump called an ABC journalist a "sleaze" the other day. Well Trump certainly knows about sleaze:
From VOX:
State attorneys general who dropped Trump University fraud inquiries subsequently got Trump donations
"Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi briefly considered joining with Schneiderman in a multi-state suit against Trump University." But it ultimately didn't happen:
Three days after Bondi's spokeswoman was quoted in local media reports as saying the office was reviewing the New York lawsuit, the Donald J. Trump Foundation made a $25,000 contribution to a political fundraising committee supporting Bondi's re-election campaign. Bondi, a Republican, soon dropped her investigation, citing insufficient grounds to proceed.
Contribution or bribe? We report; you decide.
Full Definition of bribe
1 : money or favor given or promised in order to influence the judgment or conduct of a person in a position of trust
2 : something that serves to induce or influence
A must read, Conservative pundit, David Frum's "The Seven Broken Guardrails of Democracy."
"The American republic was long safeguarded by settled norms, now shattered by the rise of Donald Trump."

Wednesday is Trump Hump Day: "I'm angry! So I'm voting for Donald Trump!"
Andrew Klavan describes the typical Donald Trump supporter:
Tuesday, May 31, 2016
If Trump Keeps This Up...
the only people who'll be voting for him are the regular fanboys and girls of the Daddy blog and their 3 sock puppets:
Donald Trump, The Whiner:
The Media Has Had Enough Of Donald Trump As The First Amendment Strikes Back
At his press conference, Trump said, “I have to tell you. The press is so dishonest and so unfair.” Trump whined, “I sent people checks of a lot of money, and we’re going to give you the names right now, which is what you want, and instead of being like thank you very much, Mr. Trump or Trump, did a good job. Everyone’s saying who got it, who got it, and you make me look vert bad I have never received such bad publicity for doing such a good job, so I will give you the names if that’s what you want. ”
To recap: Trump said he raised $6 million for veterans. He didn't raise $6 million for veterans. He believes pointing this out is dishonest.
.@DanaBashCNN, @KateBolduan, and @JohnBerman, visibly exasperated, are doing a great job pushing back on this Trump lunacy right now.
Trump being Trump, still stunning how he embraces idea of attacking any pol who isn't w/him, It's not just bad politics, it's bad governing
When asked why he is angry about being asked questions about how much he raised for veterans, Trump replied:
"I think that it’s bothersome because I love the vets," Trump said, noting that he worked hard to raise money for veterans. "I think when the press portrays it differently, the press is being very dishonest, so I don’t like that. I don’t like dishonesty."
Said the man who has THE HIGHEST DISHONESTY RATING of all the candidates running for the presidential nomination -- even Hillary!
Trump lies even about disliking dishonesty!
Trump is the most disliked and the most dishonest candidate to ever run for the presidency, and he belongs to the Republican Party.
