HAPPY OBAMA DAY!

Uh, technically it's Inauguration day, not Obama day. They haven't given him a holiday quite yet.

Just thought I'd clear that up.

Well we know that, Patrick.

We're just having fun.

It's a pity you haven't caught the good feeling and upbeat atmosphere that has taken over Washington DC, the US, and the world.

I have a close friend attending the Inauguration today, and she's reporting on all the excitement via IM and Email all the activities--she and her family are attending one of the inaugural balls. She's staying at the same hotel where VP Bide is staying.

(I received an invitation to the Inaugural from the Obama Inaugural Committee myself, but made the choice to stay home and celebrate.)

I've heard from my family members across the US and how they and their friends will be celebrating today--home parties, but people actually standing near freeways, etc. waving American flags.

And then there are friends from Italy, France, Germany, Spain, etc. who have emailed and told us how happy they AND their fellow countrymen feel about this day.

The only place where I read snark, cynicsm and downright hostility and venom toward Mr. Obama for this day is on some far right blogs (not yours).

The tsunami of good feeling is on the side of the righteous and hopeful.

Please. Join in.

Sending you hugs and good wishes.

I've read this on several blogs so far today, actually.

I won't be doing anything for the inauguration. I suggested to Michael Moore that his theatre show the inauguration. He took the suggestion, and the tickets "sold out" within 2 hours of being offered. Otherwise, I might have gone to see it at the theatre.

Suuuuuuuuuuure you do. :)

As I type this, they're all waiting for the Obamas to leave Blair House.

I'm holding most of my snark and venom until tomorrow, or his inaugural address, whichever flips my dinger first.

dmarks,

You should have gotten some $$$ for that suggestion.

Patrick,

Here's another hug.

and one for dmarks:

I just have the satisfaction that a celebrity told me I had a good idea he had not thought of before, and he acted on it. It was an obvious thing, though, and I'm sure the idea came to others.

The theatre, after all, showed all of the major debates.

Is the second hug consolation for the death of America? :)

(Actually, that's a preview of what I'm thinking of posting tomorrow (with tongue firmly ensconced in cheek). Be afraid. Be very afraid.)

Day of the O! Happy day here, too.
