Breitbart's Posthumous FAIL!

I started several times to write a post on the video Andrew Breitbart promised would deliver evidence to start impeachment proceedings against President Obama, but I just didn't have any strong interest on his silly and weak attempt to once again smear and demonize Mr. Obama--even from the grave.

The video has earned a very large YAWN from the rational in this country, even if the GOP fringies are roiling in outrage over what was broadcast in 2008 by PBS.

YAWN.

For the record, the video shows Harvard Professor Derrick Bell and a young Harvard Law student, Barack Obama, at a rally when, after Mr. Obama speaks, he embraces Professor Bell.

YAWN.

But, interestingly, what is significant about this video is the fact that Breitbart, by promoting what had already been released and seen, destroys the rightwing-driven fiction that Mr. Obama did not necessarily matriculate at Harvard Law--a idiotic claim I've read on many an idiotic rightwing blog.

Breitbart's failure to smear from the grave gives the lie to the giddy nonsense the fringies so adore--that Mr. Obama never went to Harvard, or that no one remembers him from that time. Thank you Breitbart for proving to your conspiracy-crazed followers that, indeed, Mr. Obama did attend Harvard, and was elected head of the Harvard Law Review.

Other than that, Breitbart's secret-weapon video is about as interesting as watching Sarah Palin read her talking points from the palm of her hand.

I'll let fellow blogger, Jolly Roger, have the last word on this hilarious revelation, a revelation, BTW, that Breitbart's fans conspiratorialy agreed was the reason for Bretibart's "untimely" death.

Jolly Roger via Infidel753:

"But there’s nothing new about the clip or Obama’s role in the controversy at Harvard Law School. In 2008, as a part of our quadrennial election special The Choice 2008, FRONTLINE ran the same footage of the speech as a part of an exploration of Obama’s time at Harvard Law School, where he graduated in 1991. It’s been online at our site and on YouTube since then. FRONTLINE producers obtained the footage from the same source as BuzzFeed did this week: the archives of WGBH, Boston’s PBS station. The footage was shot in 1990 by a team of local news producers for the WGBH Ten O’Clock News.

FRONTLINE is produced at WGBH and our producers were alerted to the footage in the station archives in 2008. In light of today’s controversy, and Breitbart.com editors’ claims that the footage had been edited, we pulled the full archived tape. It includes not just Obama’s speech, but other footage from the rally and portions of Derrick Bell’s speech.

Take a minute to click the link, go over to the PBS site, and watch the footage in its entirety. And then you’ll see it for what it is.

In case you don’t want to be bothered with it, however, I’ll explain it to you. What you will see is something that could be contrived as some kind of radicalized hate speech by only one type of person-a hysterical racist. Breitbart was, of course, exactly that kind of a person, as are most of his worshipers. That he was going to offer THIS as his “bombshell” serves as a fitting epitaph to his lifetime of lies, racism, bigotry, and utter and complete hatred. Hate was the fuel that kept him going, and hate is more than likely what eventually burned through him. He leaves behind him a legacy of waste. He wasted his talents, he wasted his time, and he did everything he could to turn the political discourse into waste. When his history is written, it ain’t gonna be fun for his children to read of him."

I found myself yawning as well. As a conservative (-classical liberal) I found myself emgaged in a post on CRT.

I can't think of a better way to close out the career of Breitbart than this so-called video exposé. It's basically a sermon to the choir because I don't think any rational person believes this video clip is a big deal. Other than Hannity, is anyone else at Fox still running with this non-story? You made an excellent point that I hadn't thought of: Breitbart inadvertently put to rest the myth that President Obama didn't attend Harvard Law School.

RN, Is that all they got? They got nuthin'!

DB,

Thanks, I think.

Malcolm,

I laughed when I saw the video because it destroys one of the far right's paranoid talking points about Mr. Obama's college years.

"But it is becoming increasingly clear how he got in, and how he managed to stay without doing anything of consequence."

Clear, maybe, to racists, but not to the people who actually, y'know, knew Mr. Obama when he was at Harvard.

You've offered nothing more than your whiney-assed, evidence-free opinion, not worth a flea's turd.

The rest of your nonsense is laughable.

I'm quite honored to be occupying this space, for a line or two. I appreciate the recognition.

As for Andrew...... I cannot celebrate his death, as some have done. But what is even sadder to me is that there is nothing to celebrate about his LIFE.

It appears that Breitbart was a troubled man. He had an alcohol problem, and perhaps he wasn't able to completely surmount it.
