THE GODWINS ARE COMING! THE GODWINS ARE COMING!

Dr. Ben Carson, the right wing's favorite African-American conservative, is pandering again to the cray-crays in his party, and they love him to pieces for it.

In classic Godwinian rant, American Progressives, Carson claims, will impose Nazism on the U.S. presumably by making nonProgressives wear yellow peace signs on their clothes and wrecking their businesses ala Kristallnacht. NonProgressives will make this country condemn innocent men, women, and children to death and march them to death camps.

Dr. Carson, by warning conservative Americans about the coming Progressive/Nazi takeover of America, must also believe Progressives will annex Canada and Mexico to the U.S. and then immediately blitzkrieg all red states, maiming and killing hundreds of thousands of god-fearing nonProgressives, because THAT is what Liberal/Progressives want to do! Progressives want to turn America into NAZI GERMANY!!!!!11!

So sayeth Dr. Crazy Ben Carson.

Yes, this guy, whom the presumably rational cons believe is a serious person, actually implied this.

Who could forget how those Progressive Nazis demanded equal rights for their gay citizens, how the Progressive Nazis encouraged labor and trade unions,
or how Progressives in the Third Reich encouraged Aryan women to reproduce only wanted children.

Yes, kindly Dr. Carson gave warning to his beloved TeaPublicans about the coming imposition of Nazism on America by American Progressives, and no one laughed in his face or called for the men in white coats with the butterfly nets!

The cons are so eaten up by the fact that Barack Hussein Obama is the president of these United States, that they've sunk to the point of encouraging a talented pediatric surgeon with fevered hallucinations about Progressives to make a fool of himself in front of large crowds of people.

Poor Dr. Carson.

These seriously stupid comparisons may arouse the TeaPublicans' darkest and swampiest fears of where they imagine this country is headed, based on nothing, but that is all the more reason for Dr. Carson's popularity with the low-information voters in that particular segment of the agitated voting public.

But do not let your paranoia consume you, O TeaPubs, because Dr. Carson has assured you all that even if you believe these coming unimaginable cataclysmic events, brought to you by NAZI PROGRESSIVES!, won't happen here, 'YOU'RE VERY WRONG!"

However, he, Dr. Super nonProgressive Carson, WILL NOT LET IT HAPPEN HERE!!!111!

Do you feel the comforting gooey warmth of safety now, O ye cons? Dr. Carson hopes so. He knows how to stir the deepest, creepiest imaginings of the dopiest, creepiest among you.  And you fall for this absurd twaddle every time.

"Dr. Ben Carson knows how to get an audience of conservatives going. In a recent speech, the retired Johns Hopkins neurosurgeon and current Fox News contributor suggested that progressives could turn the United States into the next Nazi Germany, according to The Huffington Post.

The comments came at a Jan. 31 fundraiser for Oregon Republican Senate candidate Dr. Monica Wehby. A video of the speech, uploaded to YouTube, shows Carson discussing how the "secular progressive movement" wants to "fundamentally change who we are." The majority of Americans who have "common sense," meanwhile, are "afraid to speak out," Carson said, because "they will be targeted, they will be called names, they will be investigated by the IRS, and all kinds of unimaginable things will happen."

A few moments later, Carson brought up the Nazis. "There comes a time when people with values simply have to stand up," he said. "Think about Nazi Germany. Most of those people did not believe in what Hitler was doing. But did they speak up? Did they stand up for what they believe in? They did not, and you saw what happened."

"And if you believe that same thing can't happen again, you're very wrong," Carson then added. "But we're not going to let it happen."  --Talking Points Memo

Rhetoric, the juice of partisan hackery.

USA - Paying the price

Better than the honest competition of the Olympics for political hacks and true believers.

Last week, two people on coffee break standing in the parking lot of an office building ridiculed a passing driver whose car had pulled into the parking lot. Why? The driver had an "Obama 2012" sticker on the back bumper. "You have no right ridiculing and harassing people on account of their partisan affiliation," I said to them. Immediately, I re-entered the office building and cancelled my contract with their boss.

I am in the processing of buying a new house and will be moving from my current one next week. I have used the same moving company for years and know the cost estimator from previous moves. Yesterday, after he gave me his bid, he paused at the front door and mumbled some anti-Obama mumbo jumbo. Immediately, I cancelled the contract.

Business loss to the moving company: $2,000.
Loss to the boss of the employees in the parking lot: $9,000.

Warning: Keep your politics and religion to yourself or else you will lose my business.

Sweet revenge!

They're not even pretending to make sense any more. of course, lying about the Nazis has a long history among the loony right wing -- such as claiming the Nazis were influenced by Darwin, when in fact they banned Darwin's writings.

Pictures of the President modified with a Hitler mustache have shown up at teabagger rallies from time to time. It's just that they're hard to notice amid all the pictures depicting him as an African witch doctor or a chimpanzee.

In fact, there are still some Neo-Nazis -- open admirers of Hitler -- around today, though not many. I read their stuff on the net from time to time. To a man, they loathe Obama and progressivism and everything we stand for.

Keep thoughts and opinions (yours) to yourself.

Allow me however to express mine.

Ah, reminiscent of every totalitarian state in history.

Trending continues.

Anonymous @10:05, it's difficult to figure out what exactly you mean.

No one, especially Dr. Carson, has been told to keep his thoughts to himself. He freely expresses his paranoia whenever he is invited to speak publicly and whenever he is on FAUX NOOZ.

If this were truly a "totalitarian state," as your comment seems to imply, Dr. Carson would have been hauled off to the gulag a long time ago.

I can't count the number of upstanding citizens and pols in this country that have been reported saying that the president of the United States should be executed or hanged or face some other sort of life-ending fate because he's a dictator Progressive Nazi Muslim Kenyan Socialist baby-killer.

All of those people, to the best of my knowledge, are still alive and able to express those pristine thoughts to their families and neighbors.

This doesn't happen in totalitarian regimes.

Perhaps there's a history book in your local library that explains it.

Good point. We all know what would have happened to somebody in Nazi Germany who talked about Hitler the way Carson (or Beck or Limbaugh or dozens of others of that ilk) talk about Obama.

Anon,
When decent tax-paying citizens cannot PARK A CAR in a public parking lot without PARTISAN HARASSMENT, when I cannot order a moving service without a partisan hack HARASSING ME IN MY OWN HOME, then I will tell you where FASCIST SHOE FITS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PROJECTION is when you harass and slander people - and when you accuse the same people you are slandering of Fascism, then this country is headed down a very dark path.

This kind of behavior is beyond tolerable limits, and my impatience is reaching the boiling point.

Love it when RW Hate goes all 'Monty' on USA. Afraid to speak out? One can rest assured Mr Carson has never been allowed to speak on Murdoch Media/Fox Networks, right??

So is Dr Ben Carson trying out for the position of new Minster Of Propaganda (MOP)? Wasn't the MOP once held also by a 'Doctor Goebbels?'

I have seen no evidence that speaking one's mind results in arrest. Indeed, the know nothings are generally loud and ill-informed. There is no totalitarian regime in the U.S. Indeed, there is no desire on the part of Progressives to install such a regime. I'm not so certain about the Tea Party Republicans.

The upside is that this absurdity has largely burned itself out.

Wow Octo you are a very rich person and people should watch what they say around you. Of course isn't having the bumper sticker on your car a political statement and expressing your thoughts. So the people who mocked the sticker are not entitled to their right of free speech but you are. Yes Octo, you are a democrat. Free speech only applies to liberals and certainly not conservative blacks, shame on them for not marching in step.

The democratic spin machine is in overdrive. Now we have to spend another 100 million on the obamacare website and employer mandate are being delayed again.

Of course this will not affect all those people who are going to start a business because they get free healthcare and no longer have to work a job they don't like.

SK: It's not surprising that skud doesn't have a clue about the 1st Amendment and free speech. He rarely gets things right.

The First Amendment prohibits THE GOVERNMENT from prohibiting free speech (except in some specific cases, like threatening to kill the POTUS or yelling FIRE! in a crowded theater, or talking about bombs while boarding an airliner, etc.).

Free speech has absolutely nothing to do with a private individual reacting to another private individual's or corporation's exercising his or its free speech. Boycotts against corporations and individuals are perfectly legal and a way to show them that what they say is either egregiously offensive or stupid. I suppose you were perfectly happy with MSNBC's having to apologize after hundreds of conservatives and others protested what their talking heads said on their individual shows? People were p.o.'d at Ed Schultz, Melissa Harris Perry, and Alec Baldwin lost his show.

(O)CT(O)PUS is well withing his rights as a U.S. citizen to let those who are offensive know his displeasure, for whatever reason he wishes to, within the law.

You are appalling ignorant of what the 1st Amendment protects. Low-information?

Skud: "The democratic spin machine is in overdrive. Now we have to spend another 100 million on the obamacare website and employer mandate are being delayed again."

SK: More low information on your part. Any program of the A.C.A.'s magnitude goes through such adjustments. To call it "spin" is a great example of real spin and whining because you don't understand anything about this sort of massive new legislation.

Skud: "Of course this will not affect all those people who are going to start a business because they get free healthcare and no longer have to work a job they don't like."

Your ignorance on the above statement is jaw-dropping, but not one bit of a surprise.

People who've obtained coverage through the A.C.A. have to pay premiums. Only the poorest and most desperate have their premiums covered, which explains why you, a con/libertarian, are so p.o.'d. After all, you see the poor, the disabled, our veterans, and children as "moochers." We liberals see them as worthy of our help, part of the social contract in a civilized country to be our brothers' and sisters' keepers.

Ms shaw,

Some of you points are valid, free speech is to protect us from the government and not each other.

The whole notion that people are going go part time so they can still receive their obamacare subsidy and then they are going to use that time to spend with family or open a business is absolutely ludicrous. Who with any sense would believe that. Like I said the democrat spin machine is working overtime.

BTW the poor always got healthcare it is called medicaid.

Skud,
You have attributed stuff about me that do not describe me. These are not only projections from your immature imagination, you have OFFENDED me!

I am not a Democrat; I'm registered as an independent. I do not post bumper stickers on my car. Either you do not read my comments, or you have the reading comprehension of a two-year old.

Finally, you missed the point of my comment: I will not be TAUNTED OR HARASSED DUE TO MY RELIGION OR POLITICS - NOT IN MY HOME, NOT IN PUBLIC, AND NOT IN THIS FORUM.

Now go away, asshole!

okjimm said...

hmmmm...I had written something else...but the dog ate my comments.

Skud is most certainly a True Believer in the classic sense that he has absolved himself of the neccesity of individual thought and as bequethed that responsibility to the Tea Party cult.

"There is a fundamental difference between the appeal of a mass movement and the appeal of a practical organization. The practical organization offers opportunities for self-advancement, and its appeal is mainly to self-interest. On the other hand, a mass movement, particularly in its active, revivalist phase, appeals not to those intent on bolstering and advancing a cherished self, but to those who crave to be rid of an unwanted self. A mass movement attracts and holds a following not because it can satisfy the desire for self-advancement, but because it can satisfy the passion for self-renunciation." -Eric Hoffer

What is abhorable in the Tea Party movement is this belief that being fucking rude is a estimable virtue. Octo, and his statements of action, are a clear description of free choice.

A friend of mine who owns a pizza parlor, and is decidely liberal in his views, will not discuss politics, sex, or religion at work. "I sell pizza to everyone"
When we are having beer in the backyard it is a different discussion. Those businesses missed that point entirely.

but back to Skud and another thought by Hoffer....

“Rudeness is the weak man's imitation of strength.”

Okjimm,
Thank you, thank you, and thank you again.

This is how Fascism begins: First, the harassment and name-calling in the streets. The unwelcome visit in your own home followed by insulting innuendo. Next, pushing and shoving, a smack on the side of the head, random blows sight unseen. Followed by the breaking of glass. And this is what I witnessed, of all places, in my own hometown and in my place of residence. A random driver sporting an Obama bumper sticker harassed by office workers on their coffee break. An estimator from a moving company - a man whom I have known for years – suddenly questioning me about my politics as he exits my front door.

Last year, in my hometown (a very conservative place), the mayor was dismissed by the town council because the mayor refused to allow a person from a different faith to address a public meeting. “Non-Christians not allowed in here,” he said.

Yes, these are examples of fascism … not left wing fascism but examples of Tea Party fascism, extreme rightwing fascism, Southern Evangelical fascism, elimination from public life based on religion, fascism by public opprobrium that tolerates nothing except their own kind, the fascism of nullification and nihilism. In an American town, circa 2014 !!! UNBELIEVABLE!

I am getting damn tired of these Godwin fallacies hurled in my direction by people who are themselves sewer-rat fascists. And I am damned sick and tired of being called a “libtard” and a “Fabian socialist” by people who would sooner persecute me given the chance.

If people do not respect my politics and my religion, then they do not respect me as a person. Shaw has welcomed comments from the opposite end of the political spectrum only to be ridiculed and betrayed by them. Three years ago, the Swash Zone community had the same experience: Ridicule and massive plagiarism (over 8,000 words) by a rightwinger who presented himself in “friendship.” I am tired of the constant drizzle of sneer and jeer, the deceptions, outright lies, betrayals, and verbal abuse. I am done with these people!

I don't suppose it would do any good to tell this guy the real Nazi's were reactionary conservatives and about as far from 'progressive' as it's possible to get.
