This post from Talking Points Memo needs to be included with rockync's blogpost about ebola hysterics:
A Big Win For Science And Rationality
"The court is fully aware of the misconceptions, misinformation, bad science and bad information being spread from shore to shore in our country with respect to Ebola," he wrote, according to the AP. "The court is fully aware that people are acting out of fear and that this fear is not entirely rational."

But the Earth is only 6,000 years old and Evolution is a lie from the pit of hell, as the Tea party morons tell us again and again. The TPers: "Poors are moochers, women are sluts, and science is stoopid."
That's ignorance from the pit of hell.
"LePage stated earlier from Yarmouth, “We don’t know what we don’t know about Ebola. Therefore, I’m a little disappointed. But the monkey’s on [the judge’s] back, not mine. He made the decision. We will abide by the ruling.”
In contrast to the Republican governor, Maine Attorney General Janet Mills — elected to office in 2012 by Democratic majorities in the Maine House and Senate — lauded the judge’s ruling.
“I am especially pleased that a well-respected member of the Maine judiciary crafted an order based on medical science, an order that accommodates the important constitutional liberty interests of the individual and the public interest in minimizing any potential risk of a disease such as Ebola,” she said in a statement released late Friday afternoon."

That's from the Bangor Daily News which does seem a little antagonistic to LePage, to be fair.
Reminds me of the braying from the right when they found out that Hickox is a Democrat. The dreaded liberal intent on participating in Obama's plot to bring Ebola to the U.S.
Kudos to Kaci Hickox. The adults win this one.
Good one from Wonkette
... be sure to watch the video, Kaci Goes for a Bike ride. "Very crowded area in Maine" according to Faux News. The only people in the video are the idiotic reporters.
Why must we suffer these mamalukes?
Kudos to the judge for recognizing the fear as irrational and not reality-based.
There is no justification for limiting the freedom of action of an individual due to the totally baseless fears of others -- any more than for limiting that freedom of action due to the arbitrary taboos of others' religion.
The race for the governorship in Maine is a close one. It's difficult to believe that many people in Maine could support a lunkhead like LePage. But there it is. Meanwhile it does appear that the grown-ups got this one right.
LePage stated earlier from Yarmouth, “We don’t know what we don’t know about Ebola.....
Funny how they always say that about things like Ebola, global warming, and evolution, where in fact the evidence is so clear and overwhelming that for all practical purposes our knowledge of the subject amounts to certainty. They don't understand it, therefore it can't be definite knowledge.
A random collection of myths and folk tales handed down from a tribe of ignorant and superstitious barbarians in Palestine thousands of years ago, on the other hand -- the veracity of that is beyond question.
Jeebus! I read the Wonkette piece. Faux Nooz is really playing their viewers like a cheap violin. They must fall over laughing after each hysterical report they give on Nurse Kaci. How do they keep a straight face while being so stupidly absurd?
Best comment: "“She should be quarantined for being obnoxious” is exactly the kind of hard-hitting analysis I watch Fox News for."
Top comment:
"Shouldn't we be bombing somebody about this?"
The links and the pointy heads have the opposite sides ends of the poll.
50% in the middle aren't paying attention and the other 50% are simply shaking their heads and chuckling.
Time for a tall one.
But the monkey’s on [the judge’s] back, not mine
Don't you see, fellow libtards? Science, evidence and reason are the monkeys on our backs. If we want to be truly free we must do what Gov. LePage has done. Shake the monkey, then give it a good spanking.
"Shake the monkey, then give it a good spanking."
Perhaps if more of them heeded your good advice, they'd leave the rest of us alone.
Does anyone actually believe that the T-Publicans are capable of understanding, let alone believing in, anything science can teach humans? Hysteria is their god.

More overblown hyperbole. Like all political movements you have the extremes in both parties.
Like all political movements you have the extremes in both parties
Again with this bullshit. There's nothing in the Democratic party even remotely comparable to the utter flaming insanity that pervades the entire Republican party from the base to the highest levels. Nothing. The insanity is entirely on one side.
“We’re going to demand of our leadership in Washington and on the state level to get politics out of this and allow the medical community to tell us factually, what needs to be done,” Palin said.
Palin said she would talk to other governors about enacting a quarantine, if she were still serving in that role in Alaska.
“And I betcha we would come to the conclusion that you can’t trust the Obama administration,” she said, adding that liberals are using “Saul Alinsky tactics” to capitalize on crisis.
------
No RN, you don't have that level of stupid on the Democrat side.
You can't always play the "both sides" game.
One side (Hint: Palin) is so batshite crazy they should be housed in the Bates motel. No, it's one side that has completely lost its grip.
"Hysteria is their god", like they "hope for an ebola epidemic" is overblown hyperbole. And to crib Infidel can be considered bullshit.
But hey, each to their own views.
We need a viable third party. Vote third party wherever and whenever possible.
Ruth Marcus applauds Kaci Hickox.
"Thank you, Kaci Hickox.
You did the world a service in traveling to Sierra Leone to care for Ebola patients. Then you did your country a service in standing up for rationality.
It might have been easier to go along with the unnecessary quarantine. After all, as New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) observed with his usual sensitivity when Hickox was being detained in his state, “She was inside the hospital in a climate-controlled area with access to her cellphone, access to the Internet and takeout food from the best restaurants in Newark.”
Instead, Hickox made a brave, and useful, stink — and, as her bike ride watched round the world demonstrates, continues to do so."
Re: Rational Nation USA and his claim that both parties do it...here's an example of an unhinged nutcase on the right writing about Nurse Hickox, just read this blithering moron's rhetoric.
"The Oliphant Man said
For the sake of humanity as a whole all Obola victims and those who had the stupidity and misfortune to try tend them humanely should be treated with a FLAMETHROWER.
Start with that snotty sorry excuse for a human being, Nurse Hickcock. Just have the authorities wait on the kerb with the device well primed, and as she rides by on her dykebyke LET HER HAVE IT. Pour chlorine bleach over the ashes after they've stopped smoking. Make sure the dykebyke is melted down in a a steel mill. Incinerate all her clothes and possessions, then burn her house to the ground cover the ashes in muriatic acid."
This mentally unbalanced crazy is the one who should be in a padded cell...instead he or she who wrote that believes Hickox should be burned at the stake for not being sick?
Dykebike? It isn't enough that this feces-throwing mentally ill cretin suggests Hickox should be killed, but s/he labels her a dykebiker?
Both side do it?
A.R.N.A.B.,
As I've said before, it's a good thing that these sort of cretins express their honking dreads and fears, because it distracts them from their usual past time of eating paste and sticking forks in their eyes.
Or not.
