About that ebola epidemic...

...that the extremist "news" sources hammered the president with and that extremist pundits and bloggers lost their minds over:

U.S. DEVELOPMENTS President cautiously optimistic

President Barack Obama said a number of things made him "cautiously more optimistic" about the Ebola situation in the United States and around the world. Obama said he was encouraged that dozens of people who had initial contact with Ebola patient Thomas Eric Duncan did not get the virus. In addition, the two Americans who contracted Ebola outside and came to the United States for treatment were cured. He said he was pleased that both Nigeria and Senegal were Ebola free. "It gives you some sense that when it's caught early and where the public health infrastructure operates effectively, this outbreak can be stopped," Obama said.

Texas Hospital Admits Errors in Handling Ebola Patient:

"Texas Health Presbyterian admits breakdown The hospital system that owns Texas Health Presbyterian said it "fell short" several times in treating Duncan, starting by not asking the right questions in the emergency room. When the Liberian native came in with a fever, the nurse wrote down he "came from Africa" but didn't specify which nation. A physician wrote that Duncan was a "local resident," with "no contact with sick people. No symptoms of nausea, vomiting, diarrhea."

Leave it to the bottom feeder extremists to smear and slander the president at every chance they get, even when they're stupidly and embarrassingly wrong.

Those Chicken Littles even suggested that Mr. Obama deliberately brought the ebola virus to the U.S. so that...blah, blah, blah, FEMA camps...blah, blah, blah...Messicans...blah, blah, blah...declare Martial Law...blah, blah, blah...stop the elections...blah, blah, blah...he's loyal to Africa, not the U.S. because...blah..blah...
blah...BENGHAZI!

These extremists are the same jumping jerks who claim President Obama is divisive but who grabbed onto their hysteria rocket and rode it into their wild blue crazy over one person in the U.S. who died of the ebola virus, because Obama is a Sochialist, Commie, America-hating African!  Just wait for some other news-grabbing story, and they'll come squawking at the top of their Little Henny Penny lungs to BLAME OBAMBOLA!

Now go get your flu shot.

It's more likely you'll die from that than EBOLA!

The only way most Americans could be harmed by Ebola is if they gave themselves a stroke from fretting over these people's bullshit about it.

Don't get flu shots. Last one I had (2'nd of 2) I got sick. That was about 35 years ago.

Maybe when I'm old and feeble I'll consider my 3'rd.

It is more likely you will get struck by lightening than die from ebola. Perhaps we should appoint a lightening czar. Or maybe construct a dome over the US to keep out the lightening.

Are you listening republicans?

Shaw, here's the thing for me... every side in politics has there extremists. Dems ID and accept theirs pretty openly...

But for the GOP side of the aisle, I've found most conservatives refuse to even give an example of an extreme view on their side.

One must ask the question of why that is? Could it be that in the view many conservatives and/or GOP members, there is no such thing as an extreme view?

While I am sure some would argue that, I think they demur for fear of alienating supporters or having to call themselves extreme...

Infidel753, there were some legitimate concerns when Mr. Duncan was taken to the hospital suffering from ebola, but those concerns turned into hysteria and that hysteria was encouraged by the usual suspects who turn every issue this country faces into an indictment on Mr. Obama and his presidency, as if every other president in our history were perfect.

IMO, the only purpose to hype the hysteria was to damage the president and the Democrats in the coming elections. How many voters will come to their senses and realize they were had by the extremists who sell hysteria to their followers?

The one year that I didn't get a flu shot is the one year I got a very bad case of the flu, which left my hearing compromised. Yes. The virus attacked the cilia in my right ear and did some damage from which it cannot recover.

I get a flu shot every year now. I don't think it's a good idea to discourage people from inoculating themselves from a vicious virus. I gambled that I wouldn't get the flu that year and I lost.

Shaw Kenawe said...

Jerry, I'm surprised that we don't have a flu czar, since more people suffer and die from that every year, but I never read or hear hysteria from the extremists over that very real threat.

Dave, I learned a very valuable lesson where it concerns certain elements of the far right.

They stick together no matter how rotten and degenerate some of their kind are. They cannot bring themselves to admit that some among them are not fit for decent society, and they are too cowardly to distance themselves from the crazy and the depraved in their club. It's a matter of tribalism. If you're part of their ideological tribe, no matter how revolting your behavior is, you'll always be welcomed by them and never criticized.

"You can smell the fear.

Americans are so done with the corruption and scandal after scandal of the Obamas and they're waking up soon to the healthcare nightmare ("Wait, I thought my premiums would go down!!!", which I've heard SEVERAL times, and these folks haven't even become to sick to really experience the problems, as my agent foretells).......they're waking up.

The fraud and lies could still work; that's the problem. We can't have people voting for a Republican and having the computer enter the vote for the Dem. It says much about the Left that they'll jeopardize dignity and American values for a fraudulent win. But, of course, they'll deny it.

Odd that anything they don't like is KOCH BROS instigated, but we don't hear of the SOROS backing, do we.
We're in big trouble in this country and some of us are trying so hard to bring back trust and honesty........I don't see that happening. Not really. Not after this administration."

In more news, the first infected nurse has had her condition elevated to good and the second nurse has been declared free of the virus.

In a political environment free of politically manipulated panic we might take the opportunity to be grateful for their recovery and to review mistakes made and strengthen our procedures.

My guess is that the right wing will still be screaming for a travel ban since putting their finger in their ears and screaming, Benghazi, Benghazi, Benghazi isn't likely to be effective. They are probably hoping for another case to develop so that Ebola remains a relevant catalyst for ODS (Obama Derangement Syndrome).

Didn't mean to imply or discourage anyone from getting a flu shot. Of course it's a personal decision and if ones doctor recommends it a person certainly should give great weight to their recommendation.

I gamble every year and so far knock on wood (or perhaps my head) I've won each year. But approaching 63 I might rethink my strategy in the near future. Although my wife is 68 and she hasn't had a flu shot only once, some 40 years ago.

Genetics or great luck?

A lightning Czar and a dome, now that's original thinking Jerry. Sarah Palin and Louie Gohmert just might jump on that one.

A doctor who returned from Guinea after treating patients has tested positive after he checked himself in with a fever.

Donald Trump is going freaking nuts and wants Obama to resign.
Get ready for the full court press.

Shaw Kenawe said...

Ducky, the doctor contracted the virus while in Guinea and now is in the U.S. for treatment. There's no reason for panic unless one can make political hay out of this.

A bowl of oatmeal has more smarts than Trump. He's just another clown who's made his home with the extremists of the GOP.

Well the first infected nurse has been reported virus free and released.

Meanwhile, the story on the infected New York doctor is that he was in self monitoring and did nothing that would have endangered the public.

First signs of symptoms and he was in hospital. There are a three people in isolation including his fiancee (whom I doubt he would endanger).

Meanwhile the media is running stories about people afraid to ride the New York subway for fear of Ebola infection.

Right wing elements are not going to let go of this as they use panic to work the crowd before the election. Pretty vile.

Sorry to be OT, shaw, bu I thought this was interesting.

"Islam is a verbal noun originating from the triliteral root s-l-m which forms a large class of words mostly relating to concepts of wholeness, safeness and peace."

In a religious context it means "voluntary submission to God".

Submitting to God’s Purpose

Islam and Christianity have a lot in common.

Les Carpenter said...

Indeed they do. They both have a violent history.

One more than the other and it seems it is the one blowing up buildings and beheading in the 21st century.

Jerry Critter said...

Yes, RN, definitely one more than the other. Here is a comparison. This is the only one I've looked at so no guarantee of accuracy.
