The Republican Wave!
It's everywhere! Especially in Wisconsin:
"Madison – State Rep. Jim Steineke (R-Vandenbroek), with a rap sheet spanning two decades worth of offenses including operating while intoxicated, hit and run, trespassing, and resisting an officer, was elected Assistant Majority Leader by fellow GOP members of the Assembly.
He replaces Rep. Dan Knodl, a state legislator with an equally disturbing public record that includes an open records violation, disorderly conduct, and selling liquor without a license."
[skip]
"Rep. Steineke’s long list of offenses, available in full on MeetTheMajority.com, includes:
June 2010: Sued by a small business printing company for $3,328.7 – a money claim over an unpaid debt;
April 2003: Citation for OWI #1, Operate w/ BAC over .10. Blew a .18 into breathalyzer;
July 1997: Citation for operating auto after revocation;
September 1991: Charged with hit and run, driving after revocation; and
April 1991: Resist/Obstruct Officer, Hindering (2 separate charges). Convicted on both charges, ordered to pay fines.
Steineke continued his disregard for public decency in early 2011, telling theMilwaukee Journal Sentinel, “I don’t particularly care what people think,” in response to criticism for sponsoring a repeal of the mandatory auto insurance coverage law he had been cited for violating just months earlier."
But wait! There's more! Here's another "wave" the T-GOP can brag on:
Hate Group Leader Gordon Klingenschmitt Elected to Colorado House
Klingenschmitt captured nearly 70 percent of the vote in the heavily Republican District located in El Paso County, on the eastern side of Colorado Springs.
But Klingenschmitt isn’t your usual conservative. He heads up the Pray in Jesus Name Project, which is listed by the Southern Poverty Law Center as an anti-LGBT hate group.
Klingenschmitt himself is perhaps best-known for his attempts to exorcise demons out of various people (including President Obama), as well as his numerous false claims and bizarre statements about homosexuality.
They include: Alleging that he performed an exorcism on a lesbian soldier who was a rape victim who had come to him for counseling after the assault.
[skip]
Claiming that LGBT people may sexually abuse their own children and “crave” to adopt the children of heterosexual people for “recruitment” into homosexuality.
70% of those nice Republicans in his district think Crazy Gordon will be an awesome state legislator. He can, y'know, chase demons and stuff out of people's noggins! Good on you, people of Colorado Springs! You voted for what rocks! (In your heads.)
Beware Blood Moons
While conservative politicians have denounced the science behind climate change as a big lie, some are very interested in the “science” behind “blood moons,” with more Religious Right activists arguing that lunar eclipses are actually signs of God’s impending judgment against America for policies such as abortion rights and LGBT equality.
Jody Hice, a Georgia Republican who just won a seat in the U.S. House, for example, told listeners on his talk radio show that the appearance of blood moons “have preceded world-changing, shaking-type events.”
“I certainly am aware of the fact that every time there have been blood moons like this, there have been major events that have followed,” he said.
A U.S. Representative believes his god is going to punish ALL Americans for not hating the LGBT community enough to take away their Constitutional rights, and for allowing women and girls to exercise their rights. Beware the Blood Moon, and CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES. Everytime I've eaten one, a major event in the world has followed!
Oh dear! Wisconsin again! (I expect our friend okjimm will have something to say about this.)
According to Wisconsin state senator and soon-to-be U.S. Rep. Glenn Grothman, your children will be subjected to GAII RECRUITMENT in their classrooms!
"Grothman instead proposed that schools enact their own “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policies, lest growing support for gay rights in the U.S. lead to divine punishment."
At least one Republican candidate knows the true identity of the Antichrist, and it’s Hillary Clinton.
Ryan Zinke, the successful Montana GOP U.S. House candidate who helped launch the Super PAC Special Operations for America, told a Republican group that Clinton is Satan’s bride, and he knows this to be so because he speaks the truth:
“It’s time to stop the lies. Let’s talk about the truth,” Zinke said.
“We need to focus on the real enemy,” he said, referring to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, whom he called the “anti-Christ.”
Wait.
I thought Barack Hussein Obama was the anti-Christ! Are there more anti-Christs running around the U.S.of A. forcing people to gay marry each other (if they haven't already married their pet goats)? If President Obama is the anti-Christ, will Hillary Clinton be the anti-Christess?
It's all so confusing! Good thing we have these brilliant new GOP state and federal legislators to caution us about things that are really important. One never knows where to find a handy exorcist when a demon decides to take up housekeeping in one's skull.
Now we do.

I jus gotta get me a surfin board! SOON before da wave crashes.
And I'm still waiting for a conservative to give me an example of extremist or racist views we might see from the right.
Sadly, they are unable to even condemn views such as these on their bligs for fear of losing readership...
Given that reality, we should not interpret these views as extreme, but rather, the heart and soul of the base of the GOP...
Goofballs abound.
RN, for you.
Dave: "Sadly, they are unable to even condemn views such as these on their [blogs] for fear of losing readership..."
Dave, what would anyone expect from a group of people who supported a blog and commenters who used pornography and slander as a tool to demean people they disagreed with?
Certainly no one would expect any of those characters to condemn something they happily engage in on a daily basis.
The only conservatives/libertarians with any character or decency were RN, dmarks, and even skud was somewhat shocked.
So, no. I don't expect anything honorable from that gang.
A.R.W.N.B.,
Sadly, yes.
... and we haven't even heard from Joni Ernst yet.
As long as the likes of Dr. Chaps gets elected the Republican party will feel that pull from the right knowing the members can get "primaried" by the fringe whenever they step out of line.
A small number a funders has subverted the democratic process.
Here's another crazy TPer: Sam Brownback won re-election and his state is taking a nose-dive financially. The people of Kansas must be nuttier than the people in Wisconsin .
"the state’s economic and job growth rates lag behind its neighbors and state revenue projections have fallen massively short of their desired targets.
During the 2014 fiscal year, Kansas took in $330 million less in tax revenue than was forecast, and $700 million less in revenue than during the previous fiscal year. Out of a state budget of roughly $6 billion, that is a gigantic hole to fill. The state’s poor financial situation has led both Standard & Poor’s and Moody’s to downgrade the Kansas credit rating."
A succinct look at the upcoming SCOTUS ruling on ACA from digby:
As we all wait in dread for the day conservatives to take to the streets and start speaking in tongues when John Roberts lugubriously tells America that Obamacare needs a little congressional "fix" in order to be legal --- a "fix" which everyone knows is impossible under a Republican congress. It's a diabolically clever way for the Supremes to overturn the law without taking responsibility for it that you have to stand back in awe. (Just to be clear, I assume they will do this --- it will restore my faith in our system just a bit if they don't.)
------
All these political machinations in order to deny people medical coverage. And there will be many who will just be thrilled by this.
I have Dave.
Very cool Shaw. :-)
2016 is looking better and better. The Republican establishment managed to keep all these flaming nutballs from Akining themselves long enough to get elected, but stifling them for two whole years is gonna be impossible.
RN, you are a prime example... you dared to breach orthodoxy and have been pilloried.
There is no way any sane person would consider you a progressive, or liberal, and yet, you get slimed with the rest of us.
All for the sin of trying to be reasonable and disagreeing agreeably...
Yeah, Dave. That group will not tolerate anything but total compliance with orthodoxy.
They were brutal to RN because he's an independent thinker. He has more character than they can ever hope to attain in two life times--especially those who believe they're refined and better cultured than anyone else.
RN and I butt heads now and then, but he doesn't ever stoop to the gutter politics they engage in. That's why I'm more willing to listen to his P.O.V. and consider his ideas.
I think this guy deserves the pariah treatment that David Duke got.
Dave M said: "And I'm still waiting for a conservative to give me an example of extremist or racist views we might see from the right."
What do you mean?
Ok all you "both sides do it" people, where's your equivalent list of democratic whackos and criminals?
ok....OK....Glenn 'FUCKING' Grothman is MY new Congress-fucking person....AND has taken over, in my opinion, as the dumbest fucking person in Congress. Bar none. Check him out...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glenn_Grothman
...see the shit head MOVED into the district, rented a cheap apartment, merely to take oodles of fucking money to run for congress...previously, the single 60 yr old man had lived in his mother's basement.
Crazier than Palin,Bachmann,Cruz,King put together. Think I'm kidding??? the Fuck-head tried to pass a bill in the state to classify 'single parenthood' as abuse.....
“Section 1. 48.982 (2) (g) 2. of the statutes is amended to read: 48.982 (2) (g) 2. Promote statewide educational and public awareness campaigns and materials for the purpose of developing public awareness of the problems of child abuse and neglect. In promoting those campaigns and materials, the board shall emphasize nonmarital parenthood as a contributing factor to child abuse and neglect.
Section 2. 48.982 (2) (g) 4. of the statutes is amended to read: 48.982 (2) (g) 4. Disseminate information about the problems of and methods of preventing child abuse and neglect to the public and to organizations concerned with those problems. In disseminating that information, the board shall emphasize nonmarital parenthood as a contributing factor to child abuse and neglect.
shit&whiskers!!!! just google, Grothmann stupid, and the list continues....go ahead, try this quote, just to see that this cat ain't got no hat....
GROTHMAN: Yes. Right. I think we believe that insofar as there are inappropriate things, people who vote inappropriately are more likely to vote Democrat.
NOW...what the fuck was that supposed to mean???????????
ohohohohohohoh...the humanity, the hannity...damn....I had, under the influence of heavy drinking and the ingesting of multi doses of illegal drugs had almost erased this asshole from my memory. I even tried multiple views of Frank Capra movies....now my night is ruined again and I am all out craCK cocaine and phenobarbital...and tequila just doan work no more......
You are correct Dave. I am not a progressive in the conventional definition or understanding of the word. I am a Cassical Liberal philosophically and a fiscal conservative, however I am not supportive of the Tea Party.
An odd mixture o fiscal conservatism and social libertarianism. A live snd let live type of guy.
Unfortunately the new breed of conservatives are as bad or worse than I once found unbending liberals/progressives to be.
Thing is there are multiple shades of grey and quite often it pays to consider them all. It is for this I am "slimmed" by the fringe right and Tea Party folks. In addition I have been slimed by some on the left. One who is particularly strident in doing so.
It the price of being an independent in all things.
okjimm, I didn't realize Grothman was YOUR Congresscritter! Oh, I am so sorry. I didn't know people this barking mad could be voted into office, but the TPers have proved that they most certainly can. This guy is a real nutter.
From The Capital Times, Madison, WI, quotes from Grothman:
"Did people even know what homosexuality was in high school in 1975?” he asked the Cap Times in 2010. “I don't remember any discussion about that at the time. There were a few guys who would make fun of a few effeminate boys, but that's a different thing than homosexuality."
Jeebus!
He suggested that the pay gap between men and women was due largely to men seeking better pay because they expect to be the primary breadwinners:
"In my personal experience, the reason most men make more than most women is that most men set themselves up or view themselves as breadwinners in the family. So, frequently it’s not unusual to have a guy working 50 or 60 hours a week and the gal’s working 35 or 40 hours a week."
Oy vey!
Indeed, the real problem is the country kicking men to the curb, he has said.
"Our country is not going to survive if we continue this war on men," he told a tea party rally in 2010.
And then there's his ongoing battle against Kwanzaa.
"Of course, almost no black people today care about Kwanzaa," he said. "Just white left-wingers who try to shove this down black people’s throats in an effort to divide Americans.”
In response to questions about his authority on the matter, he told me that he had "polled 20 black people at random" at airports in Los Angeles and Phoenix.
My Gawd! He makes Michele Bachmann look like a Rhodes Scholar.
About as crazy as you can get.
Huffington had an article on this guy. I don't think even Dr. Chaps can go this far.
He had the guys on the Majority Report in stitches
And THAT Shaw is very difficult to do. This dimwit must have graduated with high honors from 1'st grade.
Was there a training school for future Tea Party members back then?
okjimm, I have a great aunt and a couple 2'nd cousins in Wisconsin. Great cheese and knockwurst can be had in cheese head country.
Ducky: "About as crazy as you can get.
Huffington had an article on this guy. I don't think even Dr. Chaps can go this far.

A guy like the one you linked to used to be put in a padded cell to keep him from harming himself and others. Now they give him a church so he can pass his mental illness off as divine revelation?
Obviously a product of years of eating lead paint chips.
Damn! It does' t get more unhinged that that.
Lead paint or "touched by the Lord, God of Abraham."
DMarks... Logically, every view must have extremes... Taking religion out of the equation, what view would a conservative have to hold to be considered an extremist?
And here's the bonus Q that many refuse to answer... Lets assume that the criticisms leveled at Pres Obama have no basis in race, as many conservatives have argued. If there was a racial component to their criticisms, what would that look like?
These are the questions conservatives either are unable, or choose not to answer. Why do you think that is?
What's extreme? Tough to define.
In a short time the Robers (R - corporate pimp) court will take up the case of Federal subsidies to state exchanges.
The suit is based on some quirky wording in a couple sentences of the bill. I believe the suit has been rejected in lower courts but SCOTUS will take it and that's it.
Now there was never any way to revise the wording due to Republican obstruction and now that there is a majority in the Senate it may be some time before anything can be done.
In other words, the Roberts court is going to kill people. There is no reason to soften that. People will be denied insurance and as a result they will die. That's what's up with the traditional values crowd.
Does religion enter into it, Dave? I would hope that the Sermon has some sway with those who protest most loudly that this is a Christian nation. But let's face it, the Calvanists will remind us of the plight of the lazy, undeserving poor.
Undeserving of basic medical care. And that's what we've become and until there is a voice which will call this corrupted bought and paid for system what it is there will be no relief.
Ducky, we were the only democracy on the planet that didn't have a health care plan for its citizens. Why does anyone suppose that was? I think I can guess. Insurance companies made tons of money off of their policies that didn't deliver health insurance when people needed it, after paying premiums for years. Insurance companies are in the business of delivering $$$ to their shareholders, not health care for its customers.
The insurance companies are powerful corporations with enough clout to get the SCOTUS to demolish a pretty weak insurance delivery health care plan that had no help from the Repubs who now want to screw the people who need it the most.
They've done a great job of convincing folks like skud that helping the most vulnerable among us is a Communist plot.
