General John Kelly: "He said that, in his opinion, Mr. Trump met the definition of a fascist, would govern like a dictator if allowed, and had no understanding of the Constitution or the concept of rule of law."

"Don't Laugh, He's The President"

Trump's really not funny, but John Oliver IS, and here he is, recapping for us The Clown and his Insane Posse and what happened this weekend:

John Oliver:  After looking at Saturday morning’s tweet-storm accusing former Pres. Obama of tapping the phones at Trump Tower, Oliver said that the question isn’t so much, “What did the president know and when did he know it?” as “Is the president physically capable of knowing anything at all?”

From Digby:

For decades, Republicans cast themselves as the party of family values, wagging their finger at anyone who had fallen short of the moral standards they set. But when Trump came along, promising them the tax cuts and seats on the supreme court they craved, all that went out of the window. Suddenly they were prepared to embrace a thrice-married worshipper of mammon who brags about sexually assaulting women and was happy to assess his own daughter as “a piece of ass”. Note the polling on white evangelical Christians. In 2011 they were the group least likely to accept that a candidate guilty of immoral behaviour in their personal life might nevertheless be able to act ethically as a leader. Now they are the by 2017 to become the most forgiving on that score.

While we're highlighting comedy, Benasleep Carson checks in ...

WASHINGTON ― Ben Carson made his debut as secretary of Housing and Urban Development Monday by telling agency employees about the virtues of the “can-do” American society. Carson said this value system was best exemplified by slaves, whom he characterized as immigrants who came to the United States with very little and worked very hard.

“That’s what America is about,” Carson said. “A land of dreams and opportunity. There were other immigrants who came here in the bottom of slave ships, worked even longer, even harder for less. But they too had a dream that one day their sons, daughters, grandsons, granddaughters, great grandsons, great granddaughters might pursue prosperity and happiness in this land.”

He has a cabinet position in the Happy Hands administration, folks.

Sail Away, Ben

My sister called me and told me this. Carson was a successful brain surgeon, but I don't think he knows much of anything else. Immigrants? Came here with very little and worked very hard.
That's his story of slavery. No wonder he's the darling of the Goopers.

I think Carson needs to do an EEG on his own head. Something is not firing on all cylinders up there.

Between him and Betsy "HBCU is school choice" DeVos, we've got two folks who are, as Carson said, unqualified to be Cabinet Secretaries.

TWO unqualified to be cabinet secretaries? Don't forget the guy who forgot there was an energy cabinet post, Rick "Dancing With The Stars" Perry.

Aren't we a lucky country?
