Good Morning.

Are you ready for some nuclear war?

(CNN)President Donald Trump faced criticism from lawmakers in both parties on Tuesday after warning that North Korea would "face fire and fury like the world has never seen" if Pyongyang keeps threatening the United States.

Senate Armed Services Chairman John McCain said he took exception to Trump's comments, warning that the President might not be able to follow through with the threats he is making. "I take exception to the President's comments because you've got to be sure that you can do what you say you're going to do," the Arizona Republican said in an interview with Phoenix radio station KTAR.

"The great leaders I've seen don't threaten unless they're ready to act and I'm not sure President Trump is ready to act."

Do you remember Trump asking, during his campaign, why the US won't use nuclear weapons if we have them? I do.  Well here's the preznit threatening to do just that. How will the U.S. be able to use diplomacy now that Trump shot off his ignorant mouth with a threat of "fire and fury?" Does Trump even understand nuclear warfare?

As John McCain said, great leaders don't threaten that way. Leaders like Kim Jong Un do, and Trump is acting like Kim Jong Un.

Republican Senator Ben Cardin reported this morning that Trump did not consult with anyone, the Secretary of State or head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, etc., before issuing his bellicose threats.

Trump is a dangerous idiot.

That is about the stupidest and most dangerous statement I have ever heard an American president make,” John Mecklin, editor-in-chief of Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, said to HuffPost.

The Bulletin created the “Doomsday Clock,” a symbolic representation of humanity’s proximity to apocalyptic destruction. Trump’s remarks followed reports Tuesday from NBC News and The Washington Post that North Korea has developed a nuclear warhead small enough to fit inside one of its long-range missiles.

"A man with no moral compass is capable of anything."

And this is why Trump must be impeached as soon as possible, no matter how bad Pence is. On domestic policy Pence would be very bad indeed, but on foreign policy he would be a "normal" President, in the sense that he'd be no more likely than Bush, Obama, etc. to blunder into a nuclear conflict out of sheer incompetence.

Eric Prince wants Trump to name him viceroy of Afghanistan

Remember, Betsy DeVos is his sister.

This is incredible and is probably okay with Lord Dampnut.

"“By aligning U.S. efforts under a presidential envoy, all strategic decisions regarding humanitarian aid, military support and intelligence become laser-focused on creating a stable, self-supporting Afghanistan,” he argued.
In an interview with CNN’s Erin Burnett on Monday, Prince also insisted more air support was needed, meaning his private air force, something he has been described as having an “obsession” with in the past."

We are in an environment where expressing the insane is commonplace.

... or he could be stupid enough to use the threats as a cover for the fact that the FBI presented Manafort with a no knock search warrant this morning.

Don't you recall that the US tried negotiating with the regime from a point of weakness over the past 24 years, Clinton, Bush and Obama. It has just gotten more dangerous giving them nuclear technologies.
Maybe approaching them from a position of strength will have results because they don't pay any attention to a reasonable approach.
The previous administration put the US weakened by not advancing our missle defense systems but that is what happens when you lead from behind

ralph, Trump unequivocally stated that if NK made any more threats it would be punished with fury and fire the likes of which the world has never known (Wow! worse than Hiroshima and Nagasake!).

NK responded by threatening to send missiles to Guam. There's the red line Trump said NK cannot cross: ANOTHER THREAT.

The question now is: Will Trump unleash nuclear destruction on NK, as he promised, or what????

Trump's actions are those of a weak tyrant, not a powerful leader.

You people who support this nitwit are responsible for his stupidity and recklessness with people's lives. Trump is a breathing, walking moron who knows nothing about anything, and his wildly reckless threats prove it.

Is diplomacy still an option?
The risks of a military strike or all out conflict with North Korea are well documented and US Defense Secretary James Mattis has consistently said he favors finding a diplomatic solution -- warning earlier this year that military action could result in tragedy "on an unbelievable scale."

Soeone needs to put Trump in a padded cell with his hands tied behind his back to prevent further tweeting that will get us all killed.

You may be correct that negotiating from a position of weakness may be the way to go. We have history to point to with the escalation of ISIS and Russia back to being a major power influence again.

I actually doubt Trump is going to act out "the doomsday scenario", but Kim just might.

Threatening bellicose provacative rhetoric from the "leader" of the western world is counterproductive and dangerous.

Trump, if he had any sense, should pull back the confrontational rhetoric, walk softly while in dialogue with allies, as well as Russia and China to find a peaceful long term resolution to a 65
year old problem.

Carry the big stick but unsheath it only after all other options are exhausted. Maybe it is time to offer a thaw in relations with NK, including trade and diplomatic if they meet reasonable criteria. Reasonable to mean what would be considered reasonable to most people. Not the extreme left OR right.

ralph, Trump is in charge now. He bragged with a very large mouth that no one in Washington know what the hell they were doing, and that he had a very good brain -- that was his foreign policy expertise -- and he'd be able to do very good deals.

This is Trump's problem now and he doesn't know what the hell he's doing.

He's lazy, stupid, and a bully. And he knows nothing about NK or Kim JU. That's why he made a fool of himself by putting down a red line, which Kim JU crossed almost immediately.

In retrospect, and fairness, tRump is not the first to have put down the red line or line in the sand.

True, RN, but he was very LOUD when he criticized President Obama for doing the very thing he's done. That's why I'm criticizing him. It's so easy to criticize, but so difficult to actually do the work as president. It's also way more complicated and nuanced than Trump is capable of knowing. He's been a failure, IMO, so far.
