General John Kelly: "He said that, in his opinion, Mr. Trump met the definition of a fascist, would govern like a dictator if allowed, and had no understanding of the Constitution or the concept of rule of law."

FIFTY YEARS AGO -- April 4, 1968

We will never forget.

"When our days become dreary with low-hovering clouds of despair, and when our nights become darker than a thousand midnights, let us remember that there is a creative force in this universe working to pull down the gigantic mountains of evil, a power that is able to make a way out of no way and transform dark yesterdays into bright tomorrows. Let us realize that the arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice." -- MLK, August 1967

The Civil Rights Movement unknowingly changed the trajectory of my life. The changes it brought to America ultimately made it possible for a skinny white guy like me to learn golf from a black contemporary of Curtis Sifford, meet my wife, send my son to college and to worship at a fully integrated church in 60's.

While some may [incorrectly in my opinion] argue that MLK and black people in general pushed too hard too soon for the changes they advocated, I often wonder where I'd be today had he not stepped out in faith and pushed America.

We lost a great man that day and while we've continued to make progress, we're still suffering as a result.

"Of the people with whom I have shared my time on this planet, I believe King is the most heroic, the most like Christ or the Buddha. Churchill, FDR, Kennedy, Ghandi, Mother Teresa, for me, King eclipses them all. Not that anyone’s asking or there’s a competition or anything but 50 years ago the brightest light in a generation was snuffed out. The great cause of love and compassion, of peace and reconciliation that he led has had many heroic martyrs. Clearly he knew he was at risk and still he carried on.

He was human and he had human weaknesses and misgivings but when he was called upon, he stood up and shouldered the load. A truly great man, he was equal to the great challenge of our time, the deeply rooted racial injustice that plagues our nation and threatens the noble American experiment. He showed us the way.

...Let us turn our thoughts today to Martin Luther King
And recognize that there are ties between us,
All men and women, living on the earth
Ties of hope and love, of sister and brotherhood
That we are bound together
in our desire to see the world become
A place in which our children can grow free and strong
We are bound together by the task that stands before us
and the road that lies ahead
We are bound and we are bound..."

Defining a person with principles and courage. Something Dr. King possessed in abundance.

Hopefully in another 50 years my generation's great grandchildren will be living MOM's Dream.

FJ, why do you act like a troll and insert your propaganda into a post about Martin Luther King, Jr.? Don't you have other venues where you can beg to be heard?

Bill Clinton is a private citizen now, BTW, unliuke lthe whoremonger who is currently desecrating America's White House.

Give it a rest, FJ. Your attempts at changing the subject sucks.

"Trump on Wednesday tweeted a video clip of remarks he delivered on King’s birthday in January. "

tRump couldn't bring himself to speak today. He left it to Sarah Huckabee Sanders to make a few quotes.
It was all kind of lukewarm as one might expect.

Not a day that drew any attention from the right wing blogs.

In his final years King was aware of much more than racism harming America. Income inequality and militarism had also come to the fore.
Qualities that form tRump's base of support.
