President Spanky's nominee for the head of veterans affairs, Ronny Jackson, is in trouble?

What a surprise.

We know that #45 reaches into the swamp and pulls out the swampiest incompetents and unqualified creatures that percolate in the muck.  He's had the highest turnover in administration personnel than any other president in modern history, starting with his choice for NSA, Mike Flynn, who lasted all of  18 days.

Trump's reckless choices to head his cabinet posts are what people who paid attention during his campaign came to expect, and what Republican Steve Schmidt said about the ongoing disaster that is the Trump administration:

"From a personnel perspective, we've never quite seen the assemblage of crooks, just outright weirdos, wife beaters, drunk drivers, complete and total incompetents that's been assembled."

Ronny Jackson is just another one of Trump's endless blunders in his endlessly ineffectual governing.

From Frank Bruni:

"There's draining the swamp, there's disrupting the status quo, and then there's simply being lazy and perverse. The last characterizes Trump's approach to government.  He has somehow convinced himself that unconventional C.V.s are bold choices, when often they are just reckless gambles.  He has told himself that the shallow , evaporating pool of people keen to work for him are fearless visionaries, when sometimes they're just feckless vagabonds."

Ronny is on his way out. Who will #45 nominate next? Sargent Bilko?

I don't understand.
President Happy Hands has made it a point to express his desire for quality leadership at the VA.

It doesn't fit that he would have a qualified head (imagine that) resign and be replaced by an unqualified nominee who has
problems with booze and prescription drugs.

Wait, let me rethink that.

Ducky, the trolls are posting comments saying President Obama praised Jackson, but he didn't suggest that Jackson head the Department of Veterans Affairs, a position Jackson is totally unqualified to head.

FAUX NOOZ probably reported this and the wingnut trolls make sure they spread it around to liberal blogs as if that makes Trump's choice for VA head okay. They just can't think things through and understand what a fool Trump is.

Only if Don Corleone isn't available.

Even Basil Fawlty might get offered the job, except he's not rich.

I'd go with maybe Keith Richards.

I'll go with Dr. Michael Todd Schulenburg.

As is the norm you are guilty and we will judge you on the rumor. If I remember this was obama the greats physician and now they are saying he was not any good, how can that be.

Our veterans deserve better than a political hack running the VA administration. Not sure it should be a physician but maybe an outsider who can get something done instead of being a political hack for any administration.
Why not close all the VA's and go to private health care for all vets. They would get better care and the taxpayer would save money because the VA's are a massive government blunder providing mediocre care at exorbitant prices. For every patient there are 10 bureaucrats administering a failed system.

Shaw Kenawe said...

skudrunner, for-profit health care is and has been a disaster. You've forgotten about people who have been denied coverage for pre-existing conditions? We're the only advanced country that tries to profit from people's disasters. I'm for single-payer for everyone and free health care for our vetrans.

Also, you didn't disappoint by bringing in President Obama (who did NOT nominate Jackson to head any federal agency, nevermind the V.A). You sound like Trump, blaming President Obama for everything Trump bungles.

Kevin Robbins said...

Obama didn't choose a Jackson to run the VA. If he had, he'd have at least vetted him. No veterans group wants the VA privatized, and with good reason.

Ray said...

Who's guilty of what now skud?

skudrunner said...

Ms Shaw, I don't know how many many times have you been treated in a VA but the experience is less than efficient. When anything is run by bureaucrats, which the VA is full of, it is a costly, inefficient mess. How many vets have died because of a poor run system.

I agree our healthcare system is broken but single payer is far from the answer. Making rates and outcomes available would be a good start.
A tired healthcare system would work but there is to much money being paid to our elected crooks to get meaningful reform, much like our tax system. Money talks and the lobbyists have more than enough to buy votes.
I Never said obama the great chose him all I said is he was the white house physician for obama.
At this point what does it matter because he was found guilty by rumor and media hype and is gone

Shaw, Shaw, Shaw... you know Jackson has been slimed. He's an honorable guy who is being done in by the swamp and deep state.

There is no chance, in the minds of many Trumpians that any of Trumps nominees are compromised and that includes the ones like Flynn who have pleaded guilty. In their minds, it's all an unfair witch hunt designed to derail a legitimately elected president from accomplishing his agenda.

Skud is probably not in that camp. In fact, I've seen him knock trump and the GOP down a few pegs occasionally... but he is a both siderist of the "there are many good people there" type.

BTW... here's a question... when you post the latest update on the number of officials who have already left the admin, are you going to include and Honorable Mention section for folks like Jackson? Seriously, I've not seen struggles like this to get nominees confirmed since Clinton struggled with the AG position.

Deanter said...

Every other advanced country has some form of government-guaranteed universal coverage (whether single payer or not). Most of them have better overall health outcomes for the population, and all spend less per capita, than the inefficient American system.

Dave, Trump is from the business world not the political world where incompetence is accepted as a way of like. In the business world you either perform or you walk. Personally I'm not surprised at the turn over around Trump

skudrunner said...

RN, The VA's are training grounds using vets as their subjects. Overall they provide adequate care at exorbitant costs. Old outdated facilities with more bureaucrats than medical staff and patients. Look at Phoenix, Omaha just to name two. If the goal is to provide healthcare for Vets than turn it over to the private sector, close all the VA's and provide better care for less money. Sure there are a few examples of good care just not many.

As to the Revs comments about Jackson. There is no reason to wait for any proof because a rumor will have the same effect, trial by media and he was proven guilty.

Anonymous either doesn't read very deeply into the backgrounds of the Trump appointees, or Anon refuses to face the truth.

And the truth is that many of #45's cabinet picks are from the business world, and they are people who know nothing about the vast organizations that #45 chose them to head.

Trump himself has a lousy record in business with his failed casinos, university, airline, steaks, wine, real estate, etc. Since #45 won't release his tax returns, we can assume he's not as wealthy as he's claimed to be.

Kevin Robbins said...

Shaw, don't know if you watched Fox and Friend yesterday. Highly recommended. It's very clear that Michael Cohen was in business. Trump made that clear in some variation of Tourette's syndrome. The Fox idiots on the couch looked as concerned as the rest of us about his lack of sanity.

skudrunner said...

Trump has burned through a lot of appointees but this is not unexpected. He is not a politician and does not owe anyone anything so he will burn through people with conflicting egos. As far as getting things done it is better to have experience than rely on theory. There was a president who appointed friends or academician's who have no experience and therefore accomplished very little.

The media downplays his accomplishments with China, Our economy, N&S Korea, International trade, putting America't interests first instead of leading from behind.
As a person he is pond scum but he does have some impressive accomplishments. If you are in business you are measured by your accomplishments, if you are not you are measured how nice you are.
I would rather have a beer with BHO but have business dealings with DJT.

Skud... are you willing to give HRC the same grace as you argue for Mr Jackson? No, he’s not been convicted of anything, and neither had Hillary.

But in her case, no matter, she’s guilty of all sorts of crimes, including murder.

For anyone who opposed HRC to argue that GOP folks are being dropped on unoriven charges is the very def of hubris...

I didn't say you didn't need to be on your toe with any business dealings with anyone. A handshake is no longer a valid reason to do business with someone.

I did notice a theme in your examples, Allege. Business is messy and there are all kinds of crooks. We need look no further than our elected elite to find corruption on a massive scale but they just smile and collect because they know they will get away with it. They can steal millions and go on about their business but don't let them have an affair 20 years ago because they will be hung by the non journalists talking heads.

Skud, my friend, I notice in your reply on #45's crooked business dealings that you make excuses for him. You are aware, I'm sure, that business people can be and often are honest and trustworthy. I've dealt with many myself. Trump is not one of them. He's a scumbag where it comes to paying for services rendered. But Goopers will forever overlook or make excuses because he recently put an "R" after his sordid name. That's a shame and that's what's known as situational ethics. Those are what the so-called Xtian Evangelicals practice by support the immoral pig in the White House. SAD!

We forks, knives, and spoons detest "him" foreign policies too. He's a forkin' embarrassment to this once great nation.

We're not bitter, we're woke. As is a majority of Americans. People like "Anonymous" are oblivious to the havoc and chaos #45 has brought to the U.S.

Policies? Let's take his "tax cuts for the forgotten" -- a domestic policy, for example:

TRUMP’S TAX CUTS DIDN’T BENEFIT U.S. WORKERS, MADE RICH COMPANIES RICHER, ANALYSIS FINDS

And this for his foreign policy, for example:
