"Mr. President, you stink." -- Neil Cavuto, Fox News

The propaganda arm of the GOP, FAUX NOOZ, turns against President Spanky:

Fox News host Neil Cavuto had some harsh words for Donald Trump on Thursday:

"Mr. President, you stink."

[Cavuto]...listed some of Trump’s worst lies and misstatements, including claiming there was widespread voter fraud in the 2016 election and the recent revelation that he repaid his personal lawyer Michael Cohen for $130,000 in hush money given to porn star Stephanie Clifford, known as Stormy Daniels, after he’d repeatedly denied knowing about the situation.

“How can you drain the swamp if you’re the one that keeps muddying the water?” Cavuto asked.

“You didn’t know about that $130,000 payment to a porn star until you did.” Cavuto, one of the few hosts on Fox News who calls out the president, said Trump cannot criticize the press for reporting “fake news” when he repeatedly makes false statements without correction.

Paul Waldman's take on Ghouliani's truth bomb:

Bless you, Rudy Giuliani, you glorious fool.

This is where we are: When one of the president's lawyers tells the truth, it's blockbuster news. That's what happened Wednesday night when Giuliani, a relative newcomer to President Trump's ever-rotating legal team, went on Hannity for what should have been another softball interview.

To everyone's surprise, Giuliani announced that President Trump reimbursed his attorney Michael Cohen the $130,000 Stephanie Clifford (a.k.a. Stormy Daniels) was paid to keep silent about an affair she says she had with Trump. Which means that Giuliani admitted that Trump lied about this, the White House lied about it, and Cohen didn't exactly lie about it, but carefully chose his words to fool everyone into thinking something that was false.

Good work, Rudy!

None of this will have any affect on his worshipping 30 percenters. They will continue to support their mendacious serial adulterer, while slandering Robert Mueller, a man of impeccable integrity and personal honor.

#45 represents the current GOP's values:

"Presumably the calculation of Team Trump is that his base exacts no cost for even the baldest of lies, even one offered as the final you-can-believe-me truth after months of prevarication." --Harry Litman, NYTimes

So far, Giuliani has confirmed both Comey and Stormy’s statements. An indictment for Obstruction of Justice just got closer.

Shaw... in regards to your banner...

It is possible that DJT paid the hush money to Daniels, even if no sex happened between the two, in response to a threat of public extortion. In a sense, hush money, in his mind, to keep her from spreading a false story that would embarrass his family.

Probable? Doubtful, but in the realm of possible.

If it was a Dem president, we might believe it to be so.

Dave, I'll believe it is possible regarding tRump when pigs fly.

Dave Miller said...

Les... I share your conviction on this. My worry is essentially this...

Are the Dems only running on "Trump is bad"? I've not seen any other visible plan from the party. What happens, as Jeff Greenfield asked recently on Politico, if Trump succeeds and we get peace in Korea? Add that to a humming economy, the lowest unemployment numbers in a generation AND people still pissed at their politicians.

Will the Dems say yes, it's good, but we can do even better?

Sure they guy is a cad, a liar, maybe even in the mind of some, the spawn of Satan, but what if gets results? Will America vote him out because they do not like his style?

That's a big question...

Who would have thunk it? A rich guy in NYC boinking a porno star and them giving her a couple bucks!

Yes, Anonymous @2:08, who would have "thunk" that 66 million Americans, mostly Evangelicals, would be fine with a man who cheated on all 3 wives, and who cheated with a porn star on the mistress he was boinking after Wifie #3 gave birth to his 5th child. Also, #45's a monumental lying sack of lying weasels.

It's an interesting question, isn't it, Dave. Should Americans keep a lying, cheating, adulterous con-man of a scoundrel because it looks like the economy is great (thanks to Mr. Obama), and we don't know about NoKo and SoKo outcomes yet?

Does decency, probity, dignity matter in our leaders anymore? Or is any miscreant justified to lead us as long as he or she appears to be doing the country well? Will we lose our moral compass if we allow a thoroughly degenerate rapscallion to lull this once great country into believing we can wallow in a pig stye with Trump and spread economic deoderizer around so that enough people will ignore the stench?

Does it matter?

Dave, Stormy claimed that she and #45 had sex. I believe her. I never believe anything #45 says, he's a pathological liar.

Dave Miller said...

Shaw... yes, it is indeed an interesting question.

Anon is correct though in his/her reading of the situation. I'm not surprised at all that a guy with a ton of money and two previous broken marriages cheated on his third wife. And as such, I'm also not surprised at the lengths at which someone will go to cover that up to avoid public embarrassment and a potentially humiliating third failed marriage.

I'm not even surprised that Republicans and conservatives in general, who have since Reagan, extolled family values, would now eschew those values in service of winning the White House. After all, it is politics.

What does surprise me is an inability or unwillingness to admit that that is what they did. After all, these are the people who said Pres Clinton should resign because he sullied the office of the presidency and made the presidency and America a laughingstock among our allies.

It really only leaves two questions... were they wrong when they made those accusations against Pres Clinton? Or, were the values they supposedly supported fungible based on the letter, R or D, after their name.

BTW... I too believe Stormy...

Too rich and a little of the specific topic, but let's consider it generally Trumpish...

FLOTUS Melania is announcing her “Be Best” awareness campaign will focus on challenges that children face, particularly bullying on social media, health and opioid abuse.

There are two ironies here...

One, how does she move her agenda forward when her husband is guilty of Cyber Bullying everyday he tweets? is her husband going all Charles Barkley and claiming he "is not a role model" either?

Two... with her news conference today, FLOTUS has now equalled the news conference output of her husband DJT, who must be scared of the media and their tough questions. I mean, why else would he avoid them if not for fear of being held accountable or having to actually tell the truth.

He doesn't deserve her, that's for sure.

Unless the democrats put forward a realistically winnable agenda, unite behind it, field a candidate that is electable as well as smart and qualified, tRump and the tRumpian agenda will be around for another 6 1/2 years.

Folks always tend to vote their wallets and pocketbooks. As Bill Clinton said, "it's the economy stupid".

Les Carpenter said...

I'm not saying anyone is stupid by quoting WJC, but it does I think highlight the truth.

Morals, ethics, and principles do matter Shaw, but, they don't feed and clothe folks. Nor do they pay for entertainment or vacations. Just sayin...

Ms.Shaw, you must sleep well knowing you are so far superior to the Americans who put Trump in the oval office.

Oh Anonymous, Dear, anyone with a functioning brain, which includes but is not limited to, toddlers, minke whales, and zebras, rightly feel superior to anyone who voted for the canker-brained moron currently defiling the White House.

It was James Carville who coined "it's the economy stupid," Clinton never said it.

Dave, Trump was a private citizen...Clinton was doing his thing in the oval office. I think you'd have to admit that's a bit different

With respect to the First Lady's Be Best initiative Dave. Perhaps the First Lady will find a classy way to send the message Don't Be Like My Husband.

Well, that seals the deal, I guess we are deplorable after all

Who in any audience believes any of trumps wives married him because he is a stand up guy. They knew he was a sleaze bag but he is a very rich sleaze bag and they traded luxury for faithfulness and class. Melania knew what she was getting and she was OK with it as was Maples.
WJC was a real stand up guy so I can understand everyone rallying around him.

I don't believe djt will have a second term because I hope the GOP will anoint a more sane leader. The Democrats are still all about give away's and like RN said, it is all about your wallet. If the dems want to win they need to find a more centralist candidate instead of some hack who only cares about free stuff and the government knows best.

Here's a typical wingnut excusing Trump's morally piggish behavior because it didn't happen in the White House. It's like someone reflecting on the sexual abuse of a child in a private home -- at least it didn't happen behind the church altar -- "I think you'd have to admit that's a bit different..."

Wingnuts have no moral grounding in the Age of Trump the Pig.

Dave Miller said...

Anon... Trump was morally compromised by previous GOP standards before he got to the WH. By their previous proclamations, he was incapable of being a good president and/or role model for young Americans.

It turns out they were right, but that will not be admitted until he’s gone and they need a reason to vote against a DEM.

I hear what you’re saying about the location of what Clinton did as opposed to Trump. In fact I hear that a lot from many of my friends. But I’m talking about how the office has been embarrsssed by Trump.

Conservatives for years, until Trump lately, felt that people should respect the Presidency. It was a regular talking point of theirs.

Why are we not hearing that anymore?

I believe it’s because to speak of that would be to lay bare the compromise many have made to ensure the survival of the Trump Presidency.

Am I wrong?

Jerry Critter said...

Republicans think Obama did not respect the presidency because he wore a tan suit. My, how things have changed!

Les Carpenter said...

I can say I did not agree with Obama on several policy and philosophical issues. But I respected him because HE respected ALL the people he was elected to serve. He also repected the office he held and our American institutions And values. He also represented America as any HONORABLE man would. tRump does's none of the above. Therefore tRump is NOT deserving of respect IMO.
