This is a great day for America. Now what stupid things you did in the sixth grade will haunt you the rest of your life.
How many of our elected elite from either party does not have a mistake in their past. I will admit I was not always pure of thought and had lust in my mind at times but so did Jimmy C.

All Kav has to do is demand an FBI investigation. All Grassley has to do is ask Pres trump to order an investigation.

Mark Judge is an eye witness whose testimony can be compelled.

Why can't that happen.

Kav won't even answer the question as to whether he believes an eye witness should be called to testify.

He’s gonna be confirmed. Period. The Dems lost the election...

Did you notice that Rachel Mitchell, the female prosecutor, suddenly vanished? Apparently she found the day on Brett's calendar that might be the day he tried to rape Christine Ford. According to Chris Hayes, Mitchell was told to get lost after asking about July 1st, 1982. A day Gang Bang Brett wrote on his calendar that he was meeting with everyone who Christine Ford said was there (when Gang Bang Brett sexually assaulted her) for "skis" (AKA brewskis, AKA beers). Maybe the authorities should check out that house and see if it matches Ford's description?

This hearing was a total joke. Gang Bang Brett jettisoned any illusion of impariatily with his opening partisan rant. He lied and she told the truth. Gang Bang Brett should be prosecuted, not elevated to the Supreme Court. After a very thorough investigation, of course. There are clearly more facts to uncover.

skudrunner, you've reduced attempted rape to something stupid a child did in sixth grade. I have news for you, they're not the same thing. Ask any female who's been sexually assaulted by a 17 year old. Ask Dr. Ford who had TWO 17 year olds jump on her and tried to remove her clothing while covering her mouth so she couldn't scream. Stop reducing that attack to some childish horse play. They're not the same thing. And we women are sick and tired of men and boys making light of what it really is: SEXUAL ASSAULT AND ATTEMPTED RAPE.

Dave, I wish winning an election were the criterion for appointing a Supreme. Apparently the Goopers disagree. That applies only when THEY win elections. They play dirty, and then expect their opponents to honor their dirty plays. Why should the Dems roll over and pretend they didn't dishonor the process of appointing a Supreme?

Dervish, She was totally believable; he came off as a spoiled, angry frat boy.

I marvel at how this process, if you can call it that, was nothing more than an emotional she said he said exercise. Something one would expect to see in a soap opera.

As Dave noted above, and I have echoed here and elsewhere, the logical and proper process would be to delay confirmation, begin an FBI investigation into the specific allegations, and only after conclusion of a thorough FBI investigation, when ALL the discernable facts are in, vote for or against confirmation.

Unfortunately neither tRump or the republican power base wants to arrive at the truth. Agenda is more important than truth. It is as if they do not care one iota how rushing this confirmation will leave a stain on the SCOTUS.

Anyone listening to Thursday's proceeding with a clear head, free from predetermined bias, can find credible testimony from BOTH Ford and Kavanaugh. Which is why the ONLY proper solution is a full and complete FBI investigation. The FBI is non partisan. Gathering information that eventually leads to the Senate making a desicion based on a full picture is the only rational approach.

It won't happen.

I say, Merritt Garland. Now, if that's seen as tit for tat, then so be it.
Also, rape and attempted rape is not a joke. It took
-great courage for Dr. Ford to come forward and speak in an ugly process, which really does resemble another rape..Who would want to relive that over again?

Someone once told me, the tone of an organization is set at the top, by its leaders.
So for the Pu**yGrabber-In-Chief, this is no big thing.. .

I do think that Mr Kavanaugh should be confirmed,...and then promptly arrested for rape and attempted rape. I don't think the statute of
limitations expired in the state where this crime
occurred...and when convicted, Mr Kavanaugh can become truly educated on what rape really is, and how it damages people, when he becomes cellmates with Big Bubba, and Tyrone. I would expect Mr Kavanaugh's education to be blunt and through, as he would become open to new things....but being on the Supreme Court should not be one of those new things...

Skud... I think you, and millions of other folks have misunderstood the issue. No thanks to the Dems.

If Kav had copped to the "I was a stupid kid and have no recollection but if I did I'm incredibly sorry" defense, he'd have been fine.

As the GOP was proud to say during the Clinton impeachment, it wasn't what Clinton did, it was the lie trying to cover it up.

As I wrote on my blog yesterday, actions speak louder than words. The actions of the Republican Judiciary Committee and Kavanaugh show they are lying.

Kavanaugh has already proven he has lied under oath, before all these accusations of sexual abuse surfaced.

Kavanaugh's performance yesterday alone is enough to show he does not have the temperament to be an associate Justice of the Supreme Court. Sarcasm, anger, screaming, and insults is not a response by a professional, even for these kind of allegations. Being a spoiled brat is not what we need on the Supreme court.

It's stunning how the behavior of Kavanaugh yesterday is exactly what Trump wanted and was exactly how Trump himself would have acted.

As Americans watch this farce, it's no wonder apathy keeps millions away from the polls and getting involved in our processes of government.

Change is in the air and it will start in a few weeks as Americans go to the voting machines.

IMNHO the above is a juvenile, irrational, and foolish. It IS, every bit as much the problem as is tRump anmd the reThuglicans. perhaps YOU ae trying to keep up with their BS?

Rev. Maybe if frankenstein did not hold on to the letter for six weeks and used it solely for political purposes and FBI investigation could have been completed. Remember what chuckie said, do everything you can to delay this confirmation and she tried her best.

Shaw Kenawe said...

RN, the American Bar Association agree with you. And so do I.

American Bar Association: Delay Kavanaugh until FBI investigates assault allegations

It appears that the Goopers are going to jam this nomination through despite the testimony by Dr. Ford. This is an egregious maneuver by the GOP Judiciary Committee and the lackeys who serve on it. A disgrace that will haunt them forever.

Shaw Kenawe said...

Anonymous, Yes. Kavanaugh is obviously unfit for the SCOTUS because like the man who nominated him, President Unindicted Co-Conspirator, he's an obvious liar and dissembler who sound very much like a dry drunk.

Dave Miller said...

Skud... can someone acknowledge that the Dems played nasty politics, just as the GOP did with Garland, and still have problems with how the GOP and Kav are handling this?

Yes, the Dems overplayed and screwed this up. That does not mean the allegations are false. It also shouldn't mean the the allegations should not be investigated, as may now happen as both Flake and Murkowski have said they will oppose the nomination without further investigation.

Why wouldn't people want the FBI to investigate? Even with the time it will take, if Kav is cleared, there will still be plenty of time to confirm him before the mid terms.

The GOP reticence reminds me of some GOP AG's across the land that argue against exculpatory DNA evidence based on the evidence coming in too late. Isn't getting at the truth the most important thing, even if how we get there sucks?

That's where I think we are.

Rational Nation says that I am: "juvenile, irrational, and foolish".
Well.....
Merritt Garland was picked by President Obama to be on the Supreme Court.

Mitch O'Connell said words to the effect that it was one of his greatest achievements
to deny a sitting president of his right to choose a Justice to sit on the SC.

President Trump has picked a man to be the next SC Justice, who said that he NEVER had sex
while he was in school, now has 2 women accusing him of rape and other sex assault offenses.
A huge section of his history and rulings, etc. has been put off limits, and made unavailable
to those making the decision for the fitness of this man to sit on the SC.
Mitch O'Connell said that this man WILL be confirmed as one of the next Justice to the SC.

And RN says that I am being "juvenile, irrational, and foolish", and every bit
a part of the problem as Trump himself.

Well, sorry, RN. I can't keep up with these elected officials I mentioned above. They're raising
being juvenile, irrational and foolish to new heights, or, lows...every day...I just can't compete with that.
So sorry.

But that's me just being juvenile, irrational, and foolish, again.

Probably no more juvenile, irrational or foolish than a man clearly
unfit for the office of POTUS trying to INSTALL another man unfit
for high office, and attempting to keep his background secret,
even as that same SC nominee lies through his teeth
about his background...

Les Carpenter said...

Yup.

I agree that tRump is JUVENILE, irrational, and foolish. Recent events INDICATE the SCOTUS nominee is the same. But, do WE have to lower ourselves to their JUVENILE, irrational, and foolish level to keep up?

You need not respond.
