I'm just not willing to go as far as the GOP partisans have and call people with whom we have deep disagreements, UnAmerican.

Misguided, hypocrites, wrong, extreme, partisan, etc., etc., but UnAmerican?

I get it, but I can't do it.

I wonder if President Lincoln thought people from the south, who obviously disagreed with him, were UnAmerican?

The hypocrite party has gone all-in on the criminal orange blob. I seriously don't think anything would make them put our nation over their sick ideology, at this point.

Seen on a Rabid Right Wing blog:

"The linked article is interesting and I think that now that 2 Democrat senators are openly talking about leaving the Democrat party for the Republican party, more may go."

Are these people really that stupid? YES! First off, Jeff Van Drew is a US Rep. from New Jersey, he's NOT a US Senator! And the other guy is a Pennsylvania STATE senator! So the gloating about the impeachment "backfiring" is dumb. Van Drew's defection will NOT affect the House impeachment vote and the STATE senator from Penn. has nothing to do with it at all.

Meanwhile Justin Amash who approves of Trump's impeachment, left the GOP months ago by switching to Independent.

Also, many Republicans have decided to drop out rather then run for re-election. The GOP is having a worse time keeping its people.

Shaw Kenawe said...

Dave, if you re-read the title, it says "anti-American," not UnAmerican -- a difference. But it could be seen as unAmerican as well and here's why:

In this particular caseanit-American means against the will of the American people. The majority of the American people support the impeachment and removal of Trump. The Senate GOPers won't even look at the evidence that supports the impeachment charges. That is anti-American IMO, because it goes against our American system of checks and balances and the integrity of a Congressional judicial process. What would you think if the same Republican Senators said they would convict a president without looking at any evidence. What they're doing is plain wrong, thumbing their nose at a co-equal branch of our government, thereby giving imperial, really kingly power to a POTUS. If Trump and the GOP get away with this, they will have unalterably changed our system of government.

It's anti-American and a blight on our country.

It's not a matter of "disagreement" in this particular case; it's a matter of what is demanded by our Constitution. The Congress of the US has the Constitutional duty to bring articles of impeachment forward and the Senate must then look at the evidence and decide.

The Republican Senate is ignoring this and bragging about making their decision to acquit without looking at the evidence.

Shame on them and their disrespect for the rule of law and our system of government.

Shaw Kenawe said...

Ray, still wasting your precious time reading their confused and uninformed opinions?
Why? If they're so lazy that they didn't bother to note if the Democrat changing party was a US Rep. or a US Senator, their opinion on this matter is worthless. They just talk to each other and nod their empty little heads in agreement: "DemocRATS BAD! Trump GOOD! LOL!

Shaw Kenawe said...

BlueBull, see my answer to Dave Miller. It's not a matter of disagreement, the GOP is breaking our laws, just like their president.

So Dave, is that Anti-American or American way of justice? Asking for a friend.

Dave Miller said...

Fed up... Lindsey, like a lot of politician's is Lindsey. Or as some might say, he was for impeachment [Clinton] and integrity before he was against it [Trump].

Look, I'm pretty sure we can look around the thoughts and words from both Dems and the GOP as they've related to the Clinton and Trump impeachments and see all sorts of people making upside down, through the looking glass changes of views.

Even Speaker Pelosi is guilty of that as she said impeachment could and should only go forward if it was bi-partisan.

Look, would the US better off without Donald Trump as President? I believe it, and we would. But what the Dems are doing is going to, IMHO, strengthen DJT's hand and help lead to his reelection. Let's remember, it's not about all the votes. It's about all the votes in some of the states.

Has DJT done anything illegal? We can charge him. But can we convict him? Probably not.

And at the end of the day, that's all that matters. If you're gonna swing big, you better not miss...

Dave "Has DJT done anything illegal? We can charge him. But can we convict him? Probably not."

We know Trump has done a lot of illegal things. Trump himself has been open about that and admitted to them. As have his aides, Giuliani and Mulvaney. So yes, he's broken the law.

You seem to be suggesting that when a president breaks the law, he should be brought to justice ONLY if Congress can convict him. If we Americans know that the Senate will not convict a law-breaking president, then we should just let him get away with his crimes.

I don't believe you really think that is how we should deal with this.

It is proper and just for the House to bring charges against a president who has broken more than one law. The Mueller Report describes his obstruction of justice, and the Ukraine telephone transcript shows Trump seeking the help of a foreign government to interfere in our elections to benefit himself.

Those are serious crimes.

Either we believe in the rule of law or we don't. To not pursue this because the GOPers in the Senate are partisan hacks who will allow the president to get away with his crimes is not how a country of laws not men deals with a corrupt president. And he is corrupt in every sense of the word.

He will be charged with crimes against America. If the GOP Senators let him walk away from his malfeasance of office and high crimes and misdemeanors, that's on their record. But the Democrats will have stood up for America and her Constitution.

They will be remembered for their patriotism and the GOP Senators will be remembered for their betrayal of their oaths of office -- their betrayal of America.

Shaw Kenawe said...

Also, Dave, Pelosi was not for impeachment BEFORE the Ukranian scandal was revealed. She had no choice but to do what she did, bi-partisan agreement or not. She and the Democrats did the proper, lawful thing.

"The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice." This is a truth.

Shaw Kenawe said...

I also understand that the Democrats acquitted Clinton at his Senate trial (also some Republicans voted for acquittal.)

But remember this: Clinton betrayed his wife and lied under oath about it. He did not use his power of the presidency to get a country to interfere in American elections. What Clinton did was sordid and wrong, but HE DID NOT BETRAY HIS OATH OF OFFICE by having his sexy time with Lewinsky, he betrayed his wife and his marital vows.

What Trump did is far, far more dangerous, and when he gets acquitted, he will do more to betray America. Like Clinton, he has no fidelity to his wife, but he also has none for America. I think that's worse.

Dear Naive Anonymous,

We do not "put aside" a man who's cheated on all of his wives, and cheated on his 3rd wife with a porn star and playmate and then during his campaign for the presidency, got his personal lawyer to illegally pay those two to keep quiet about it (a violation of a campaign finance law).

We do not "put aside" a man who conned people out of money with his fake Trump U., and then was ordered to pay $25 million by the court for his dirty scam. He just recently was ordered by the court to pay $2 million for stealing from his own charitable foundation.

He bragged about grabbing women's pussies, he's been accused of sexual assault and harassment by 20+ women, and of rape of a child.

He promsied he'd build a wall and make Mexico pay for it. The wall is not being built, and Mexico is not paying for it.

He promised he'd repeal and replace the ACA and give America something beter and cheaper. He lied about that too. There is no repeal and replace.

He promised to get rid of the deficit in 8 years; he's exploded it and it's the highest it's been in the history of this country.

His tax cuts benefitted the top 1% he made them permanent, while the meager tax cuts for the middle class will end. The majority of Americans did not benefit as greatly as the top 1% -- his demographic. He gave himself a HUUUUUUGE tax break.

His trade wars have bankrupted farmers and the subsidies he's given to some of the farmers cost more than Obama's bail-outs to the car manufacturers in 2009, and the car manufactuerers paid those back, the farmers will not. And that was YOUR money Trump took to pay for his trade wars.

His deregulation of enviornmental policies has set this country back years and re-polluted our rivers, streams, and air.

He pulled out of the Pair Climate Agreement, and America is THE ONLY ADVANCED COUNTRY not in it.

He pulled out of the Iran Nuclear Accord when his own people stated Iran was compliant.

He did NOT denuclearize North Korea, and KJU is still stesting his weapons when Trump said he stopped him.

Trump bragged that he would make America respected again because people around the world were laughing at her.

TRUMP WAS literally LAUGHED OFF A CONTINENT. World leaders think he's a pathetic fool.

His own Secy. of State Tillerson called him a fking moron, Mattis and Kelly, his close advisores called him stupid.

Trump's personal lawyer is in jail and his current personal lalwyer is under criminal investigation. Trump's campaign manager is in jail, his close campaign advisor, Roger Stone, whom he's known for years and years is a convicted felon, Mike Flynn, his hand-picked NSA is awaiting sentencing for his felonies. Trump is being investigated for fraud and other crimes by the SDNY.

The above should answer your damn-fool question of why a majority of the American people dislike Trump with such fervor.

He's a horrible human being and an incompetent, malignant narcissist who has betrayed America and will be forever known as the worst POTUS America ever was cursed with.

Shaw Kenawe said...

Oh, excuse me, I left this out:

Trump is only the THIRD POTUS in America's history who will be impeached for betraying America.

Whether he's acquitted or not; that is his legacy and will be forever in American history as the crook who got impeached, but excused by a corrupt Republcan Senate.

skudrunner said...

You place a lot of faith in polls. It is split at best and if you recall it was not split on who will win the presidency in 2016 so polls can be fallible.

Pelosi was all for impeachment since she was crowned she just didn't know for what. The dems tried to pass an impeachment resolution in December 2017. Now they are going at it again. "What trump did is far more dangerous", in what way? Is it more dangerous than the swell guy saying he would have more latitude to bargain with russia after the elections. Of course russia was so yesterday at the time. JFK, LBJ, WJC, DJT none had fidelity toward their spouse so if we only elect morally upstanding individuals we need to consider the Pope but he has issues as well just not with a spouse.

I have little doubt the dems will vote impeachment and little doubt he will not leave office. Total waste of time and money but I guess if you can't beat em impeach em. This does seem to be an effort to mask the worthless performance of all our elected elite. What have they done for you lately?

Shaw Kenawe said...

skud: "Pelosi was all for impeachment since she was crowned she just didn't know for what"

That's not true.

What Trump did was betray America. Clinton betrayed his wife.

Yes, it's true the Dems supported other adulterous presidents. But you forget that the holier-than-thou Repubs are the party of "family CHRISTIAN values." As far as I know, banging porn stars and playmates after your 3rd wife gives birth to your 5th child isn't exactly a Christian family value, is it. That's why we laugh at the so-called Evangelicals who support Trump: He's everything they'd despise in any other human being, except he's one of them, so who cares about the 10 Commandments when a moral pig is the head of your party? Eh?

Good luck to you and the GOP for backing a corrupt, dirty POTUS.

Yeah. And they're a minority. A majority of Americans think Trump stinks.

He's never been able to break 50% approval since he was elected. Not even in the so-called "honeymoon" period when presidents have their highest approval.

Trump has hovered in the middle to low 40s and even into the 30s during his disastrous and hideious presidency.

Those are facts, Anonymous, not opinions. Trump is popular with a minority of Americans.

He's weak, weak, weak. And the world knows it.

SK: skud, I'm sure you willfully don't remember that 2011 was only 2 years after the worst financial crisis in America since the Depression. Of course not. And you also don't remember that Mitch McConnell vowed to sabotage ANYTHING President Obama proposed to help the recovery. So your flashback really doesn't cut it, since Trump inherited a recovered economy that was on an upward trajectory. Again, poor example trying to do another of your "whataboutism" on President Obama.

skud: "Maybe if both sides would do what they are elected to do and pass USMCA, infrastructure, immigration reform, budget deficit reform (which will never happen)it would help farmers."

SK: Again, skud, willful ignorance is very not accepted. The Democrats in the House have passed over 200 bills, many of them addressing your items. The Do-Nothing Trumpublicans, and Moscow Mitch in particular, are the ones to blame here.

skud: "Oh I forgot, they only care about impeaching trump and have devoted three years non stop in achieving it. At least the democrats have the media on their side to hide their incompetence."

SK: Those "incompetent" Democrats have Trump by his cajones and he will be impeached and forever remembered as a corrupt, criminal president supported by equally corrupt Republicans. Trump's legacy will be ignominy, which he so richly deserves.

Farm bankruptcies are at their highest point since the big crash after the Great Recession. Here's what Business Insider said about some farm communities...

"Farm bankruptcies rose to or above decade-highs this year in Iowa, Kansas, Maryland, Minnesota, Nebraska, New Hampshire, South Dakota, Wisconsin and West Virginia, according to the federation."

Now. let's look at what's helping reduce the pain for farmers... are you ready for it?

SUBSIDIES... or direct payments from the Federal Government and a GOP Admin.

And here all this time I thought the GOP and their followers hated socialism and government handouts. Or is that only true when it helps people who vote for the DEMS? Why do these farmers have to rely on government help? Aren't they able bodied people? Can't they go get a job?

Please conservatives, tell us why all the taxes us libs pay should go to support people and businesses that need bailouts. You were against it in 2008 and 2009, but now?

Crickets...

Yes,Anonymous, you're correct in assuming Trump will be acquitted by the Senate majority Republicans. That's because like you, they don't care about America's laws or values. That's no reflection on the Democrats, they're doing what is correct.

Trump will be acquitted, but he will have a black mark next to his name forever.

You seem awfully sure of Trump's victory in 2020. That's a long way off. I'm still remembering the blue tsunami wave that took over the House in 2018, and the number of Democrats who beat Republicans in very red states just recently. I'm remembering Kentucky, for example.

As of December 16, 2019, 33 US Representatives said they will not seek re-election to their U.S. House seats.

9 Democratic members of the U.S. House
24 Republican members of the U.S. House

As long as gerrymandering is in place, the Trumpublicans will keep their majorities in swing states. That and, with the help of foreign governments who are no friends of America, it is possible, through fraud, for Trump to win.

For people like you, Anon, winning isn't everything; it's the ONLY thing. For the rest of us, the preservation of our democratic republic is more important.
