General John Kelly: "He said that, in his opinion, Mr. Trump met the definition of a fascist, would govern like a dictator if allowed, and had no understanding of the Constitution or the concept of rule of law."

RN It appears lots more are on board for Trump's second impeachment.

McConnell, Pence, Cheney, and the rest of the Republicans in Congress now know that Trump would happily have watched them get slaughtered by the mob as part of his effort to overthrow the government and establish a personal dictatorship -- a half-assed, bumbling effort, but that's what he was trying to do. The realization that you just narrowly escaped being horribly murdered does tend to concentrate the mind. They may not care about ordinary Americans or even about democracy, but they certainly care about their own lives.

Donald Trump is the first president to lose the popular vote twice and to be impeached twice.

Infidel753, and yet you can visit any number of far right blogs and read how they dismiss what happened on January 6. One described it as a "tiny bit of rowdiness."

Unfortunately, there are millions of people like that in this country who would have no problem with Trump overthrowing the government and installing himself as the Dictator-in-Chief. Those people are, IMO, more dangerous and frightening than Trump.

Trump will be gone; his name will be forever associated with crimes against the United States, but his cultists will still be here. This is what keeps me awake at night.

If it was a tiny bit of rowdiness as some state then so was Minneapolis, Portland, Kenosha, Seattle and all the other cities that were attacked. He should have handled it different because he was culpable but as a country we gain nothing by impeaching him. The democrats have tried to impeachment him since he made his announcement on the escalator and they will finally get their wish. Maybe, but I doubt it, our elected elite will start to govern for the people not just themselves.

Trump ruined the republican party for several years. Now maybe people will realize we need an independent party who is more about the good of the country instead of the good of the party.
