And true spirituality is understanding the difference.

So, is this Zen, or Karma?

"We can’t have someone in the Oval Office who doesn’t understand the meaning of the word confidential or classified... One of the first things we must do is to enforce all classification rules and to enforce all laws relating to the handling of classified information.”

Any guesses on the author?

True, Les.
In other words, a rational person of conscience and compassion understands. Your Buddhist principles reflect these qualities.

Basing a faith on obedient regurgitation of dogma or punishment invites authoritarianism.

In my readings and understanding of Eastern faiths, Buddhism and Sikhism get it right much better than the middle eastern tribal religions and institutionalized/evangelical Christianity.

There are three core pillars of Sikhism, formalized by Guru Nanak. These are:

Vaṇḍ Chakkō: Sharing with others, helping those in need, as well as participating as part of a community. A spirit of giving, sharing, and caring for one another is central to Sikhism.

Kirat Karō: Earning/making a living honestly, without exploitation or fraud, and speaking the truth at all times.

Naam Japna: Meditating on God’s name to live a life of decency and humility.

I found these principles in the Nirankari faith, an offshoot of Sikhism, as well. I was formally welcomed in a local group of these kind, generous, non-dogmatic people. They welcome and discuss the teachings of any prophet or faith that promotes these standards of basic human decency.

The The Baha’i and Unitarians are two other faiths that take this path.
