We've already started hearing and seeing both official and unofficial Trump World carping about this. How can courts stand in the way of what we, the administration, want to do? We're the executive branch! We were elected by promising to do this, so we should be able to do it. Why are "deep state" judges standing in the way of us accomplishing our agenda to "Make America Great Again"?
Today it is Trump's Tariffs. Yesterday it was reject due process and deport people illegally. A few weeks back, it was cut spending and eliminate government departments. Tomorrow it is punishing Harvard and defund R & D in health and science.
We can argue all day about whether these are good policies, but that does not matter. What matters is that for a president and his administration to effectively make long term policy, negotiations must take place with lawmakers, legislation passed and then sold to America as good for America.
America is not ruled by fiat or iron fist. We were founded to leave that style of government behind as evidenced by the system we have. A system that by design, moves slowly and was built by our founders to encourage compromise on even the most difficult issues. There is no deep state. There's a Constitution and two additional co-equal branches of government which together work to restrain each other.
If Trump really believes his policies are going to "MAGA", it is on him and his team to do the hard work of getting bipartisan legislation through Congress and to his desk for signature, just as Joe Biden did with some of what he would call his signature accomplishments, the Chips Act, the Infrastructure Act and the Safe Streets Act.
Trump and his team can carp, complain and gripe all they want, it's their right. But the facts are this...
We do not have a king, we do not have dictatorial law in the US. And our judicial branch, with judges appointed by presidents from both parties, including Trump, have affirmed this as they've ruled against him.
Trump is not the CEO of America. He's the president, subject to the Constitution. His election does not change that or give him a mandate to whatever he wants, and no arguing in his defense, from his aide Stephen Miller to the sailors on the HMS Mothership believe that.
Because if they did, they would have supported both Presidents Obama and Biden taking the same approach.
Which of course, they did not.
Final thought... for all our conservative buddies here who will soon be posting deep state screeds decrying the "activist" courts slowing the Trump agenda, do you believe President Biden had a right to order student loan forgiveness and the courts were wrong to restrain him?
That's the wrong question, Dave. The right one is, "if they rule against Trump, should the Executive Branch obey, or ignore it?" Lincoln gave a few "illegal/ un-Constitutional orders" during the Civil War. What do you think would have happened if the Executive Branch and military HADN'T followed them?
Well that's the issue isn't -FJ? You don't like a question, so you say it's the wrong question. And never enter into a real discussion. Why should anyone bother with you?
BTW... Trump has asserted that he is the Executive Branch and his lawyers have stated that all Executive Branch rests in the president.

Rep. Ted Lieu:
"Even a judge appointed by Trump said his indiscriminate tariffs are illegal.
The President does not have the authority to decimate our economy."
No Shaw, he or she does not. A president must follow the Constitution and the law.
And if people don't like that reality, refer to my final thought above and give us your thoughts before sharing your screeds.
That didn't last long.
For now. The overruled lower court ruling is still in litigation. Don't break out the confetti just yet.
A question Joe C... if the SCOTUS ultimately rules against Trump, should Trump obey their order, or ignore it?
Crickets.

I've got no skin in the game either way.
