Pope Leo XIV's maternal grandparents were Haitian and Creole.

"Pope Leo XIV, whose birth name is Robert Francis Prevost, has Haitian ancestors on his mother's side. His maternal grandfather, Joseph Martinez, was born in Haiti, and his mother, Mildred Martinez, was the first of her siblings to be considered white. Prevost's family has deep roots in New Orleans, with ties to Creole and Haitian communities."

Huh. Thought he was French. Personally, I avoid those ancestry and DNA
searches, worried about a high Neanderthal background.
