”I’ve always been fascinated by how deeply MAGA can believe things without a single shred of evidence. Not just skepticism—actual belief. The kind that insists Hillary Clinton drinks baby blood, that Democrats run secret pedophile rings, or that there’s some omnipresent Deep State terrified of Donald Trump.
What I’m trying to understand is why.
Where does that belief come from? Who told you this? What was the moment that convinced you it was true? You say the system is corrupt, the media lies, the elites are evil—but how do you know that? Not think. Not feel. Know.
And yes, we all know the media can be biased. Right, left—it exists. Headlines can be misleading. Narratives can be shaped. But biased isn’t the same as fictional. Being selective with facts isn’t the same as making up entire realities. So again—where do you get your truth from? And what makes it reliable?
Because for most rational people, belief is rooted in evidence. We see something, we test it, we verify it. Even religious faith—at least honest faith—acknowledges it’s belief without proof. But you’re claiming something tangible, physical, and real. And you believe it so strongly you’d burn democracy to the ground over it.
So what exactly are you standing on? What’s the foundation? Is it a feeling? A meme? A gut instinct? Something you heard on a podcast? What’s holding up the entire belief system you’ve built your identity around?
I’m genuinely asking—not to mock—but to understand the psychology of it. Because it looks a lot less like patriotism and a lot more like a mass delusion. And at some point, I want to know if there’s any part of you left that would change your mind if the evidence pointed the other way.
His type of actions worked so well with the Dixie Chicks. Run to a foreign land and complain about the country that made you rich, very brave. Of course the Chicks still had talent and were not past their prime.
”Case in point: you truly believed that if Trump got back into office, it would all happen—retribution, perp walks, military tribunals, the Deep State dragged into the light. You were promised that the Epstein files would be released. That Adam Schiff and every Democrat who “wronged” Trump would be arrested live on national TV. You pictured mass arrests, televised justice, vindication. And you’d finally get to sit back and cheer as it all unfolded.
But here’s the thing: none of that is going to happen.
Because none of it was ever true.
So now you’re left with two options:
1. You were lied to. Fed a fantasy. Told what you wanted to hear by people who profited off your belief.
2. Or—your second option—the Deep State is so all-powerful, so untouchable, that even when you control the White House, DOJ, FBI, Attorney General, Congress and the Senate… you still can’t do a thing.
So which is it? Were you conned? Or is your entire movement somehow too incompetent to beat something that doesn’t even show up?
Either way, you’ve built a belief system where failure only proves you’re right. That’s not politics. That’s a cult.
"You say the system is corrupt, the media lies, the elites are evil—but how do you know that?" jake tapper would be a good start as are all those who served in the white house.
I have wondered how people can support someone who is noticeably incompetent because they are a nice guy. How can they support a party with no vision of the future, no leadership and no agenda except we hate trump.
My mind is always vote for the person and party that will best serve the American Taxpayer. It is laughable how the DNC chooses their nominee. They choose a women who no one likes because she pulled out of a race against barry. Then chose a candidate not to lead but so sit in a chair because they had no acceptable candidate then the selected a women who pulled out of the presidential race because she couldn't get one vote. Last election no one stepped up but hopefully in three years they will.
Because it's "human nature"... the richer, wealthier, and more powerful that you become, the greater the temptation to act like an arrogant out-of-touch rules-do-not-apply-to-me ass-hole. Jouissance is mankind's tether to reality, and the more you indulge it, the more reality gets cast adrift.
The cult starts early, like birth early. It's the network of Christian Nationalist churches - so many different names and individual sects all housed under the Evangelical and Fundamentalist Christian umbrella. Caveat - not all Evangelical and Fundamentalist Christians are Christian Nationalists but all Christian Nationalists are Fundamentalist and Evangelical.
The message is contained within a bubble. Who do you get to listen to? Where are you educated? The voices are either "on the list" or you dismiss them as being of Satan and trying to tempt you from your fate. Every day the message is pounded in, every time you go to church the same message (Johnson Amendment? We don't need no stinking Johnson Amendment), over and over. It's also tied into Patriarchy and White Supremacism. One big beautiful ball of hatred and indoctrination.
Honestly it didn't start out this way but over the decades as the priest class got a taste of power and money the ranks pulled together, the windows were shuttered, doors closed only to true believers and here we are.
Or at least that's how I interpreted how things played out over the past twenty to thirty years.
You obviously don’t know anything about Springsteen and what his music has been about over the past 50 years. And for you to say he’s past his prime is to show us that you know even less about his fans and his star quality. He packs them in at every concert and is wildly loved by his fans all over the world.
He has the right to express himself. The only people who were offended are the Trump cultists, y’know the people who admire a convicted criminal and sexual assaulter who’s a liar, cheat, and fraud.
BTW, while Trump was on a diplomatic mission in the Middle East, he trashed former President Biden. You didn’t mention that, did you. And that’s coming from aPOTUS, not a rock star. Makes a bit of a difference, doesn’t it.
This is all warmed-over Biden hate. Nothing new from you. The facts are that Biden did more for Americans than Trump did in his first 4 years, and his first 100 days of his second term. No comparison.
You still admire a criminal and sexual assaulter. Biden is none of that. Your values, not mine.
skud says "My mind is always vote for the person and party that will best serve the American Taxpayer"
OK skud, so you are ok with your taxes going up at least 18% in the Big Beautiful Bill. Good to know.
Shaw, I know you say skud is not a racist and not misogynistic but based on their comments here, I just have to say, they've been quacking a bit so I'm thinking water fowl?
OT a wee bit - because the FOTUS fired first, asked questions weeks later (how do you turn this on?) NOAA no longer has the personnel to operate the weather operating stations located around the nation. As a result Missouri or Kentucky didn't have the usual advanced warnings a tornado was in the vicinity and 27 people died. And I know this just happened but I've already heard the 'bon mot' that Wow, didn't know weather people can stop tornados.
No, they can't stop what's coming but they can give those in the affected areas five to ten minutes to get somewhere safe so lives are spared. It would be why the observation stations were built in the first place. Preventable deaths leave me in a very bad place.
But hey, at least Biden or that nasty "DEI hire" (per skud) weren't in charge, amirite??
Grey, Where do you get your information, must be quacker news. 27 people lost their lives because NOAA didn't lay off any meteorologists. I will assume from your statement you no nothing about and have never lived in a tornado area. They had days of warning and most could do nothing about it because no one knows the track a tornado will take until it takes it. Severe thunderstorm warning with threat of a tornado was broadcast regularly but the whole death and destruction is determined by where you are located relevant to the path.
You are letting your hatred of all things conservative cloud your otherwise rational thinking. Where did you get taxes are going up 18%, that's right quacker news.
In his unique and dignified way, POTUS has declared Springsteen and Taylor Swift "no-talent losers". We presume his loyal followers will drive RFKjr's version "The Answer Is Wheezing and Yodeling in the Wind" to the top? (Or he will sue!)

Bruce has become boring... must be the age setting in.
Only boring to you and the Felon in Chief because he criticized Trump. He performed in front of a massive crowd in England and is still The Boss!
The Felon and cons have become very boring

As the Buddha pointed out, One's thoughts create their world.
Since we are the consciousness and awareness that obseves our thoughts perhaps skud should consider watching his thoughts relative to his experience.
"Christians" and Hate - so common, it must be in the Trump Bible.
From the Crusades onwards Christianity has had a violent path. As has Judaism and Islam. Must be the monotheistic thing.
Although I'm pretty sure Jesus of Nazareth would approve NOT of the violence his faith has engaged in.
The "religion of love" sure engages ina lot of hate.
