BREAKING

Israel bombs Iran's nuclear program.

Ron Filipkowski‬:

We’re bombing Houthis. Israel is bombing Iran & Gaza. Russia is bombing Ukraine. We’re threatening Greenland. When is all this peace & tranquility going to happen that Trump promised us he would accomplish on Day 1 because everyone around the world was supposedly afraid of him?

Insanity seems to be more and more the rule of the day. With the same here at home as well.

Might does not make right... But in the hands of fascists it does create incredible destruction and suffering.

It's unfolding exponentially across the globe. My money is on the insanity expanding rapidly.

All this could have been prevented except the FOTUS is a weak man trying to look strong.

So, went surfing, this is what I found:

= Rubio says US not involved.

= Senior US Intelligence official said US provided "real-time reconnaissance support to Israel before, during, and after the ongoing strikes - using secure channels to coordinate every step.

= Israel official said to their local press that they presented the American administration with evidence of Iran's breakthrough toward a nuclear bomb. There was full and complete coordination with the Americans.

= GOP is acting like it's a game as they cheer their favorite side.

= Statement from the Foreign Ministry of the Islamic Republic of Iran
"The aggressive actions of the Zionist regime against Iran could not have been carried out without coordination and approval of the United States.

Thus, the US government, as the main supporter of this regime, will be held responsible for the dangerous consequences of Israel's adventurism*."

*Adventurism (noun): the willingness to take risks in business or politics (especially in the context of foreign policy)

= Per the Israel Defense Force, over 200 aircraft participated in five waves of strikes against Iran, dropping over 330 munitions on targets ranging from nuclear facilities, military bases, missile sites, military and political leadership, as well as nuclear scientists.

= FOTUS on Truth Social demands both sides sit down to peace talks hours and hours after the attacks occurred.

A. We only have Israel and the FOTUS admin's word that Iran had the bomb.
B. same as A
C. same as B

As neither Netanyahu nor the FOTUS can tell the truth if their lives depended on it, I won't be fooled again (WMD anyone?). We are cursed to watch the war of egos as those who should know better decided it was 'easier' just kill them all rather than learn how to build a bridge.

A commenter who frequents this blog blamed former President Joe Biden for the October 7 attack by Hamas on Israelis.

I'll wait to see if that same commenter blames Trump for the war between Israel and Iran.

Les Carpenter said...

My guess is that commenter will find a way to blame Biden for it too.

I do find myself seeing more vividly than ever lately just how unrighteous the White European Christian West has generally always been. It is true that the Victor's get to write the history books. But when truth eventually seeps out it often tells a different story.

Most animals as far as I know don't kill for sport. Except humans.

Dave Miller said...

Shaw... that commenter will probably blame Obama for the deal the US made under his admin with Iran.

News orgs are reporting that Israel is saying last nights strikes on Iran are part of "an ongoing operation" to take out the nuclear capabilities of the country.

Last night was some of the leadership, defenses and a few facilities. Tonight? Tomorrow?

skudrunner said...

How can any country support unprovoked attack on another country. Granted Iran is a threat to the world but that doesn't mean they will use their nuclear technology given to them by the US to do harm.
We condemn russia for attacking Ukraine we should do the same with Israel but we won't. Of course the UN is worthless in everything and we should stop supporting that worthless organization as part doge.

Dave Miller said...

Well Skud... that preemptive strategy is called the Bush Doctrine, essentially saying why wait for the attack when "we know" it's coming.

That of course did not happen at all in Ukraine. That was simply naked aggression and even Sec Def Hegseth has now admitted under oath Russia is the aggressor in that war.

Had Trump simply enforced the deal the Obama Admin made, and Biden too for that matter, we would not be dealing with this now.

But again... here we are.

In what tactics book does flying over 1000 miles to kill some nuclear physicists explained as 'self defense? Most of our foreign military aid goes to Israel. Have we no clout? Or is Trump too busy planning his birthday parade?

OT: The MOST unaware comment I've seen yet from the Mother Ship:

"I hope no Democrat’s son or daughter or grandmother is apprehended by these detainees and raped or killed, since the Democrats seem to favor criminals over innocent Americans."

The Captain literally voted for and admires a convicted felon & sexual assaulter. A criminal! To lead our country. She favors a criminal!

MAGA: Not very bright.

Dave Miller said...

Shaw, more OT... what do you expect from a person and leader of a band of folks who truly believe you, me, Les, Grey, BB, et al are libtards, brain dead, mentally ill, America haters who want rapists, pedophiles and murderers here so as to wantonly terrorize our country?

What do you expect from ppl who use terms like "halfrican" to mock mixed race people? What do you expect from people who have said "boys will be boys" when excusing sexual assaults? What do you expect from ppl who for years said people who lie should not be president, [and continue to do so as it relates to Joe Biden] and yet, excuse the lies of the current president?

I don't doubt the patriotism of any of them. Not a one. I know they love America. or at least a version of America that resides in their collective 1950's mindset.

And that is the beauty of America.

They get to live here, hold on tight to that vision and even speak and write about it. Now, they may be wrong and they may be bad for America. Their ideas and views may be repugnant to me at all levels.

But they are still Americans and today we will celebrate, however imperfectly, an army that for 250 years has protected their rights to be Americans too. However different from us they may be.

Sadly though, they do not believe ppl like us should be accorded the same grace. They go beyond seeing our ideas as un American and instead ascribe that descriptor to us directly, somehow seeing us as unworthy to lay claim to the American dream.

Shaw, the families of my wife and I, both of us descending from the earliest days of our nascent nation, have defended our country in every war we have fought from the Revolutionary War to the present WOGT. I dare say few in the crowd of Mothership sailors can make such a claim. Our ancestors are lying in US national Cemeteries across the land as evidence to their sacrifices.

Our family, a mix of poor white people and black slaves has uniquely known the good and bad of this country in way few can match. We love America, warts and all and yes, we pray regularly for our country and her leaders, even President Trump.

Today I will celebrate the US Army and remind folks that we are a country of laws, order and three co-equal branches of government, forged through centuries of immigration of the wanted and unwanted, the tired, poor, hungry and those here legally and who came illegally.

And I will celebrate an army that protects the rights of everyone living here.

Even when those people miss irony, dismiss criminal behavior, elect felons to lead us or, are just plain wrong.

The US has always supported Israel especially the republicans. We give the billions every year because they are a "stabilizing force" in the middle east. Unlike the retaliation from being attacked this is purely an act of aggression.

Les Carpenter said...

The "Captain", in almost every comment she makes, and every post she puts up, expresses the ignorance and delusions that are at the heart of that which is dividing the nation and eating away at the very foundation of our democratic republic.

Les Carpenter said...

They are a "stabilizing force" in the Middle East is but a meme used every since the 1967 ME war. It is a lie. The Zionist government, especially under the Butcher Netanyahu, is a monstrous destabilizing force. The Zionist approved genocidal slaughter of over 50,000 innocent Palestinian children, women, and non combatant men is a crime against the Palestinian people and humanity in general.

Netanyahu should be treated as a war criminal and be tried in an International Court of Law. Convicted, jailed, and left to rot.

Dave Dubya said...

Does anyone recall when Iran targeted Israeli generals?
Me neither.
Iran is within its right to self defense to target Netanyahu.
Some history:
The Balfour Declaration by Britain in 1917 called for a Jewish state, then the UN Resolution 181 of 1947 affirmed it. The nation of Israel was founded in 1948.

Palestinians had no voice in the matter as they were evicted from their homes and their land confiscated by the state of Israel in what Palestinians call the "nakba".

After WWII the world had much sympathy for Jews and it seemed like the right thing was for them to have their own country.

Now Israel is slaughtering Gazans in numbers greater than the Nazis did to Jews prior to WWII.

I think the UN and the US made a mistake. They set the stage for eternal conflict and instability.

And let's be clear about the one word that's the root cause of this madness.

Religion. As long as there is religion, tribalism, racism and greed, the Middle East will be a tinderbox that could start WWIII.

Ultimately the most savage of primates will have to evolve in conscience and consciousness, or we will eventually annihilate our species. Evolution or extinction are only options for the most savage of primates.

And it's only getting harder to be optimistic.

Les Carpenter said...

You just expressed a truth Dave D. that it seems few people want to talk about.

It is the west and its 1947 decision that is continuing to fuel the hatred and violence we have grown accustomed to seeing (and accepting) in the ME since then.

Israel is ruled by an authoritarian butcher and the ignorant policy of the US government continues to support him. Insuring continued butchering of innocent lives in the ME.

The further America moves down the fascist authoritarian path itself the more unsafe the world becomes.

Dave Miller said...

Dave and Les... it may indeed be that 1947 decision. But...

-What should we have done? Not established a place for Jewish ppl?
-Established it somewhere else?
-Do societies and ppl groups have a responsibility to accept their fate, and just move on?
-Should the collective post WWII powers have effectively eliminated the Palestinians to create a Jewish homeland, as the settlers did in the US to our indigenous populations?

Some food for Sunday reflection.

Les Carpenter said...

Since it was the action of the West the West should have been willing to relocate the Jewish people in the West. With the US being the largest territorial land mass perhaps we should have relocated Jewish people to the US and made the relocation a Jewish State. Since we support them militarily and in other ways it has always made more sense to me than igniting, or reigniting, a religious/political tinderbox of distrust and hate as we did.

I find it absolutely unbelievable that people claiming to be spiritual can access such hate and violence as many who practice Judaism, Islam, and Christianity.

Religion is all about control over other's beliefs system. Spirituality is the never ending seeking for and supporting truth, compassion, understanding, inclusion, and acceptance of the great beauty that lies on diversity and love for ones fellow humans, regardless of race, ethnicity, sexual preference, or spiritual/religious affiliation.

It's simple. But apparently not for complex self centered humans.

Dave Dubya said...

Dave,
Good questions to ponder. The last one is easiest to address if we still believe genocide and removal has a place in a civilized world. I'm unaware of Jews living under the British Mandate being treated anywhere near as horribly as the Palestinians are under Israeli domination.

BTW, Hitler took inspiration from America's treatment of Native Americans and Blacks.

But alas, we may strive to be a civil species but always get dragged down by greed, religion, tribalism, racism, and nationalism with their shared traits of xenophobia, fear, and hate.

What maybe SHOULD have been done was to establish a Palestinian state along with a Jewish state. I'm sure they still wouldn't get along due to tribalism and religion, but at least Palestinians would have had self rule within recognized borders.

Like I said, it seemed like a good idea at the time when the world had more sympathy for Jews as it was recovering from fascist nationalism. What got ignored was the inherent danger of religious nationalism. The assassinations in Minnesota are a direct consequence of Trumpism and American Christian nationalism.

Dave Miller said...

Les & Dave... I don't think the Jewish ppl would have accepted anything other than a space smack dab where they are. Living out their faith, they saw that space and geography as a gift, indeed a commandment from God.

So we were stuck. It had to be where it is. At least for them.

And of course, no one stopped for a minute to think about the consequences of that decision in the long run.

Dube, There are 2.1 million people in Gaza, there were 6 million executed by the germans in WW2 so your statement is either a mistake or deliberate showing your antisemitism.
We should get rid of NATO and use the money for the US iron dome.

Les Carpenter said...

Humans are great at dreaming about building walks and presumably iron domes, all in the attempt to keep division alive and well among people. Until the human race eventually annihilate itself. Driven by ignorance, greed, and religion.

Until the belief in a substantial unchanging self is completely surrendered and snuffed out humankind is at risk of destroying itself.

Dave Dubya said...

Skud,
You're making two mistakes.
1.You misread, "Now Israel is slaughtering Gazans in numbers greater than the Nazis did to Jews prior to WWII".
This is factual. While they did persecute and even murder some Jews before the war, the Nazis' "final solution" of extermination came DURING the war.

https://encyclopedia.ushmm.org/content/en/timeline-group/holocaust/1939-1941
On September 1, 1939, Nazi Germany unleashed World War II by invading Poland. The war radicalized Nazi policies, leading to brutal occupations of conquered territory. German authorities in occupied Poland established ghettos for Jews. They also introduced harsh measures against non-Jewish Poles. Inside Germany and in occupied Polish territories, German physicians and SS staff used gas chambers to kill institutionalized persons with disabilities. In June 1941, German troops invaded the Soviet Union, unleashing a “racial war” that led to the mass murder of Soviet Jews and Soviet prisoners of war. In the weeks and months that followed, Nazi Germany’s leaders decided to carry out the systematic mass murder of Europe’s Jews.

2. Like every dishonest Republican and Christian nationalist, you equate criticism of Netanyahu or the Israeli government as "antisemitism". Don't you understand there are Israeli Jews who do not approve of Netanyahu's brutality. Are they also "antisemitic"?
