UPDATE ON THE MOTHER SHIP

TODAY:

Two medical doctors I know have recently said to me “…I’m not surprised at the Anti Semitism here! America’s always been racist and anti Semitic!” WHAT? That’s not the America I KNOW. I learned recently that I’m spoiled living in LA…you really don’t see racism AT ALL. Today, I know NOT ONE racist OR anti Semitic.

The captain of the Mother Ship apparently doesn't read her own commenters:

MUSTANG: "As an aside, I am continually amazed by the coloreds, whose diminished mental capacity makes them perfect pawns for the evildoers associated with Islam (a pox on all their houses)."

Also found on her blog: "Halfrican" to describe former President Obama. "Ni**er in a woodpile," to describe Nikki Haley."

THIS IS WHAT THEY THINK OF OUR FIRST BLACK FLOTUS:

Well, to realize my declared intent to improve race relations in America, I would have immediately issued the following EOs:

ban BET, MTV, and rap “music.”
execute Jeremiah Wright
require racial balance in the NBA to reflect national demographics
execute Al Sharpton
ban Islam from all states, territories, and districts of the US
execute Louis Farrakhan
abolish the Congressional Black Caucus
banish Sheila Jackson Lee
suspend voting rights for everyone on Food Stamps, Welfare, and unemployment
flog Elijah Cummings

Next, to demonstrate my commitment to making America great again, I would have immediately eradicated Pyongyang, Tehran, Damascus, Mecca, Islamabad, Cairo, and Kabul.

To stabilize the economy, I would have cancelled the national debt and begun massive drilling and shipping of domestic oil and natural gas to collapse OPEC and further destroy the sluggish Russian economy.

For starters, anyway.

I have decided I’m PRO MISOGYNY for the first time in my life.

I’ve come close in the past with my opinions of much of the behavior of Marjorie Taylor Green and Lauren Boebert, Nancy Pelosi and Hillary Clinton but, IN GENERAL, I’m PRO WOMEN!!

With this election coming and the way Kamala acted on stage Tuesday night, and with my hearing statistics saying men are favoring Trump:

These are the folks who support Trump and who actually believe there's no racism, sexism, or demonizing the opposing political party as "parasites" and Haitians as "rubbish" in America. Did the captain or any of her sailors understand what people do to "parasites" and "rubbish?"

Naive, clueless, and racist doesn't begin to describe these people. But it's a start.

Critical of views, yes. Of course. Characterized political positions, of course. But have we ever equated a GOP FLOTUS as an animal or a man? If so, you show us.

Have we ever lumped every member of any race into a negative box in the way Mustang did today? If so, you show us.

Are we critical of policies? Do we think many GOP policies are, or will be bad for America? Of course.

And yes, some here occasionally go overboard. But those are exceptions. Shaw works hard to be factual, especially calling Trump a felon. I try to do the same.

But think about the crew here... Me, Shaw, BB, Grey, Les & a few others. There simply is no equivalent casual level of comfort here with racist, misogynistic personal attacks on people.

Attacks on ideas, that sometimes go overboard? Yes that happens. Especially in my view, when all Christians get lumped into the White Nationalist Trump supporting camp.

But unless you can show where we've exhibited open racial disdain and misogyny personally towards entire races, people groups and the sexual orientation of people, you're off base.

Is race critical a way of saying the obvious, that the posts Shaw cited are somewhere on the spectrum between outwardly racist and racially ignorant?

Sorry, but there is no realism in criticizing race, certainly not in the ways your fellow sailors on the Mothership do. How should anyone who is black interpret this comment that Shaw cited from Mustang?

I do not believe it is race critical at all. If I showed that to all my MAGA loving friends who are pastors, and I have legions, every single one of them would say it is racist. Are they all wrong?

Now, we live in a free speech country. So while Mustang and his buddies have a right to say or write a comment like that, society has no responsibility to accept it as proper, good for America or helpful in moving our country forward.

The Apostle Paul says “I have the right to do anything,” you say—but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything"—but not everything is constructive.

Many of the ppl at the Mothership bring up their faith in God and love of Jesus, including the denigration of other religions. I'd go beyond my statement about pastors to say I do not know a single Christian, from both the left and the MAGA right who would ever utter or write the phrases Shaw has posted.

As it relates to families, I'll just say this... there is plenty of stuff that is allowed to be said in families. Some good and some bad. But that ability comes through the strength of relationship, nurtured over years of knowing each other.

I get that. But outside of that family circle, the same dynamics do not apply. You don't get the same tolerance. It's like this... Chris Tucker can say in "Rush Hour" "What's up my ni##er" in a bar. No problem. But when Jackie Chan does it, it's a problem.

Jackie was not part of the "club" of essentially family. A family where we've seen trust, love and respect lived out on a daily basis between the members.

I stand by my response to -FJ. The types of statements we see almost daily on Geeez, IMHO are not racial critical, they are frequently and proudly racist. But at least you see them as "race critical." I doubt anyone else there would. They would see them as 'truth".

And again, you won't see statements like that here. Maybe because, as you say, we are guilty of "neoracism", maybe because we've chosen to live by the words of our grandmothers back in the day... That is a claim you and they make that means Black Americans who overwhelmingly stay with the Democrats are too stupid to know they're being kept "on a plantation" and are being used. That's what you and they think of an entire race and culture. You believe they're naive little children who can't think or act for themselves. Nothing is more farther from the truth than that.
