WELL DONE, AMERICA! WELL DONE!!!!

Angry Voters Usher in Beginning of the End to the Trump Era

The electoral backlash extended even into deep red states and indicated that President Trump has lost his hold over the coalition that lifted him to the White House twice.

It was a woke, DEI tsunami for the Democrats!  Thank you America!

Last night America said to an increasingly puny minority, enough! Basta! We're done here.

Decency won out. And it was not ambiguous.

Entire red states turned blue. Entire purple states turned blue.

Everywhere the message of the 2008 Obama campaign, Hope, prevailed.

And now, for the Dems, the hard work begins.

Governing.

Time to put on their big boy pants. But only after a few days of partying.

Because America deserves it.

As predicted trump lost. He can take a bow as being responsible for turning the country control around. His hold on the party is over which is a good thing and he will not accept any of the blame.
What will change for the American people, little because it is not about running the country for its citizens, it is all about running the country for the politicians.
Not much changed except the color of the corruption from red to blue.

A cynical comment on last night‘s election as as usual with you scud.

I was halfway down that path of not believing in anything or any good that would come from American politics, but I stopped myself. I refuse to see the worst in everything. There’s a lot of work to be done as Dave Miller has said. But what we saw last night was a complete repudiation of what the MAGA Republican Party tried to force onto the American people!

As I said, in my post, this was a woke, DEI election victory! It showed that America cares about the content of people’s character, not their skin color, their gender, their sexual orientation,, or their religion!

I’m sorry you’re a cynical American scud; and you know what Oscar Wilde said about cynics — they know the price of everything in the value of nothing.

Shaw Kenawe said...

Sorry about the misspelling of your name, Skud. That was dictated.

Yes, the hard work has to begin once. everyone is sworn into office. That means the Democrats will have to work with Donald Trump, but most importantly, he has to work with the Democrats! It remains to be seen if that can happen in what has been a poisonous political atmosphere for the last almost 10 years. There is always hope!

America has a long way to go. But it is looking more like the diversity that defines America.

America has been strengthened by last night's "woke" Blue Tsunami. However, now the work begins. Legislation that will benefit ALL Americans must immediately be drafted, debated, and passed. While the temptation by democrats may be great to exact.revenge, that will be a grave mistake. America wants results solving the issues that are confronting all working class Americans. Focus must be on that. Not endless hearings to exact revenge.

The issue congress should address is the Epstein Files and full disclosure and accountability should be forthcoming. That's it.

On to the hard work of governance and creating the America everyone can be proud of!!

Not to mention Peggy Flanagan in Minnesota, who will be the first Native American woman elected to the Senate! Then there is Amy Klobuchar, who will become the first woman to serve as governor in Minnesota's 168-year history when she takes office in January 2027.

skudrunner said...

Are you sure the misspelling was a mistake.
Yes I am cynical of All politicians and the idea of change at their hands. What have all politicians done for average citizens in the last 10 administrations. Very little but they have certainly gotten richer. They hijack healthcare and don't follow up to make sure it works. They start a war with no plan, they open borders with no plan. Do all of these things serve the American people, no.
What they are very good at is increasing their wealth through early information be it crypto or stock trades.

I hope things change for the better but past history shows little will change except the attacks and blame.

Shaw... I'm trying hard not to gloat and not to get angry with conservatives venting their displeasure today.

Maybe tomorrow.

I believe America is better today. One reason? Our diversity is our strength. Look what President Reagan had to say about where that diversity comes from...

"We lead the world because, unique among nations, we draw our people—our strength—from every country and every corner of the world."

"More than any other country, our strength comes from our own immigrant heritage and our capacity to welcome those from other lands."

Today we have a Native American as governor. We have a two governors with roots in Mexico. We now have four African American governors, one of which is a woman!

There's a lot to celebrate today. We can go to work and back to bickering another day.

Today, let's listen to a little "Feeling Good" from Nina Simone.

As I said in my post, this was a PRO-woke, DEI election, and there is no disputing that! Trump, Hegseth, and the rest of the administration told the American people that diversity and inclusion weakened America. They are WRONG! Americans voted with their minds and hearts and said YES! to woke and DEI!

PS. I'm keeping an eye on the So.Carolina recount and Nancy Lacore, the Democrat for the House. The race is very close, but Lacore is slightly ahead.

Nancy Stewart Lacore is a retired United States Navy officer and political candidate who served as the 16th Chief of Navy Reserve from 2024 to 2025. A vice admiral, she previously served as the 93rd commandant of Naval District Washington from 2022 to 2024. Pete Hegseth summarily fired her, WITHOUT CAUSE!

MY childhood girlfriend (whom I've remained close to all my life) -- her daughter is married to Lacore's brother, so I gave a few bucks to her campaign. Keep your fingers crossed!

As Wilde said, "The price of everything and the value of nothing."

Shaw Kenawe said...

It's not gloating to understand that the anti-woke, anti-DEI propaganda pushed by the administration did NOT resonate with the American people. Look at the candidates the American people elected -- even from RED states. Their anti-humanity propaganda failed!

Shaw Kenawe said...

I'm with you, Les.

It is a great day for women of all ethnicities, colors, religions, and sexual orientation. This is what America is all about!

And here's the typical sailor from the Mother Ship on last night's Blue tsunami:

"It’s called an election, but with so many states with uncontrolled voting, corruption, and illegal money, it’s no different than the worst of the banana republics. Even Texas flipped a Senator, but with the major cities as corrupt as the worst of cities, those votes are always suspect."

The elections are always suspect when they lose; the elections are NEVER suspect when they win! It ends; it never ends.

Shaw Kenawe said...

Another gloom and doom MAGA:

"My grandchildren will be able to say they can remember when a hamburger was less than fifteen dollars, a bottle of Coca-Cola was under ten, and you could get a nice brand-new automobile for less than 50 thousand.

Then one day, when the day’s final call to prayer has ended and the evening automatic reduction in electricity and water pressure to private homes has kicked in, people will say they can remember when France was a sovereign nation, when English people actually spoke English, and when there was a country called the United States which didn’t have shari’a law, mosques instead of churches, and a strange cult called Jews which had hung around for over 4000 years until Allah finally brought death to the Great Satan.

Someone left the cake out in the islamic reign and we’ll never see that non-halal recipe again.

Au revoir, individualité. ’Twas fun while it lasted."

They lost the midterms and, for them, it's the end of America and the world!

LOL!

Muslims are 1.6% of our population! Roughly 9.0% to 12.0% of U.S. adults identify as LGBTQ+ overall, with specific gay and lesbian populations making up smaller, distinct portions of that total.

It's more likely that "teh gayz!" will take over the US (not that there's anything wrong with that!) than the "Moslems!"

Bless their hearts! What would they be without something to fear and hate?

Les Carpenter said...

Yeah, the fearful warriors of the Orange Man's MAGA scam. Quivering in their bigoted fear of a religion that, in reality, is as ethical and moral as any Christan denomination. More so than the Empire Christianity that the MAGA Christian Nationalists worship.

This is what happens when you get a democrat who becomes a republican and get elected as a RINO. It is similar to what happened with jim crowe when democrats who created a law turn tail and hide behind the republican shield.

This is not the end of the world after all the swell guy lost 63 house seats. The next election may hold those in power responsible for the next two years. If the democrats do anything they may keep control and if they don't keep any of their promises they will lose power. It is all about corruption and power which trump excelled at so the democrats have a tall hill to climb.

There were wins and losses in last nights results reporting, at least in my view.

First the wins - the candidates who brought their authentic selves to their campaigns did very well. These were not politicians - folks who say only what will get them elected but public servants, folks who believe in helping their neighbors to each achieve their greater good. Highlights were the retired Rear Admiral Eileen Laubacher beating Lauren Boebert. I almost said beat the pants off of Lauren but as that's not a tough task I amended my statement. Guess Hegseth shouldn't have "retired" her because Admirals aren't known for being sit at home types. LOL There were so many highlights, I'll be honest. Each of these newly elected officials are ready to work and are already working behind the scenes to hit the ground running once sworn in. Fairly certain the US isn't ready for their level of Let's get this mess cleaned up. I mean I am, but then again I listened to their messages on the campaign trail, unlike some who comment here.

So - low points, on a personal level my city decided to enforce genital inspections on kids to ensure the boys are playing with the boys, etc. Lesson from this is we may have won many things but the work continues.

What will our newly minted congress critters do after being sworn in? Well, Jamie Raskin dropped a 53 page document of Epstein file issues that needs to be addressed and Robert Garcia posted last night that MAGA officials need to lawyer up because as (now) chair of the Governmental Oversight committee he has a To-Do list to get through. And those are just two of the congress critters I follow. Knowing Elizabeth Warren as I do I'm sure she has a list of items that need to be addressed.

No one I listened to last night and this morning said that great, we won, we can rest on our laurels. Not. One. Person. Everyone said great, we won this battle; take a moment to celebrate but don't get cocky. We have Work To Do.

Which in my mind is exactly who we are as citizens of these United States.

Dave Miller said...

Skud... you asked "What have all politicians done for average citizens in the last 10 administrations." Good question. In fact a GREAT question.

What would you like our political leaders to do for America? For our people? For you?

What answer to your question would you like to see or would make you happy?

Just as an aside... your ten administrations takes us back to Nixon.

Well, we expected that you'd somehow turn a stunning electoral loss for the MAGA Republicans into the Democrats' fault. Because Trump once was a Democrat.

Here's Trump's party affiliation over the years. He was a Democrat for exactly 8 years. That's it. He was affiliated with other parties, including the GOP, for longer than he was a Democrat. So trying to blame Trump being a Dem for 8 years out of his life doesn't work:

His party registration history includes several shifts:
• 1987: Registered as a Republican.
• 1999: Switched to the Reform Party ahead of a brief 2000 presidential bid.
• August 2001: Changed his party affiliation to the Democratic Party.
• September 2009: Switched his affiliation back to the Republican Party.
• December 2011: Briefly registered as unaffiliated ("no party affiliation").
• April 2012: Returned to the Republican Party, where he has remained since.

Meanwhile, your hero, Ronald Reagan, was a Democrat for much much longer than Trump was when he switched to the GOP. BTW, his Republican presidency was one of the most corrupt in post-war American history.

Just a reminder, he was a Republican president when he left the Democratic Party and headed that corrupt administration:

Ronald Reagan was a Democrat for most of his early life and career, before officially switching to the Republican Party in 1962 at the age of 51.

Early Democrat: Reagan grew up in a New Deal-supporting Democratic household, voted for Franklin D. Roosevelt four times, served as president of the Screen Actors Guild as a liberal union advocate, and campaigned for Democratic candidates like Harry Truman in 1948.

Dave, In Answer to your question.
I would like to see out elected elite create a balanced budget and honor it.
I would like to see our elected elite protect veterans.
I would like to see our elected elite not make a fortune off insider information
I would like to see our elected elite spend money to help with the homeless issue instead of building a bridge to nowhere.
I would like to see our elected elite vote for term limits and congress being on medicare and a federal pension not a four years and you are set for life.
I would like to see our elected elite work for we the people instead of we the elected elite.
Our elected elite are suppose to be smart yet they can't figure out how to provide for basic healthcare for all, how to provide for veterans, how o clean up our streets and control violence and enforce the law.

Now for the next two years, none of what I mentioned will be accomplished because to many people do not hold our elected elite accountable. The yellow dogs look past the corruption in their party and the righties think it is not them. We hold no one accountable even ourselves. My solution is to throw them all out and start fresh.
Blue Tsunami my ass, more like different color for the same problem.

Lots and lots of work to do!

Les Carpenter said...

Agree with your list, skud.

Now, with democrats in charge of the purse strings these items will be more likely to be addressed.

Of course that also means revenue will need to be forthcoming. A combination of increased taxes, big reduction in war making expenditures, perhaps closing a large number of military bases, and instituting a wealth tax on billionaires and the trillionaire.

A true effort to make America Great by focusing capital and energies on those things that effect the lies of ordinary everyday Americans.

The bilioairesd and trillionaire need no help from the government (or the taxpayers) to increase their obscene wealth.

Dave Miller said...

Skud... great list. If Shaw permits, I'd like to focus on those in a separate post. So here, let me highlight a few of the people you believe will not help at all and will also be part of the problem.

All of these folks ran and won. Some as Dems, some as independents.

Jamie Ager. From North Carolina, Ager is a farmer. He’s from a district that was devastated by the 2024 hurricane. It’s an area still struggling to rebuild. Ager is a farmer and wants to see problems like that fixed.

Zack Mullock. A City Councilman and a mayor of his town. Running as an independent and as someone who has served his community for years, he ran on a simple platform… continue helping the area where he grew up.

Cyril Jefferson. He’s a North Carolina A&T State University grad. He wanted to help his community so he ran and became mayor of High Point, NC. In his career, he has focused on minority business development, economic equity, and grassroots volunteer public service.

Brian Poindexter. Poindexter, not even holding a college degree is a Ohio union guy. He’s worked for 20 years as an iron worker and has served on the city council of Brook Park, Ohio.

How, if we just started over, would you guarantee no self dealers got into your Congress?

These folks I've cited seem like regular folks to me, salt of the earth people as a friend of mine might describe them. They don't seem like the kind of people you're describing as simply in it for themselves. How de we judge someone on that before we elect them?

Dave Dubya said...

Skud lists a lot of MAGA Republican FAILURES. Good. Maybe he understands the Republican Party serves ONLY the oligarchic corporate elites instead of we the people. The "crappy lettuce" contagion could have been addressed by a functional CDC and FDA, but guess who squashed them?

Skud seems unaware of the extreme and institutionalized grift and corruption in Trump's party. He seem unaware of the MAGA criminals getting away with their crimes, including war crimes. He seems unaware of unaccountable secret police literally getting away with murdering protesters.

If he thinks both parties are the same, he's got a lot more thinking to do.

Dave Dubya said...

Skud,
Apply your remark to this:
El-Sayed: "When you nominate someone like RFK Jr who is anti-science to run HHS, what you get is a bunch of nasty crap lettuce in the state of Michigan. So my position is I'm gonna assume I'm not going to support you until proven otherwise. So the bar is going to be extremely high."

Is this serving the people, or "other politicians"?

Can you show us how this person is corrupt in ANY way?

Didn't think so.

Dave Miller said...

Here's something interesting that is going on. The Dems crushed in Texas. If the GOP cannot win in Texas, the party is extinct, done, dead, kaput.

Because California is a blue state already.

People all across Texas looked at the MAGA based GOP and said no! They said we want the Dems, we want them to govern us, we want them to lead Texas, we trust them more than the GOP. And yes, some undoubtedly said, we hate them less.

So how are the current Texas politicians responding to this? Let's look at the facts.

For several years, the Republican-led state government actively utilized its government powers to implement specific maps, laws, and administrative policies aimed at blunting the rising electoral power of Democrats... especially in the big cities of Texas.

Now the current government, that believed the government needed those powers to be effective, is working to strip government of all those powers before the Dems take office.

In effect, this is what's happening.

The GOP is working to thwart the will of its voters who chose, in a free, fair and open election, the Democrats to govern the state.

Why?

Again... because the GOP, it's MAGA base, it's supporters and enablers only believes they have a right to govern no matter what the voters say.

Perhaps Skud is right in that government doesn't work well enough for the American people. But here's part of the reason why... because one political party in America does not believe in the two party system.

Evidence? Just look at Texas and of course, Jan 6.

Shaw Kenawe said...

Any time you're ready with the post, Dave, I'll publish it.

They are following the republican playbook. I remembered something like this happening in Wisconsin. I looked it up and here is what Google AI said:

Following the November 2018 election where Democrat Tony Evers defeated incumbent Republican Governor Scott Walker, the Republican-controlled Wisconsin Legislature convened a "lame-duck" session. They passed a sweeping package of bills designed to weaken the incoming governor and incoming Democratic Attorney General Josh Kaul before they took office in January 2019.
Outgoing Governor Scott Walker signed the legislation into law on December 14, 2018.
The primary changes enacted by the legislation included:
• Rule-Making Authority: Curbed the governor's power to implement administrative rules and enact state laws without legislative input.
• Lawsuit Intervention: Required the attorney general to get approval from the legislature before withdrawing from lawsuits, explicitly blocking Evers from fulfilling a campaign promise to pull Wisconsin out of a multi-state lawsuit challenging the Affordable Care Act (ACA).
• Agency Control: Shifted control and board appointments for the state's economic development agency away from the governor to the legislature.
• Voting Restrictions: Restricted early in-person voting to a maximum of two weeks before an election.
Democrats and critics heavily condemned the moves as a partisan power grab that undermined the will of the voters, while Republicans argued it was a necessary step to balance power between the executive and legislative branches. The laws were subsequently challenged in court, but the Wisconsin Supreme Court ultimately upheld the core restrictions in a 2019 ruling.

Sam Huntington:

For conservatives wondering what happened on November 3, the answer may lie in the Oval Office. The 2026 midterm election was a clear rebuke of Donald J. Trump. His baffling conduct may well have helped propel the American Communist Party to its jaw-dropping success.

"The American Communist Party." This is why MAGA deserved to lose so catastrophically. If you don't agree with them, you're a Communist.

How 1950s of them!

Les Carpenter said...

Ohh my god! Danger is upon us!

There's a communist lurking around every corner in blue districts.

These people continue to be delusional freaks.

Communism is nothing more than government control of the meads of production. Other than the inefficiency that leads to what makes communism a bad system is the authoritarian nature, dictatorial control, and the brutal means communist governments have historical employed to keep its citizens in line.

That was not the vision of Karl Marx.
