LIMBAUGH THREATENS TO LEAVE USA IF HEALTH CARE REFORM PASSES

UPDATE BELOW FROM ANDREW SULLIVAN'S BLOG:

We can only hope..

What is hilarious about his Sean Pennish threat is this:

He stated he may go to Costa Rica.

"Responding to a caller who asked him where he would go for health care if Congress enacts reform, Limbaugh replied,

"I don't know. I'll just tell you this, if this passes and it's five years from now and all that stuff gets implemented -- I am leaving the country. I'll go to Costa Rica."--huffpost

Costa Rica has a health care system similar to the one Mr. Obama hopes to pass here in the US.  It has a public health care system.  Did you hear that Rush?  Costa Rica has a socialistic health care system!

"The Costa Rican healthcare system is rated very highly on an international level, and the country’s citizens enjoy the health and life expectancy equal to that of more developed nations. These accolades come courtesy of strong, universal health insurance and excellent public and private hospitals.

Public Health Care - Caja Costarricense de Seguro Social (CCSS)

Costa Rica’s public health insurance system, commonly known as the Caja, is available country-wide to all citizens and legal residents. There are ten major public hospitals – four in San Jose, including the Children’s Hospital – affiliated with the Caja. For non-emergencies and everyday medical care, small clinics, known as EBAIS are located in almost every community."

So are we to believe El Rushbo will leave the US if Mr. Obama's health care reform passes and settle in a country that has a universal health care system similar to Mr. Obama's plan?  Poor Rush!  Maybe he should look into moving to a third world country that doesn't have the ability to deliver health care to its citizens.  That seems to be where he would be more comfortable--a country like the Dominican Republic, he's been there, and apparently enjoyed his stay there very much.

Last Saturday we found out that the ex-Governor Who Quit Sarah Palin's family took advantage of the socialist health care system in Canada when her family couldn't afford to take Palin's brother to a local hospital when he was injured.  At least that's the story she recently told.  She told a different version of the story when she was campaigning--like the Bridge to Nowhere, Palin was for Canadian health care before she was against it.

Palin says her family went to Canada for health care when she was young

"Former Alaska governor Sarah Palin, a fierce opponent of Democratic health-care reform efforts who has said America under President Obama is headed toward socialism, told a Canadian audience her family used to go to Canada to get medical care when she was growing up.

"My first five years of life we spent in Skagway, Alaska, right there by Whitehorse. Believe it or not -- this was in the '60s -- we used to hustle on over the border for health care that we would receive in Whitehorse. I remember my brother, he burned his ankle in some little kid accident thing and my parents had to put him on a train and rush him over to Whitehorse and I think, isn't that kind of ironic now. Zooming over the border, getting health care from Canada," Palin said a speech Saturday night, according to the Calgary Herald."

It all depends on the meaning of "health care" for both of these hypocrites who influence millions of Americans.  Do they really know what they're for or against?  It doesn't appear they do.

Certainly not the Loony Limbaugh.

UPDATE:
"Health Reform Gaining

09 Mar 2010 04:06 pm

As this poll of polls shows, if Obama keeps up his performances like yesterday and campaigns like this day after day after day, the first poll - from YouGov/The Economist - showing a clear 53- 47 majority in favor of his reform will become a harbinger of the future. The data is already there that passing this will help the Democrats against the Republicans this fall, if you can get past the Washington bullshit. The last month has been clearly a net positive in public opinion."

Getting HC and RL leaving the country all at the same time?

Since Obama's birth certificate had to prove his citizenship SP should have to provide hospital records to prove she received treatment in Canada.

Rush wants to leave the US if it passes universal health care and go to Costa Rica a country that has universal health care?

We thought he was nuts, now we know it.

Actually the perfect country for Rush to relocate to after health care reform is passed is Somalia.

There's no goverment, no taxes, no services, and everyone is a rugged individual running around with a gun pointed at his neighbor.

Perfect for the Randians and all those anti-gummint types.

Somehow, we'll manage without the self-important gasbag.

Limbaugh's going to leave the US if healthcare passes?

He's pulling a Sean Penn and a Barbara Streisand if Obama is successful?

Going all Hollywood unless he gets his way, is he.

The jokes keep writing themselves.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 42% favor the plan while 53% are opposed. These figures include just 20% who Strongly Favor the plan and 41% who are Strongly Opposed. 3/8/10

IMHO my poll is more accurate than your wishfull thinking poll. ;-)

Shaw Kenawe said...

It's not my poll, Jim. It's Rasmussen's, which usually trends to the right.

I notice a lot of people on the right always dispute polls they don't agree with, but never question polls that show Obama's numbers slipping.

LOL!

Ah...but weren't we all impressed with GWB because he wasn't swayed by polls and he didn't read the newspaper....

He was a leader because he did what he knew was right regardless of what public opinion was popular at the time...

I believe it was said that that made him "principled"...

So, shall we all take a moment and admire a principled liberal democrat!

I say, "Here, Here...to our Commander in Chief!"

Tao, I've cited that fact many times, and the usual response is something like, "yeah, but he was right!"

Don't hold your breath waiting for anyone to acknowledge your point.

I think that last Anonymous comment was meant for Truth101.

just kidding man, you can tell Oak-town jokes now!

TAO said...

I think we need to start a collection to raise funds to

"FLY RUSH LIMBAUGH TO COSTA RICA"

The only stipulation is upon landing he has to give us his passport...

Then we can start a

"MOVE SARAH PALIN TO CANADA FUND SO SHE CAN GET HEALTHCARE"

Then we could Beam Glen Beck to the Devils Triangle.

Oso,

You caught me...

I couldn't come up with a thing for Glenn Beck except therapy....

Info on Costa Rica:

"San José, Costa Rica – Conservative talk-show host Rush Limbaugh said this week he’d go to Costa Rica for medical treatment if Congress passes proposed reforms to the US healthcare system.

That might sound like an unusual choice, since this is a country with one of the longest standing socialized healthcare systems on the planet. Everyone here (including resident foreigner), are required to pay into the government-run health system, whether they use it or not.

But Limbaugh’s choice may also serve to advertise what many Americans traveling here for medical treatment already know: Costa Rica is a fabulous place for medical tourism.

Life expectancy in this little Central American country surpasses that of the United States and at one point, back in the early 2000s when the World Health Organization rated countries’ general health, Costa Rica ranked higher (No. 36) than its northern neighbor (No. 37), despite spending 87 percent less on health care per capita.

Some who’ve studied Costa Rican health care consider it better overall, and attribute that to the fact that free coverage extends to 86.8 percent of the population.

But the Cadillac-style private hospitals at Chevy Aveo prices are what really draw 25,000 Americans to Costa Rica every year.

“People travel to Costa Rica (and) receive the same quality of medical services for a fraction of the cost,” said Jorge Cortés, president of the Council for International Promotion of Costa Rica Medicine and medical director of Hospital Biblica, one of three internationally-accredited private hospitals in Costa Rica. “When people see they can get the same surgery for three or four times less, they decide to get medical care abroad.”

Limbaugh LIES:

"On Tuesday, Mr. Limbaugh clarified his comment about leaving the United States, after “the liberal media” celebrated his vow of self-imposed exile, viewing healthcare reform as a way to rid themselves of the conservative talk show host.

“If I have to get thrown into this massive government health care insurance business and end up going to the driver's license office every day when I need to go to the doctor, yeah, I'll go to Costa Rica for treatment, not move there,” he told listeners Tuesday, according to a transcript on his website."

Rush Limbaugh clearly stated that he would MOVE to Costa Rica...

Perhaps Oxycontin is more readily available outside of the US?

Shaw Kenawe said...

TAO,

Limbaugh does that all the time. He makes an outrageous statement and then when he's called on it, he tries to weasle out of what he said.

He's not just a liar, he's a weasley little bully as well.

I have to admit that I don't like when people "back track" on their comments. Not celebrities, not talk-show hosts and ESPECIALLY not Congress (wo)men.

Even my 12 year old doesn't do that--he knows how mad it makes me.

I'd take another look at the two health care systems before dissing either Rush or Sarah. you might be surprised at what you find.

you might also take another look at the system we have already in terms of health care provided as opposed to health care insurance as possessed by people before making judgment on the system in place now. there is a big difference.

Shaw Kenawe said...

Griper,

I'm not dissing Limbaugh or Palin. I'm pointing out their hypocrisy.

Limbaugh threatened to move to a country with socialized medicine if the US passed a universal health care bill. That is contradictory.

Palin recounted the fact that her parents had to go to Canada to get medical care for her brother. If the US had such great health coverage, why did that happent?

Both these people have been against Mr. Obama's push for health care, but their words and actions are contradictory.

Limbaugh wants to leave the US if universal health care is passed and live in a country with universal health care?

Palin's parents, who were not poor, had to go to a country with socialized medicine, because they couldn't afford to get help for their injured son.

That's what the point of this post is.

No one is being dissed. Just the facts have been reported.

I would say good riddance to Rush and please take Beck, Hannity and Savage with you. But, I presume the Costa Ricans to be very nice people who surely don't deserve to have our trash dumped on them.
