FEAR AND LYING ON THE CAMPAIGN TRAIL--GOP WILL SEEK TO RAISE MONEY FOR FALL ELECTIONS, AND THEY'LL USE FEAR AND LYING TO GET IT

This is what the talking points will be about as the country approaches next fall's elections, and expect many rightwing blogs to parrot them.

The GOP shamelessly admits that the only thing they have to lure donors and voters is FEAR itself. And a generous serving of lies.

From Politico:

The Republican National Committee plans to raise money this election cycle through an aggressive campaign capitalizing on “fear” of President Barack Obama and a promise to "save the country from trending toward socialism."

The strategy was detailed in a confidential party fundraising presentation, obtained by POLITICO, which also outlines how “ego-driven” wealthy donors can be tapped with offers of access and “tchochkes.”

The presentation was delivered by RNC Finance Director Rob Bickhart to top donors and fundraisers at a party retreat in Boca Grande, Florida on February 18, a source at the gathering said.

In neat PowerPoint pages, it lifts the curtain on the often-cynical terms of political marketing, displaying an air of disdain for the party’s donors that is usually confined to the barroom conversations of political operatives.

The presentation explains the Republican fundraising in simple terms.

"What can you sell when you do not have the White House, the House, or the Senate...?" it asks.

The answer: "Save the country from trending toward Socialism!”

Manipulating donors with crude caricatures and playing on their fears is hardly unique to Republicans or to the RNC – Democrats raised millions off George W. Bush in similar terms – but rarely is it practiced in such cartoonish terms.

One page, headed “The Evil Empire,” pictures Obama as the Joker from Batman, while House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leaders Harry Reid are depicted as Cruella DeVille and Scooby Doo, respectively.

Yes, "Things That Piss Me Off..."

We are all well aware that you are a slow thinker....

Thats why the republican message of FEAR appeals to you....its an emotion not a thought."

You are quick on emotions and slow on thought.

TTPMO posted that comment over at Pam's--only TTPMO copy and pasted a shorter version here--the last paragraph only.

Couldn't come up with something new and original for this post's comment section, apparently.

In my failing to understand the beauty and pure goodness behind the President’s agenda. I was unable to understand the closed door meetings, the pay offs ot the Senators etc. And with a lesson from you lefties I have been cured of my insanity of thinking that Obama had suspicious motives you guys have taught me to love Big Barack.

to skepdick, (Your blog says "skeptic," which is it?

I see you've just started up your blog, and you're from Long Island, NY. What a surprise.

I have an idea. Why don't you visit "the malcontent." You and he have a lot in common. He'll teach you all about this blogging business.

As for your comment where you say you do not have the ability to understand the workings of this president, all I can suggest to help you better grasp the nuances is that you read all about the horse trading and back room deals that went on when the Founding Fathers had to get all the states on board to ratify the Constitution.

See, politics is the art of compromise--deal making. I know that people with pure hearts, like you, are shocked, shocked, SHOCKED! to learn that politics goes on in Washington.

Here, I have a delicately brocaded fainting couch for you to fall onto as you contemplate the horror of it all.

PS. Since you're so new to all this blogging, may I ask how on earth you found me, a liberal blogger? It seems to utterly strange that a newbie like you would find his way here on your own.

I don't post on any of the blogs you have listed as the blogs you follow. And I've never seen you comment on any of the blogs that I do follow.

How very, very strange.

Clearly the Skepdick is lonely. No one calls. No one comments. It seems no one visits. And who can blame them?

TTPMO likely feels the same.

Personally, I find that things that piss a young man (of the right-wing) off are rarely very interesting.

How about the truth? Novelty idea I’m sure for some of those-there Politicians--but for us regular Janes and Joes it’s almost like magic!

...while House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leaders Harry Reid are depicted as Cruella DeVille and Scooby Doo, respectively.

I wish they would leave Scooby out of this--he’s one of my favorite cartoons!

In all seriousness, when are people going to stop this childishness? I’m all for fun and games and I’ve joked around a bit myself--but this continued effort to depict these people this way is really old and quite immature.

Yes, Pam, it is. But the MSM LOVES it! It gets people to watch.

Meanwhile, nothing is being done, and we the people are paying the price for it.

Pamela Zydel said...

And a costly price it is, Shaw. Which is why I'm angry. These bozos are drawing cartoons while the American people are trying to feed their families, pay mortgages, fend off bill collectors and find jobs--it's ludicrous! When are they going to grow up and realize that we don’t give a crap about these childish antics--fix the problems already or get the heck out of the way so we can put in people who will!

For the most part Pamela, the public doesn't want to hear the truth. The truth is the government needs more revenue on all levels to function properly. Government has been borrowing to provide the services we need and demand a long time. The Social Security trust fund is in trouble because it was borrowed from to pay bills government didn't have the courage to raise taxes to pay for.

God forbid a politician tell the truth and say we need to raise taxes. The idiot Blago from my state of Illinois gave us that nonsense. I met him at a rally and fundraiser in Quincy and told I didn't see any way to get out of raising taxes. At the time Illinois was in a 5 billion dollar hole thanks to former governer Ryan. Rod said he could get us out of this without raising taxes. 6 years later he resigned in disgrace and the state was 11 billion in debt. California is in a deficit of 35 billion. The U.S. owes 12 trillion. Outside of a few Dems in safe districts, they still tell us they won't raise taxes. Irresponsible liars is what they are. I'm tough on republicans because they are the worst.

Thanks for stopping by, Shaw.

In an interview today, Mindless Steele said it was "unfortunate." That it was done or that they were caught?

I just posted a new video of this subject to add to you and Leslie.
This rightwing fear and hate won't work this time, they are irrelevant and I wish I could even say their party is dead, but the wingers who love this kind of hate will always be there behind their idiots. It's sickening but I believe it will backfire starting this year.

so weird how the trolls are all from NYC!! They probably work in the same building! lol

This smacks of a ploy to me. Release this incident of typical Republican propaganda in order to denounce it so that when more egregious examples come to light the Republicans can ignore them and claim 'Oh we denounced those tactics, wink-wink'.

The Republican speak to Those That Hear. The Republicans bandy about words like Revolution, Socialism, Evil, they declare the Democrats are the party of the unrighteous, the unjust, the communists, the america-haters, the homosexuals, the heathens, the damned. And the election of Obama is a sin for which United States is receiving god's just vengeance.

And then quickly wash their hands when those who hear take up the sword and attack the Government which the Republicans claim is evil and oppressive.

Of course, when the Republicans take back the Government they quash dissent violently.

The GOP chickens of mass hatred are coming home to roost. Check out what happened at the Pentagon, then take into account the crazy guy in Texas who flew his private plane into an IRS building.

All government haters out to kill.

How patriotic of the tea baggers to incite these crackpots to kill.

Keep screaming about hating the government and President Hitler, then scurry away like insects when the lights have been turned on to you.

This is so comical. Obama agrees with the GOP the overwhelming majority of the time. This feud is as fake as anything in the WWE.

Truth 101: There is no need to raise taxes on everyone. If the rich were made to pay their fair share in taxes, that would provide more than enough revenue. Stopping the Iraq War would help big time too.
