They are poles apart on the numbers of uninsured. Perry's Texas has 27.2 percent of its population without health insurance - the worst record in America. Massachusetts has an uninsured rate of 5.2 percent - the best. And yet Romney is still apologizing for this achievement.
Tell me: is it actually a Republican goal that people cannot have decent access to healthcare? Do they have any proposals to help?
That's a fair question. I've heard people on the right ask where in the Constitution does it say that people have a right to health care.
My answer is that it's in the preamble to the Constitutution where the Founding Fathers wrote this:
"We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America."
Can anyone deny that ensuring that people have access to affordable health care is promoting the general welfare? And how can people secure the blessings of liberty to themselves and their posterity if they are saddled with catastrophic medical bills that wipe out their family's financial security?
I'm thankful I live in Massachusetts, the state that helped me in one of the worst moments of my life when I faced a life-threatening illness and found my insurance was woefully inadequate and would not cover the minimal cost of fighting the disease.
Thanks to Mitt Romeny and his health care initiative, I was able to face this terrible time in my life with dignity and the security of knowing I would be able to get the medical help I needed.
President Obama took the best parts of Romney's health care initiative and passed the ACA for all Americans, thus giving all Americans the ability to secure the blessings of Liberty for themselves and their posterity.
A President Perry or Bachmann and other GOPers want to overturn President Obama's health care law. What happened to me could happen to anyone--YOU, for example. Why would anyone want to send Americans back to the days of losing their financial security and homes just because they got sick?
Think about it.

Shaw, do you suppose the Republican plan to bring down unemployment is mass deaths from untreated illnesses due to lack of health insurance?
I'm kidding of course since the GOP loves high unemployment. It allows the paying of lower wages.
JC: A financial downturn is the perfect opportunity for the Republicans to do more harm to the average working American with their proven failure to stimulate the economy: more tax breaks for the wealthy.

I would actually consider voting for Romney if he gets the nomination. Right now, he has to throw red meat to the base to get nominated. He will then tack to center in the general election and run on his record as MA. governor. I truly believe he has little chance of getting nominated because evangelical Christians believe that his religion is a cult. A Mormon will not get the nomination, Perry and Bachmann are crazy, and therefore it is a fait accompli that Obama is re-elected. He can guarantee this by ending the wars.
