You Can Bet Your Arse...

that this is not stuck on the back of a Liberal's/Democrat's car:

"But...but...we're not RACISTS!!!!"*

*GOPer/Tea Bagger.

Is THIS  what we want America to look like????

UPDATE:

The HuffPost is covering this story, showing many more racist bumper stickers that are out there.

UPDATE II:

From Yahoo News:

"The urban myth debunking site Snopes says it cannot yet determine the origins of the photo, but also points out the availability of other similar t-shirts and bumper stickers.

There is even an eponymous "Dontre-nig.com" website that appears to have crashed. Going to the page brings up a "Bandwith Limit Exceeded" warning message. I checked the domain registration service site WHOIS, which listed the site as belonging to an anonymous owner who purchased the URL through the company DomainsByProxy.com, based in Scottsdale, Arizona. The company specializes in keeping the names of Internet domain owners private.

And as one astute Facebook reader pointed out, the bumper sticker is not only offensive, it's pretty dumb. After all, if you take the top message at its literal meaning, to not renege in 2012, would mean to in fact re-elect President Obama."

It's not surprising that anyone stupid enough to place a racist bumper sticker on his/her car for the world to see is too stupid to understand that the message contradicts itself if it's trying to make a play on the word "renege."

That is so mean! I just don't support that sort of thing!

Republicans -- the party of old white racists! No wonder everyone, except old white racists, are avoiding them like the plague.

The bumper sticker is offensive, ridiculous, and yeah Shaw you're probably right. Whoever printed the sticker and whoever allows it to "fly" is racist.

Jerry, my information is democrats, just to point out that racists do indeed cross party lines, were heavily involved in the Ku Klux Klan at one time. I'm betting there are probably a few democrats in the south that still harbor racist thoughts. Although I can't prove that one. Obviously.

RN,
I suspect that most of the old Southern Democrats have become republicans, but undoubtably, there are some racist Democrats. Finding one to admit that he is either a racist or a Democrat would probably be difficult to do.

It's real alright, not like a photoshopped "teabagger with racist sign" photo:

Whether or not that specific photo is real, the fact that there's a market big enough to support the production and sale of such stickers says it all.

Shaw Kenawe said...

Thanks dmarks and Infidel753, for finding the website where that sticker is for sale.

There is a certain commenter, who has since been deleted, won't see the truth, even when it's in front of her nose.

Jerry Critter,

The GOP is becoming more and more irrelevant.

RN and Jerry Critter, I don't know. I have family and friends in Tennessee, Alabama, and Kentucky, and from what they've shared with me, racism is still a problem--and I can say as a Northeasterner, it's still here as well. The country is certainly better than in pre-Civil Rights era, but we still have work--lots of it--to do.

There are worse.

I won't repeat.

But apparently from a web site: stumpysstickers.com

My feeling is that the overt racism will be worse this election year than it was four years ago ... because now the bigots can frame their hatred as simply being against the reelection of a sitting President.

The only silver lining is that I think this is clearly the desperate last gasp of the reactionary, racist right-wing. They are angry, afraid, frantic ... and doomed.

Infidel: I'm not one to support the violence of vandalism, but... let me tell you, my strong principle on that is rather weak when I think of what I would do if I found a car with such a bumper sticker.

Lisa, your comments are being deleted without being looked at.

You're wasting your time here.

You have your own blog where you can be annoying. Go there.

Lisa said...

That must be a family member's car of Robert Byrd or perhaps a member of the Al Gore Family. But either way I hope they inflated their tires with algae to ensure better gas mileage.

Dave Miller said...

And yes Lisa, Senator Byrd and Al Gore were part of the Democratic Party's past.

As was Strom Thurmond, another Senator with a racist past.

What you, and many other uninformed GOP supporters fail to acknowledge is that the roles have flip flopped in the south.

Since the mid 60's, the party that has obstructed the march towards civil rights and full equality has been the GOP.

Richard Nixon and his famed southern strategy are primarily responsible for this.

In closing, you will find that Dems generally find stickers like the one Shaw posted offensive. What we have seen from the right leaning bloggers, is not people taking offense, rather folks like you who try and defend these stickers calling them humor, or obfuscate the facts with lame deflections to other issues.

Why can't the GOP bloggers just say you agree... These stickers and the sentiment they portray are wrong and racist and anyone who displays them is racist and offensive to a civil society?

Tell us Lisa, or be quiet...

Dave, thank you for trying to be rational with Lisa, but it's not going to do any good, I'm afraid.

I've deleted Lisa's comments from this blog [but left the one you addressed] because she has crossed the line as a blogger by allowing people to come to her blog and personally vilify other commenters.

She and those who engage in ad hominem attacks seem not to be able to grasp the simple idea that politicians and members of the media [left and right] are fair game for people to comment on, but attacking people who have not attacked her commenters is not acceptable in decent society.

One of her commenters referred to me as "vermin," another one mentioning me linked to a photo of a naked obese woman.

It is Lisa's choice to tolerate this, and it is my choice not to tolerate her, unless and until she wants to join the grown-ups in a discussion.

Her idea of having a discussion on the issues is to taunt and run or not address facts that refute her comments.

It is useless to try to deal with a person like that.

Shaw Kenawe said...

And from Andrew Sullivan's blog, here's something to think about as it applies my reasoning for deleting Lisa's taunts and trolling.

"Dan O'Connor blasts what blog comment sections have become:

It is time, I think, for us to accept that disabling or deleting idiot comments is no more anti-democratic or elitist than refusing to engage with a person harrassing you on the street.

Just because everyone is allowed to have their say, it does not follow that the bilge they say is worth listening to. I love the internet. I love social media. And the only way we will save them from themselves is by accepting that, more often than not, comments are rubbish."

But I thought I've been made to understand that it's the LEFT that hates, not the RIGHT... I believe the exact words were 'a breathtaking level of hatred' on the Leftist blogs lately.

Uh.. whose?
