Wednesday is Trump Hump Day

Our closest ally, Britain, just isn't that into the Trumper:

Hilariously, No one spoke in Trump’s defense during three hours of debate in the British Parliament about barring him from the country (The Donald can still go to the U.K.).

The British think he's a buffoon and a fool and hundreds of thousands of them wanted to ban him from entering their country. Just the sort of president to make all Americans proud!

He's hated all over Europe!

Former Secretary of Defense, Republican Robert Gates on Trump's (and Cruz's) naive and reckless foreign policies:

Former Defense Secretary Robert Gates on Tuesday blasted the Republican field for their rhetoric on destroying the Islamic State.

“First of all they, they don’t know what they’re talking about,” Gates told MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”

Front-runner Donald Trump has said as president he would “bomb the s---” out of the Islamic State, while rival Ted Cruz has suggested carpet bombing them into oblivion.

“Carpet bombing would be completely useless. It’s totally contrary to the American way of war,” said Gates, who was appointed by former President George W. Bush and also served under President Barack Obama. “Total disregard for civilians. So, I mean, part of the concern that I have with the campaign, particularly when it comes to national security, is that the solutions being offered are so simplistic and so at odds with the reality of the rest of the world, with the way the world really works.”

Alluding to political outsiders Trump and retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson, Gates challenged their ability to be an effective president. “I will tell you this: I do think that politics is a profession,” he said. “And I think that if you don’t have any experience in how government works, if you have never been in government, your ability to make the government work is going to be significantly reduced."

“It’s different than business,” he continued. “It’s different than surgery. It’s different than anything else. It’s a skill set that you bring based on experience and based on dealing with other people.”

In 2008, the Goopers were vein-popping enraged over the fact that Senator Barack Obama had so little government experience yet was seeking the highest office in the land.  But now the Goopers are supporting a TV personality and casino owner who's never served a day in any political office. And the thing they like the best about Trumper is that he's not pc!, which means he's a foul-mouthed baboon with no diplomatic skills whatsoever.

Trump is an Evangelical's dream:

Greg Sargent of the Washington Post takes a look at a campaign angle that is getting a lot of attention: why is Trump polling so well with white evangelicals? All this has deeply puzzled some evangelical leaders.

The Post quotes one evangelical leader describing Trump as a “thrice married owner of casinos with strip clubs,” and adding that he is “the most immoral and ungodly man to ever run for President of the United States.”

The Trumper's negatives are really, really high!

Donald Trump Is Really Unpopular With General Election Voters

Most Americans really don’t like the guy.

Contra Rupert Murdoch’s assertion about Trump having crossover appeal, Trump is extraordinarily unpopular with independent voters and Democrats.

Gallup polling conducted over the past six weeks found Trump with a -27-percentage-point net favorability rating among independent voters, and a -70-point net rating among Democrats; both marks are easily the worst in the GOP field. (Trump also has less-than-spectacular favorable ratings among his fellow Republicans.)

And finally, the Trumper gets the Pancakehead Endorsement!

[Sarah Palin's] "net favorability rating among Republicans has declined more than 55 percentage points, from +83 percentage points to +27 points by mid-2013."

Palin, noted 538, had become so politically irrelevant that pollsters stopped polling about her. No one cared any longer. Until today -- until she decided to endorse Donald Trump, which will put her back in the headlines for 24 or maybe 48 hours. Which, probably, is the entire point of Palin's endorsement: anything for some lipstick on a pig. - PmCarpenter

From Politico:

“It’s just classless,” said a former senior adviser to McCain of the endorsement, predicting it would backfire. “It’s undermining to a key Trump message which is one of competency.

What Trump has said is that he’s going to hire the very best people and bring in men of Carl Icahn’s ilk … and he’s appearing with someone who’s viewed as one of America’s most astounding morons.”

Who's surprised to see like attract like? Good work Donald you deserve her.

Most fitting endorsement ever! It's like a nuclear critical mass of stupid.

I agree with the last guy in the British video. The best way to deal with something like Trump is ridicule -- and there's no shortage of targets there.

Gates talks sense as always. These idiots who are so sure they know what to do about the Middle East while having no clue what's going on there are driving me up the wall!

And thank goodness Trump is still unpopular with the general public. I guess the idiot vote isn't an absolute majority yet.

Palin's Trump endorsement: Epic imbecility.

I've lived long enough to confidently say that this is the most embarrassing time in American politics. A demagogue gets an endorsement from a quitter/loser idiot and the fringe right is sure that'll put Trump in the White House? Don't people remember how she helped John McCain lose the presidency? Her quitting her governorship? Her dysfunctional family? Her high negatives? How will a woman who is globally disliked escept for the loonies on the right gonna make things great for Trump?

Track Palin, the 26-year-old son of the one-time GOP vice presidential nominee, was arrested for battering his girlfriend during the Monday night fracas, police said.

News of the arrest came Tuesday, just as the elder Palin prepared to endorse Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump during an event in Iowa.

Track Palin was scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday afternoon on charges of fourth-degree assault, interfering with the report of a domestic violence crime and possession of a firearm while intoxicated. All the charges are Class A misdemeanors.

The oldest of Sarah Palin’s five children, Track allegedly punched his girlfriend in the eye, kicked her in the knee and then held an AR-15 assault rifle near his head, the 22-year-old woman told police who responded to the incident just after 10 p.m. Monday.

At one point, Track was “holding onto a gun, yelling ‘do you think I’m a p—y?’ and ‘do you think I won’t do it?’”

I'm putting this out there for discussion:

Apparently there are a few evangelical pastors who don't think Trump best represents their values, but an awful lot of them do. In fact, they positively adore him. Yet I can't help but think of how outraged and embarrassed those same evangelical Christians who find Trump's latest endorser, Sarah Palin, would be if the Obama family had had a daughter who had 2 out-of-wedlock babies by different fathers and a son who got arrested for domestic violence and drunkenness, and other children who were involved in drunken brawls. Yet they cheered Palin and still see her as representative of their family values, hoping to transfer that support to Trump.

The right wing Christians certainly show an inordinate tolerance for that behavior in Palin's family, but when Mrs. Obama suggested that American school children eat more healthy food and exercise more, they went berserk and called her every name in the book, including Commie!

And how silent the right wing Christians are about the current and 3rd Mrs. Trump whose soft porn photos are all over the internet and would be plastered worldwide as our FLOTUS, should their dreams of Trump becoming president come true. Those same right wingers were spittle-flecking mad whenever Mrs. Obama -- who's showed nothing more than her bare arms -- appeared in photos with her husband and daughters.

The right wingers, IMO, have no core values. They easily and shamelessly trade whatever values they pretended to have in for whomever they believe will deliver them their political goals -- in this case, the White House.

I don't respect a group of people so shallow that they'd support a family that they'd denigrate and reject if it were a liberal family or a liberal candidate,( but with Trump's baggage) they'd annihilate with damnation and ridicule if he and his wife were auditioning to be the First Family.

Shaw, I think it has something to do with "Love the sinner." Or maybe they're just morons. Borowitz's job is getting too easy.

I loved the picture of Sarah in her brand new, leopard-skin, pancake hat.

Wanted to suggest that with Terrible Ted rising in the polls, maybe you should start doing a Cruz Tuzday.

What did Trump hope to gain from Palin's endorsement. She has a 27% approval rating with voters -- the GOPers don't like her! Herpes is more popular than she is.

Cruz Tuzday? Hilarious, but I'm worn out just keeping up with the Trump Hump Day. But I'll give it more thought.

Re: Hat the sin, love the sinner. You're generous. But I think it's more about what I suggested: Their values are not real, only for show. It's out there for anyone to see, they drop their values as soon as any scoundrel comes along and woos them with dreams of "Taking Back My Country!" If thrice married Trump and his centerfold wifey and the Dysfunctional Palin Clan doesn't disgust them, then nothing does so long as their candidates deliver for them. They denigrate "crony capitalism," but practice something worse: Hallelujah Hypocrisy.

Dave: "As for the speech by Palin, I WS reading a little of it this AM... I dare anyone to diagram a few of those sentences..."

The Queen of Word Salad did it again. No one can best her at it!

"Where in the private sector you actually have to balance budgets in order to prioritize, to keep the main thing the main thing, and he knows, the main thing a president is to keep us safe economically and militarily. He knows the main thing and he knows how to lead the charge. So troops, hang in there because help’s on the way because HE, better than anyone isn’t he known for being able to command…. FIRE?!"

Palin unsurprisingly doesn't know that "the main thing a president is[sic] to keep us safe economically and militarily."

A US President's "main thing" is to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States of America."

Palin's sadly benighted where facts are concerned but deliciously proud of her ignorance that she trots out every chance she gets for the world to see and snicker at.

This makes no sense unless La Trump is under the very mistaken impression that Tina Fey's career needs a boost.
Must be a pitch to the Tea Bags in Iowa but I'm surprised anyone thinks she matters.
@shaw - "She has a 27% approval rating with voters". But where is she with the Iowa caucus nutlogs?

If La Trump wins Iowa could there be a quid pro quo deal with Palin of all people?

I enjoyed Trump's mention of Palin's fantastic family just as the news was coming out about young Track waving a loaded gun during a drunken domestic violence arrest.

I just don't know. It's just a series of surprises on the crazy bus.

Sarah Palin said Trump isn't an elitist. Nah. A billionaire with a private jet is just like us average folks.

Thanks for your usual brilliant insight, Sarah.

Just like Americans, no matter what Trump says, the Brits still did not ban him and Americans still think he is presidential material.

So Trump got another endorsement only this time it was from a dead man, Marion Morrison a/k/a John Wayne by way of his daughter? Perfect. An endorsement from a dead bigot to a living bigot:

This is what Wayne said in a 1971 Playboy interview:

"I believe in white supremacy, until the blacks are educated to a point of responsibility. I don’t believe giving authority and positions of leadership and judgment to irresponsible people … I don’t feel we did wrong in taking this great country away from [the Native Americans] … Our so-called stealing of this country from them was just a matter of survival. There were great numbers of people who needed new land, and the Indians were selfishly trying to keep it for themselves."

Bigots and racists are always welcome in the T-GOP.

Unreal:

While speaking at a Donald Trump campaign stop Wednesday in Tulsa, Okla., Sarah Palin addressed the "elephant in the room": her son Track's domestic violence arrest. And she seemingly pinned it on a perceived lack of respect for military veterans on the part of President Obama.

"My son, like so many others, they come back a bit different, they come back hardened," she said. "They come back wondering if there is that respect for what it is that their fellow soldiers and airman and every other member of the military so sacrificially have given to this country," she added. "And that starts from the top."

This dimwit blames President Obama for her shitty parenting skills? Was Obama to blame for her daughters two out-of-wedlock babies too? Trump deserves this wreck of a human being and her trashy family as well. He can add his three marriages and naked wife to Palin's nuthouse of a family. Won't America be proud of that combination for Prez. and Vice? The Palins and the Trumps: Our National Nightmare come true.
