Hillary is the Presumptive Nominee for the Democrats

The Democratic Party for the second time in 8 years has made history with its presumptive nominee.

Congratulations to Secretary Clinton.

And congratulations to Bernie Sanders for his historic candidacy as well.

Now it's time for Hillary to heal the wounds from the long and often contentious primary battle and go on to defeat the Republican Party's racist and temperamentally unfit nominee, Donald J. Trump.

Reuters:

Clinton also harshly attacked Donald Trump, 69, her presumptive Republican rival in the Nov. 8 presidential election, for using divisive rhetoric that belittled women, Muslims and immigrants.

She took specific aim at his condemnation of an Indiana-born judge of Mexican heritage. "The stakes in this election are high and the choice is clear. Donald Trump is temperamentally unfit to be president and commander-in-chief," Clinton said.

"When Donald Trump says a distinguished judge born in Indiana can’t do his job because of his Mexican heritage, or he mocks a reporter with disabilities, or calls women pigs, it goes against everything we stand for," she said.

A Reuters/Ipsos poll released on Tuesday showed Clinton leading Trump by 10 percentage points nationally as they launch their general election battle, little changed from a week earlier.

It is unfortunate HRC does not make it as easy to warm up to her as Trump did to disdain and even despise him. Be that as it may. Hopefully HRC is able to dispose of tRump in a landslide election. Thus showcasing him for what he is, the Greatest Political Loser.

It is a shame the democrats have to spend so much money on their entitlement candidate defeating a non democrat socialist. It just shows how disliked she is even by her own party.
Now the only hope is an indictment, fat chance, and Joe entering to save the party. To H--- with the country it is all about the party, democrat or republican.

Your despair is duly noted, skud.

If anyone is indicted, it appears it could be the Republican presidential candidate for fraud, elder abuse, and bait and switch. You hilariously say "it is all about the party," when the Republican Party leaders are willing to support a racist woman hating, disabled person mocker, anti-Latino, Hispanic, Muslim, fraud. Good luck to the Republicans with their candidate.

Trump makes Hillary look like George Washington.

Yeah, she's just one of the regular people, who truly cares for the less fortunate.

Like that $12,495 Giorgio Armani Jacket she was wearing 😬

Shaw Kenawe said...

NiMN,

Is that all you've got? A pricey jacket she wore back in April?

Have you seen this?

Inside Donald Trump's New $100 Million Private Jet

Trump has also spoken out on income inequality while flying around the country in his private jet, then going home to his Louis XVI digs.

Meh, $12,000 vs. $100 million? And that's just his private jet. Have you seen his 33,000 sq. ft. penthouse in Trump Tower? Marie Antoinette would be envious of its gilt and brocade splendor.

Smarter trolls please.

It's an amazing thing, but some far right bloggers are actually siding against Judge Curiel and with Trump, explaining that the judge just has to be biased because he belongs to a law association that has "La Raza" in its name. Of course they'd side with Trump because party is more important to them than morality and their country, so I'm not surprised there. But a little research would have uncovered the meaning of the term "la raza" to Latinos and Hispanics. Since they seem not to have the intellectual honesty to do any research, here it is:

The San Diego La Raza Lawyers Association explicitly notes on its website that translating la raza “as ‘the race’ is not only inaccurate, it is factually incorrect”:

Many people incorrectly translate the name, “La Raza,” as “the race.” While it is true that one meaning of “raza” in Spanish is indeed “race,” in Spanish, as in English and any other language, words can and do have multiple meanings. As noted in several online dictionaries, “La Raza” means “the people” or “the community.”

Translating our name as “the race” is not only inaccurate, it is factually incorrect. “Hispanic” is an ethnicity, not a race. As anyone who has ever met a Dominican American, Mexican American, or Spanish American can attest, Hispanics can be and are members of any and all races.

[...]

Mistranslating “La Raza” to mean “the race” implies that it is a term meant to exclude others. In fact, the full term coined by [Mexican scholar José] Vasconcelos, “La Raza Cósmica,” meaning the “cosmic people,” was developed to reflect not purity but the mixture inherent in the Hispanic people. This is an inclusive concept, meaning that Hispanics share with all other peoples of the world a common heritage and destiny.

[...]

Conservative media have a long history of attempting to smear Latino civil rights organizations with "la raza" in their name, based on this culturally incompetent translation*.

*And their willfully ignorant biases.

Anon, Essentially the point I made, though not as well as you, on one of those blogs.

Thanks for weighing in on that...

As you suggested might happen, Shaw, the right wing blogs are attacking this judge with gusto.

They seem less pro Trump than anti Hispanic.
I would expect this would all further narrow the Drumpf base of support as more moderates just get sick of him but no aspect of the Republican election cycle has been predictable other than the absolute crass nature of the candidate.

Ducky: "As you suggested might happen, Shaw, the right wing blogs are attacking this judge with gusto."

Of course they are. The extremist conservatives have been on the wrong side of history and issues on race for so long that there's no hope of their seeing the proverbial forest for the trees. Trump is being attacked SPECIFICALLY for his racist remarks about Judge Curiel -- he called him a hateful Mexican -- and for his other racist and sexist remarks -- that a Muslim judge and even a female judge could not ever be fair to him in his pending case before the law. As I commented, why hasn't anyone asked him if a German-heritage judge or a Scottish-heritage judge could be impartial?

Trump is being strongly criticized for his racist remarks -- I don't think "La Raza" has anything to do with this, although the crazies on the far right will pick at this issue until they find the smallest nit to say SEE! Trump was right! The judge is a racist!!

We don't expect rational thought or reasoning from people who belong to a party that has Donald J. Trump as its presumptive nominee. Those people have been deliriously out of their minds since January 20, 2009, and it's only gotten worse since then. Trump is the natural outcome of their crazed bigotry.

Digby talks about Hillary's win:

...the reason no one has ever broken the glass ceiling in American politics is because it's really fucking hard to break. Before Clinton, no one even came close.

Whether you like Clinton or hate her — and plenty of Americans hate her — it's time to admit that the reason Clinton was the one to break it is because Clinton is actually really good at politics.

She's just good at politics in a way we haven't learned to appreciate.

Klein goes on to observe that politics inherently favors male traits because well, it's always been a man's game! And Clinton doesn't do particularly well at the big rally, strutting around, ginning up the crowd kind of politics. In fact, many people can't understand how she can possibly be winning unless she's cheating somehow.

But she's winning too big for that. Before last night her winning margin in the popular vote was bigger than any Democratic presidential primary candidate in the last 30 years.

Will she be a second time loser?
If she loses to Trump, she will go down in history as the biggest political loser in American history.

Allow me a simple boast, a point of pride.

California cast more votes for the Bern than we did for the Strumpet.

Of course, all of the independents had to register democratic to support their man, but 3,475,720 votes cast for the democratic party vs. 1,560,820 votes for the republican party looks pretty nice on paper. The real story is, of course, the dismal turnout. We should have at least ten million people voting in California. In San Diego, republican turnout is strong even though their numbers lag. They trounced us.

Still, Reagan Country can still be a very nice place to live.

The lesson is that elections are decided by ridiculously low margins. Get out there and vote. It's the American way. Even our boy wonder, Barack Hussein Obama got less than 69.5 million votes in 2008.

Hillary Clinton has never been the nominee for the presidency, so she's never run the first time as a presidential candidate of a political party, therefore, she cannot be a "second time loser."

"Think they've figured out they've stepped in the caca?"

No. They'd never admit the current GOP has been degraded to the point of having a racist buffoon, who may be indicted for elder abuse and fraud because of his fake university, as the representative of what the Party of Lincoln has become.

Green Eagle is far more eloquent than I:

"Personally, I want Trump to stay, because he really is the personification of the Republican party. They need to live or die based on what they really are, not on some hastily scabbed together illusion strung around the neck of Paul Ryan or whomever. They need to have to do this, not for their own benefit, but for the country's. It is time to fight the battle between decency and the most despicable of human emotions, before this gets any more out of control. If we keep giving the right a chance to run people with Trump's values, pretty soon a slicker one will come along, and then we can discover for ourselves how things went wrong in Germany in the 1930's."

Ducky... I wonder if soon we will be hearing that Hugh Hewitt is a RINO, like anyone else who disagrees with the far right?

More sweeping was Thomas Friedman's column in the NY Times today. He basically called out the hypocritical leaders of the GOP for putting party over country.

Dave Miller said...

And now conservative money man Charles Koch said he cannot support Trump because "he is taking the country in the wrong direction."

Another RINO I suspect...

Dave: "...for putting party over country."

It's difficult to respect people who'd vote for an unstable know-nothing racist demagogue just because he has an "R" (a recent "R" at that) after his name. But I've been reading the far right blogs, and they are willing to do that. They do not deserve anyone's respect.

BTW, they are definitely running scared because I have never had so many of them come to this blog and leave comments as they have over the past few days. I've saved some of the more pathetic screeds so I can post them after Hillary wins in November.

Like that $12,495 Giorgio Armani Jacket she was wearing 😬

MOSTLY FALSE
WHAT'S TRUE: Hillary Clinton wore an Armani jacket priced between $7,000 and $12,000 in April 2016; the sartorial choice became an issue several months later after a New York newspaper reported on it.

WHAT'S FALSE: The jacket was several thousand dollars less expensive than reported; high-profile figures are often loaned designer items by large brands.

WHAT'S UNDETERMINED: Whether Clinton purchased the coat herself; whether the item was priced at $12,495 in April 2016.

That doesn't stop the low-information Stench Trenchers from making stupid claims that they know nothing about. They read stuff on the internet and believe it, just like the idiots believed the story about Hillary making the gorilla and the little boy in Cincinnati story a racial story.

Their stupidity and gullibility is epic. No wondeer Trump won the Rethuglican nomination.

Here's the GOP's nominee in all his corruption:

State attorneys general who dropped Trump University fraud inquiries subsequently got Trump donations

Where I come from, we call that bribery.

"Bribery

The offering, giving, receiving, or soliciting of something of value for the purpose of influencing the action of an official in the discharge of his or her public or legal duties. The expectation of a particular voluntary action in return is what makes the difference between a bribe and a private demonstration of goodwill. To offer or provide payment in order to persuade someone with a responsibility to betray that responsibility is known as seeking Undue Influence over that person's actions. When someone with power seeks payment in exchange for certain actions, that person is said to be peddling influence. Regardless of who initiates the deal, either party to an act of bribery can be found guilty of the crime independently of the other.

A bribe can consist of immediate cash or of personal favors, a promise of later payment, or anything else the recipient views as valuable."

The Goopers love to call Hillary a "Krook" and "Crooked." What name do they have for the guy they're supporting for the presidency? A man who BRIBED attorney generals in their state to call off the suit on Trump U.?

Where I come from, we would call that guy a CROOK!
