February is Black History Month

(Which is despised and mocked by all good white supremacists and racists)

On the occasion of the beginning of Black History month, our IQ-challenged preznit had this to say about a truly heroic man who began life as a slave and became one of America's greatest heroes in fighting against slavery and for civil rights for the emancipated African-Americans:

President Trump on Wednesday praised famed abolitionist Frederick Douglass as “someone who’s done an amazing job.”

Speaking to a group of African-American leaders at the White House, Trump acknowledged he is aware of Douglass’s accomplishments.

“Frederick Douglass is an example of someone who’s done an amazing job and is being recognized more and more, I noticed,” he said.

This is exactly the sort of thing you say when you know nothing about a person --  especially a famous historic figure.  Trump's comment is a one-size-fits-all description that could have been used to describe your local plumber.

This is the sort of clown America gets as its leader when many of its citizens prize b.s., razzle-dazzle, and fatuity over intelligence.

My 12 year old grandson wrote a report on Frederick Douglass last year. He would have given a more specific and knowledgeable answer than the bullcrap that came out of trump's ridiculous mouth.

Read the full transcript HERE

The preznit talked about how he's going to win even bigger next time; how he doesn't watch the "fake" news cable teevee station, CNN; and then he continued to brag about himself and congratulate the lackeys who surrounded him during this vomit-worthy rambling nothing-burger of a self-congratulatory comment on Black History Month.

That's what we'll continue to hear from this self-absorbed narcissistic bully of a

It's always all about him.

February is also Presidents' month.  Here what brilliant President 37% had to say about President Abraham Lincoln.:

Digby on the preznit's moronic comments on the first day of Black History month:

It makes you proud to be an American doesn't it? Where else could a man with mind of an eight year old become president?

To be honest, that isn't even funny. There's something wrong with this man and the people he has around him are no better. It's getting scarier by the day.

Spicer is as much of a dumbass as is trump:

When asked in press meeting what trump meant by his statements on Douglass, Spicer said:

"I think he wants to highlight the contributions that he has made," Spicer responded. "And I think through a lot of the actions and statements that he's going to make, I think the contributions of Frederick Douglass will become more and more."

Whose "actions and statements" that who will make? The contributions of Frederick Douglass "will become more and more." WTF?

It pretty apparent neither trump nor spicer know who the hell Frederick Douglass was.

Spicer isn't the preznit. trump is. And that's terrifying. What, besides casinos, beauty queens, and grabbing women's crotch, does trump actually know?

I believe he thinks Frederick Douglass is still alive.

Toronto Star:

WASHINGTON—Happy Black History Month, everyone. Have you heard about the greatness and persecution of Donald J. Trump?

The president of the United States held an “African-American History Month listening session” in the Roosevelt Room of the White House on Wednesday. He began with a five-minute monologue that was more about himself — his campaign, his popularity, his alleged mistreatment by the media — than it was about African-Americans.

It was similar in style to his speech a week and a half prior in front of the memorial wall at the Central Intelligence Agency: conventional scripted statements mixed with a distinctly Trumpian improvised stew of boasting, complaining and rambling. This one elicited the same kind of offence from the black community as that one did the intelligence community.

“OH. MY. EFFING. GAWD. Trump’s Black History Month speech is an abomination,” Sil Lai Abrams, author of the book Black Lotus, wrote in a representative post on Twitter.

Trump’s remarks bore no resemblance not only to the Black History Month speeches of Democrat Barack Obama, the first black president, but to those of Republican George W. Bush.

Our neighbors to the north AND south see trumps as self-centered buffoon.

Ducky: "I believe he thinks Frederick Douglass is still alive."

Of course he does. And so does his mouthpiece, Spicer.

Meanwhile the National Security Advisor has put Iran "on notice," Russian is moving toward Ukraine and trouble, and Bannon has said we'll be at war with China within three years.

Four weeks ago, none of this was true.

Republicans are excellent at dragging American into wars and at causing recessions and depressions.

Go job, American minority voters. Do you have children, grandchildren ready to die in Iran, Ukraine, or China? Donald Trump doesn't. He's gonna make yours make the ultimate sacrifice for his raging stupidity.

next time president cheeto tries to talk about an American historical hero someone should give him some notes about who that person is so trump doesn't look like the pathetic ignornat asshole that he is

He's been active on the regulation elimination front also. The first repeal was the "stream protection act".

The act mandates testing and monitoring of waterways before, during and after mining operations, and requires companies that have used controversial practices like mountaintop removal mining to restore land to its “previous condition” after operations are finished. It updates regulations that were more than three decades old.

It has to pass the Senate which shouldn't be an issue. Maybe President Happy Hands will veto the repeal.

So there you are coal country. Not only are you going to lose your health insurance the mines can go back to polluting yo. ur waterways. Two bagger, you're going to love this disaster of an administration.

Trump noticed that Frederick Douglass was being noticed more and more. Did he mention Douglass has has a million "likes" on fb too? Maybe El Trumpo should invite him to the White House, to get to know him. I hear Douglass has a great sense of humor.

Check out the reports leaking out of the Trump calls to foreign leaders. He has apparently threatened to invade Mexico and reports of his call to the Prime Minister of Australia are almost incredible. Apparently he did not neglect to boast of his great Electoral College victory before becoming bizarrely hostile. America what have you done? This guy is just plain nuts.

From the Sydney Morning Herald:

... At one point, Mr Trump informed Mr Turnbull that he had spoken with four other world leaders that day — including Russian President Vladimir Putin — and that "this was the worst call by far".

Mr Trump's behaviour suggests that he is capable of subjecting world leaders, including close allies, to a version of the vitriol he frequently employs against political adversaries and news organisations in speeches and on Twitter.
-----------
From TPM:

"The excerpt obtained by AP does not specifically identify who Trump meant by "bad hombres" or mention the response of the Mexican leader.

"You have a bunch of bad hombres down there," Trump told Peña Nieto, according to the report. "You aren't doing enough to stop them. I think your military is scared. Our military isn't, so I just might send them down to take care of it.""

Cuckoo bananas it is.

And the Daily Mail reported this little nugget:

EXCLUSIVE: Trump's Supreme Court pick founded and led club called 'Fascism Forever' at his elite all-boys Washington prep school

So, will Lord Dumpnut* change the SCOTUS uniform from black robes to Camicie Nere**?

*Some clever person found that "Lord Dumpnut" is an anagram of "Donald Trump." Perfect.

**Italian for black shirts (Mussolini's paramilitary wing of the Fascist Party).

PLEASE NOTE: EXCLUSIVE: Trump's Supreme Court pick founded and led club called 'Fascism Forever' at his elite all-boys Washington prep school

Well, at least he didn't start a club called "Communism Forever!" That would have been bad for his reputation and confirmation. Fascism Forever?! Meh. He'll fit right in with Lord Dumpnut's gang.

Shaw Kenawe said...

Meanwhile, Frederick Douglass trolls Lord Dumpnut from the grave.

Best tweet from FD: @realFrederickDouglass: My keynote speech at Emancipation Memorial was highest rated speech with biggest crowd ever! DISHONEST CNN chose not to cover it. TERRIBLE!

And the great Mr. Douglass responds.

Pres EPN says Trump did not talk about invading or sending troops into Mexico. Take that with the proverbial grain of salt.

Elsewhere, Trump is the talk of the town down here south of the border. And it's not good. My job has been made harder since his election.

Most people here will affirm his America First stance... they just wish he'd have some humility and class doing it.

How about recognizing the Blak Lives Matter Group for a National Holiday ?

Shaw Kenawe said...

StM, February Black History Month already does that by acknowledging the contributions that African-Americans have made to this country.

Dave: "Most people here will affirm his America First stance... they just wish he'd have some humility and class doing it."

There's nothing wrong with standing up for one's country. However, the "America First" slogan is really a slogan that says "ME FIRST." That describes Lord Dumbnut perfectly, but it is not a good ethos for a nation that is supposed to be the "shining city upon the hill." Trump's vision of America is "short, nasty, and brutish."

PS. The word "humility" is not in Lord Dumpnut's lexicon -- and he has no class. We've known that for decades. He's what many would label as "degenerate."

At the National Prayer Breakfast, President 37% talked about the ratings for The Apprentice and hot Arnold Schwartzenegger's ratings are much lower than his were, so he asked all present to pray for Arnold.

It's ALWAYS about him, even when the subject is God.

"...ratings for The Apprentice and hot Arnold..."

"...ratings for The Apprentice and THAT Arnold..."

Dave, I noticed one news agency that denied the content of the Trump call to the Mexican president and at the same time there are others still reporting the "more abrasive" content.

Is it possibly that president Nieto is downplaying the contents out of fear that Trump is going to cause a radical shift to the left in Mexico?

Remember when Trump claimed Hillary didn't have the stamina to be president?

Now his staff is saying he yelled at Australian Prime Minister because he was tired.

PM Carpenter:

U.S. military officials: Trump screwed up in Yemen

From Reuters:

U.S. military officials [say] that Trump approved his first covert counterterrorism operation without sufficient intelligence, ground support or adequate backup preparations.

The Yemen strike killed an American soldier (Trump's first) as well as innocent locals, including women and children. The raid was doubtless co-approved by Trump's permanent National Security Councilor and private svengali, Steve Bannon, who, says a WH colleague, possesses a "truly strategic mind." It is recommended that members of the National Security Council also strategically possess sufficient intelligence, ground support and adequate backup preparations before approving a military strike. Yet Bannon may be forgiven these lapses, for he knows as much about national security and military operations as did George W.'s pet goat.

Of greater interest is Trump's reaction to Reuter's reporting. There's nothing on his Twitter account so far, and I doubt there will be. How does an inexperienced, incompetent commander in chief criticize America's chosen ones — sainted U.S. military officials — for criticizing the commander in chief's incompetence, without underscoring it?

From the Sydney Morning Herald:

Presumably someone who stood up to Margaret Thatcher, Kerry Packer, and Conrad Black has seen bravado and alpha-male bullying before.

Heroically, the government still hopes to salvage its deal over the 1250 refugees, despite equivocations and a bizarre tweet by Trump on Thursday afternoon which appears to have all but killed it off.

The pre-eminent danger now is not this precarious deal, but the risk of sustained damage to the US-Australian relationship.

Trump is now gainsaying his own private commitments, via Twitter. This is an extraordinary situation and one that is almost impossible to manage. American prestige is on the line.

World leaders be warned: Trump's conversations are not private and his word, unreliable.
