The Republican plan offers less assistance to older and lower-income Americans, especially in rural areas, according to the Kaiser data. These groups generally backed Mr. Trump. Most of all, President Trump’s white working-class supporters often make enough money to be ineligible for Medicaid, but not enough to afford costly health insurance that might even become more expensive under the Republican plan.
Paul Ryan says ‘fatal conceit of Obamacare’ is healthy people are subsidizing the sick
Where has he been all his life?
Oh, right. He's been working in government all his life and having his health insurance subsidized by the American taxpayers.
The most fundamental concept of insurance is that people pool together to deal with universal risks and circumstances (prenatal coverage, for example). People pay fire insurance for their homes and never have a fire; people pay collision insurance for their cars but never have an accident.
Ryan appears to be an idiot if he doesn't know that is how insurance works.
This is for frequent commenter, skudrunner:
From Peter Weber of "The Week:"
This is not the first time House Republicans have asked about men having to buy maternity coverage, The Washington Post notes, and it isn't always men asking. Nancy Metcalf, an insurance expert and Consumer Reports columnist, answered the question in 2013:
Health insurance, like all insurance, works by pooling risks. The healthy subsidize the sick, who could be somebody else this year and you next year. Those risks include any kind of health care a person might need from birth to death — prenatal care through hospice. No individual is likely to need all of it, but we will all need some of it eventually.
So, as a middle-aged childless man you resent having to pay for maternity care or kids' dental care. Shouldn't turnabout be fair play?
Shouldn't pregnant women and kids be able to say, "Fine, but in that case why should we have to pay for your Viagra, or prostate cancer tests, or the heart attack and high blood pressure you are many times more likely to suffer from than we are?"
Once you start down that road, it's hard to know where to stop. If you slice and dice risks, eventually you don't have a risk pool at all, and the whole idea of insurance falls apart."
YOUR MODERN REPUBLICAN PARTY:
Republican lawmaker says cancer patients can go to the ER for health care
One of those Republicans is Florida Representative Ron DeSantis, who is a member of the House Freedom Caucus, which controls enough seats in the lower chamber to effectively veto any health care bill.
When Erin Burnett on CNN asked DeSantis how he and his colleagues would address the story of Tiffany Koehler, a Donald Trump voter and cancer survivor who says she is only alive today because of Obamacare’s Medicaid expansion, he suggested that anyone without health insurance could still just go to the emergency room.
Do we need more evidence of GOP idiocy? These people are making life and death decisions for Americans, and they've shown themselves to be barely functioning morons where health insurance is concerned.

An interesting read. Thank you. Love love, Andrew. Bye.
In one sentence, Ryan defines the purpose of Trumpcare...or perhaps more appropriately called Trumpdontcare.
The hubris of the GOP knows no bounds.
As if their views on the ACA and how insurance works were not enough, today the Labor Department released new job numbers. Apparently now the numbers are accurate and the 42% "real unemployment numbers" these partisan hacks cited for 8 years has now been fixed by the Trump Admin.
Incredible how this crowd works.
And people believe them... or don't and just prefer to follow them, truth be damned.
