TRUMP'S CAMPAIGN MANAGER, PAUL MANAFORT AND ASSOCIATE RICK GATES, SURRENDER TO FBI

CLEVELAND, OH - JULY 21: Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump (L) and his daughter Ivanka Trump (R) work with campaign manager Paul Manafort (2nd R) while testing the teleprompters and microphones on stage before the start of the fourth day of the Republican National Convention on July 21, 2016 at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio. Ivanka will introduce her father before he gives his acceptance speech tonight, the final night of the convention. (Photo by Chip Somodevilla/Getty Images)

Former Trump Campaign Manager Paul Manafort To Surrender In Russia Probe

Former Manafort business associate Rick Gates also is expected to be charged.

Ryan Lizza: "Unlike Manafort, who was forced out last year, Gates continued to work on the Trump campaign and even the inaugural committee."

"The addition of Gates suggests that the Oleg Deripaska connection might be central here. Gates worked on a failed deal involving all 3."

Never in United States history have criminal indictments been handed down to a president's close associates in such a short period of time.

Trump and his supporters will find ways to deceive themselves into thinking this is all a "hoax," or Hillary's fault, but reality will bleed through eventually when more indictments are handed down to more of Trump's people.

More to come...

George Papadopolous is noted in indictments -- very close foreign policy advisor to Trump  has pled guilty to  lying to the FBI in Mueller's Russia probe. (Otherwise known in Trump circles as a "hoax.")

It appears the admin of DJT misspoke when they said "no connection" "no collusion" "fake news" and more.

You can bet the crazies will not deal with this directly but will choose to yell "But Hillary" in between "Benghazi Benghazi Benghazi!"

And we should remind folks... no major scandals in the Obama Admin in 8 years. The Trump Admin? Mere months...

Drain the swamp indeed...

Is this the winning Trump promised Americans? So much winning? Indictments?

Dave and Clearwater, I just checked a couple of far right news sites and blogs, and they're all whining about Presidernt Obama (one claims his was THE MOST CORRUPT! presidency) and HIllary Clinton. LOL!

Yes, they're in that river in Egypt, for sure. And that, my friends, is why we are so divided. 30% of the voting public refuses to admit they voted for an incompetent, morally repulsive and probably corrupt man to head our country.

But they can't, however, escape what today's reality is.

Conspiracy against the United States...

From the campaign manager of the Trump Campaign.

Let's just imagine for a moment the outcry from the extremists had this been Mook or Axe...

Still trying to figure out what this has to do with the russia investigation. They are being indited on something that happened in 2006. If they are guilty of a criminal offense then they should go to jail but this does seem to be an overreach for herr mueller.
A large portion of that 30% didn't vote for trump but against -H-. The ugly truth is we were give little choice in last election and the lessor of the two evils won. I do not believe BHO was corrupt, incompetent yes but not corrupt.

I realize the indictments are the big news but it's worth noting that the administration has used the attention to deflect from the news of the withdrawal of the Whitefish energy contract in Puerto Rico.

Drain the swamp

Skud... Trump hired ppl actively working against the interests of the US...

And this is just the first wave. Let's see how cavalier you are when Donald Jr, Jared and the rest of this group start getting arrested.

Is this the beginning of the end of the Trump administration? I sure hope so. I'm praying this blows up and stymies any movement by Congress to pass Trump's YUGE tax cuts. What they call "tax reform", but (as per usual) will primarily benefit the wealthy. And, according to Paul Gambles, could tip America into recession and possibly bring about another Great Depression.

Dave Miller said...

Duck... was the admin involved in the cancellation? I thot it was just the Gov of PR...

I do wonder if that will get Zinke...

All this winning must be killing them...

I'm guessing the Mothership will be discussing the weather tomorrow... anything but this.

Skud, have you forgotten about Don Junior's meeting with Russians and his reply to an email from a Russian agent that told him he had "dirt" on Hillary Clinton to which Don Jr. replied, "I love it!" That's a crime. Manafort and Kushner were in that meeting. Mueller is not finished. Today's indictments are just the beginning.

Dave Miller is correct, if these indictments were about any one of President Obama's campaign people, you and the rest of the crowd you associate with would be screaming bloody hell for Mr. Obama and the whole lot of his campaign associates to be put in jail. Instead you're saying NBD! Really?

"Conspiracy against the United States." That's associated with Trump and his campaign. And NOT Hillary Clinton.

We have to remind the hyenas who scream "LOCK HER UP!" of that fact every single day as these indictments come down.

Watch for my afternoon post that lays out which party has had more indictments and people sent to jail.

Dave See above.

Ducky, what are the usual Trumper blogs saying about this? And about the Whitefish scam?

Error: " That's a crime."

Should have read: "That's a POTENTIAL crime."

George Papadopolus, trumps ex foreign policy adviser pleads guilty to lying to FBI. This news goes straight to Russian involvement.

PM Carpenter:

As the NY Times reminds us, "Mr. Manafort has expected charges since this summer, when F.B.I. agents raided his home and prosecutors warned him that they planned to indict him. That warning raised speculation that Mr. Manafort might try to cut a deal to avoid prosecution." Oh, might he ever.

Ty Cobb, one of Trump's criminal defense attorneys, countered that "there were no concerns that Mr. Manafort would offer damaging information about the president in exchange for a deal." Would, or could?

Trump has "denied any contacts with Russians during the campaign, only to have journalists uncover one undisclosed meeting after another," such as Trump Jr.'s long-concealed meeting, attended by Manafort, with a "Kremlin-connected Russian lawyer" who was offering campaign smears against Hillary Clinton.

Aside from his former boss, Manafort is the king of sleaze who will soon serve up oodles of damaging information about the president, because that's what consummate sleazes honestly do to save their own hides, as the ship is going down. For Trump's criminal organization, this is the end of the beginning.

***

p.s.: Politico reports that "a former foreign policy adviser to President Donald Trump's 2016 campaign," George Papadopolous, "secretly pleaded guilty earlier this month to lying to the FBI about his outreach to Russian officials."

Meanwhile, the rabid right wingers are howling at the moon that the Democrats are corrupt and dirty. Yes.

Group hysteria and delusional psychosis now defines the GOP. They're drowning in it.

The Trump administration, FAUX News and other right wing news outlets, as well as right wing weblogs will no doubt all be stepping up their manifest distractions.

It's going to get real nasty as Trump and HIS party begin to completely unravel. We await the undoing of the most corrupt President in modern US history.

Shaw Kenawe said...

RN, there are still many many people who believe that if only #45 would act more "dignified" all his troubles would be over. Talk about hoping to put lipstick on a pig!

The point is that Manafort probably has information about collusion between the Trump campaign and the Putin regime, if such collusion happened. Indicting Manafort creates leverage over him to compel him to testify. This is equally true regardless of whether the charges against Manafort have any connection with Trump at all.

That's the way these things are normally done. Catch and charge the little fish to get them to provide evidence against the big fish.

I don't get the point of the "Herr Mueller" reference. Implying there's something un-American about him because his name suggests German ancestry? Donald Trump is also the grandson of a German immigrant.

Shaw Kenawe said...

Infidel753, Goopers are doing all they can to trash Mueller, which is insane since he's a Vietnam war hero, well educated, honorable, and clean as a whistle. Everything the Goopers' president is not.

Les Carpenter said...

Which explains why they are trashing him. There is absolutely zero legitimate reason to do so. But, for the Goopers there doesn't need to be.

In my post @1127 I meant to say the I do not believe BHO was corrupt, -H- absolutely but not BHO.
The biggest difference in attitude is liberals think republican politicians are bad and democrats are good. They are, democrats and republicans, all lying conniving crooks who only look out for their personal best interest. How can I spend the taxpayers money to benefit me and how can I get more. Herr Mueller had a scope of investigation and that was russian involvement in the -H- massive defeat. Going back to 2005 is not in that scope but if he finds someone did something illegal, he should recommend prosecution. If he finds that BJC and -H- used their "charity" to fund their personal lifestyle and give their daughter a job, he should prosecute.

BTW 753, Herr is mister in German so it was not disrespectful
David, who should benefit from a tax cut? The poor don't pay taxes and the 1% pay 70% of all taxes. The middle class gets screwed. Eliminate all deductions including charitable contributions, mortgage interest and RE taxes and you will punish the rich more than anyone else. Go to a Fair Tax system and get politics out of it.

Infidel753 said...

BTW 753, Herr is mister in German so it was not disrespectful

I never said it was. Why use a foreign word for "Mister" when talking about an American? Are you implying there's something un-American about him?

Dave Miller said...

Skud... I don't know where your tax question comes from. I looked back over my 4 comments here and see no mention of taxes, but I'm more than willing to have the discussion.

I'm not sure any taxes need to be reduced.

Also, I regret that Dems are scared of saying that. If I was running, I'd probably open up my campaign like this...

Everyone wants lower taxes, but let's be honest, it ain't gonna happen. We need more money to rebuild Americas Infrastructure, which will provide millions of jobs to blue collar workers, we need more money to invest in new technologies to grow our country and economy into the future and we need to more money to make sure Americans have health insurance and can retire with at least a basic sustainable income.

President Eisenhower presided over the building of America. We grew, our economy exploded and we moved forward.

Let's return to the tax rates we had then and reinvest that money in America.

Be honest, be upfront and be bold. Your fair tax will not give us the money we need to balance the budget, won't rebuild our infrastructure and will take money from the pockets of the poorest Americans. We can, and should do better.

skudrunner said...

David I meant Dervie, sorry to implicate you.
David instead of raising taxes why not control abuse and use that money to fund infrastructure. Granted a lot of people would have to get jobs because their government supplied paycheck would shrink. Instead of raising taxes eliminate all deductions and file your taxes online. It would be so simple to have three brackets and you pay a percentage of the bracket you are in. Or go to a higher tax but have it a consumption tax. Again zero deductions because the bad people in this country are the wealthy and they use deductions to drive down their taxes.
This may have an affect on charities and churches but if you want to give it should be to help others not to take advantage of a tax deduction. If you want to live in an expensive house in an overtaxed state that is a personal choice.

Les Carpenter said...

If you expect or want government services, state or federal, you should be willing to pay for them.

It is interesting that the folks who often bitch the most and loudest about taxes also bitch the most and loudest about government not doing enough to maintain or improve service or the infrastructure.

Yes there is waste and misuse of tax dollars. This should be addressed certainly. However I for one don't see that happening in a rational sensible way until politicians and special interests stop politicizing the issues (problems).

Truth is difficult to find with the explosion of the "Age of Information" and the super high speed highway known as the internet. There is as much garbage data and unethical purveyors of fake news as there are ethical and legit sources speeding down the lanes of the internet. Unfortunately some folks too often choose to accept the false rather than researching to find the truth.

Misinformation is dangerous and there are political, social/cultural, and economic special interests working around the clock to influence and eventually gain control.

The more things change the more they stay the same. History indeed instructs that it is likely to remain this way. Probably forever.

RN, Agree everyone should pay their fair share of taxes. Does someone who pays millions in taxes get better roads than someone who paid zero. Does someone who pays the 4428 a month in Medicare get better benefits than the person who pays $128. In essence the successful pay more than their fair share. The ones who don't pay their share are the 48% Romney crowd.
