Moore Thoughts on the Alabama Special Election

Incredibly, the Trumpistas still believe Roy Moore was a great candidate who would have won except for the "Enemedia" who went after this sterling example of a great American.

Here's what makes him so admired by the current GOP:

. He broke the law TWICE when he was a Alabama supreme court justice and was thrown off the court.

. He said Muslims should not hold political office in the U.S.

. He's compared the LGBT community to beasts

. He believes 9/11 was caused because America turned away from God.

. He sided with former Communist head of the KGB, Putin, in opposition to gay marriage

. He believes parts of the U.S.A. are under Sharia Law.

. He had no idea what the Dreamer Act was when asked in a interview

. He doesn't believe President Obama was born in America

. He was credibly accused (with meticulous reporting) of molesting teenage girls when he was a 30+-year-old man.

That describes where the current GOP is. Go to any far right news site like Breitbart or read any far right blog and understand that 30% of American voters consider this deplorable extremist a fine example of an American who should have been seated in the U.S. Senate.

The far rightie Trumpistas blame the media, the "swamp," for Moore's loss, and the women who came forward with their stories of Moore's alleged sexual abuse, claiming it was "normal" for men to approach children for sexual favors, even marriage, because that was southern culture in the 1960s. These are the same hypocrites who fall on their fainting couches and are the first to scream at liberals "HYPOCRITE!" when reports are published about how extremist religious Muslims force child marriages.

Roy Moore lost because he was a disgraceful, discredited, lawless, alleged child molester who, while acceptable to the current Republican Party, was so horrid a candidate that he lost to a Democrat in the reddest of red states.

Will the current Republican Party ever understand that America was repulsed by the circus that was Roy Moore's candidacy? No. They're too far gone into madness for that.

Moore would have won were it not for the 98% of African American women and 92% of African American males who voted Jones.

Caucasian males and females voted overwhelmingly for Moore.

For Trumpians the media reporting truth automatically disqualifies it as legitimate reporting or news.

More popcorn, cracker jacks, and beer.

I'm struggling to respond to all of this situation around Moore, and by extension Trump.

We know all of what you've posted regarding Moore to be true because we can essentially see Moore in his own words and we have a court record. That these charges are factual is not even debatable. One can disagree with whether or not Moore's stances are best for America, but they cannot dispute that he has not said these things, or held these views.

Today the WAPO published a massive article detailing interactions within the Trump White House. If only half of what was printed is accurate, Houston, we've got a real problem.

We've jettisoned, through demonization, the adults from the political process. No more are people like Daniel Moynihan, Howard Baker, Bob Dole and Tip O'Neill willing to invest their lives to work in such a hyper partisan win at all costs environment.

There's no way a man like Moore or Trump would have gotten even a passing glance at legitimacy just a few back.

Our tribalism is killing us from within.

Re the Moore/Jones contest, the WP says that White college graduates went 57% for Moore, while Whites without a college degree went 77% for Moore. Additionally, "Moore held a small edge among white women with college degrees" (45 to 52). Moore did better than Trump in this demo. (!!) Stranger yet, the WP says Moore got 2% of the voters who identify as Democrats... perhaps on the abortion issue??? (and 14% of people who identified as "Liberal" voted for Moore !!!!). BTW, 8% of Moore voters said the allegations were "definitely or probably true" but voted for him anyway.

Dave, yes, the tribalism is tearing US apart, but it was Bannon -- a scurrilous gnome if there ever was one -- who orchestrated the mess that was the Moore candidacy for the GOP. Luther Strange or Mo Brooks would have walked away with the win had either of them been the GOP candidate. Instead, Bannon foisted Moore on the Alabama voters; and Trump, who's as useless as a brain in a bunion, merrily went along and enthusiatically endorsed Moore. Knowing nothing about politics or human decency, Trump though Moore was a great choice.

Anon, perhaps you're as naive and clueless as the GOP's president. When a brand new president is in office for less than a year and a special counsel charges that new administration with 4 indictments, 2 of which are felonious, is continuing the investigations of possible obstruction of justice and a hostile foreign governments interference in the election that put him in office; when that brand new president is polling at the LOWEST APPROVAL NUMBERS in modern presidential history, when that brand new president has 19+ women accusing him, a self-identified sexual assaulter, of sexual harassment and worse, and when as the leader of his party he saw the GOP lose very, very badly in the recent special elections in New Jersey and Virginia, and when this week the state of Alabama that Trump won by, what? 20+ points a year ago VOTED FOR A DEMOCRAT for the first time since the 1990s! that is an avalanch of evidence that this country understands that it made a horrible mistake in putting Trump in the Oval Office.

Folks like you and the rest of the 30% of the voting public don't ubderstand any of this. But then, you didn't understand what a malignant horse's ass Trump is when you made him POTUS.

No, the Alabama election was NOT like winning the presidency, Anon. But it certainly is knowing how badly Trump is losing his grip on the American people. And for that we celebrate!

Dervish, you read the far right news sites and blogs. You know that even if Moore had raped a goat and married his mother, the Trumpistas would have still voted for him because he's a fake Christian and a fool. Their kind of candidate.

I was listening to an interview yesterday with a GOP Congressman from Alabama, Bradley Byrne. One thing caught my ear as he was saying that Jones will lose his seat in 2010. [Probably true] He stated that he voted straight Republican, "as required by the pledge he signed" in loyalty to the GOP.

In other words, no matter what, no matter how bad the candidate, no matter how repulsive, at least in the GOP, they must support their candidate. It seems tribalism is baked into the party and their rules.

BTW... as for Mo Brooks, he of good living people don't get sick, has apparently been diagnosed, through a routine medical exam provided for most of us through Obamacare, with cancer. Since they found it early, I assume he will be around for awhile, but he should probably clean up his lifestyle. And thank God for the ACA.

Right before he votes to repeal it again.

So Ms.Shaw, you think the whole political world was turned upside in favor of progressives because Alabama voters were dumb enough to run the worst possible candidate? That's one he'll of a straw you are grasping.

Anon wrote: "So Ms.Shaw, you think the whole political world was turned upside in favor of progressives..."

Don't tell me what I think. You obviously didn't read my answer above to your first comment.

What happened in Alabama Tuesday night has nothing to do with what I "think," but what has happened. Your president enthusiastically backed a child molester, a law breaker, and an all around nutcake. And Alabama rejected Moore and Trump. Fact. Not what I "think." That's some sort of a record for a brand new administration. Trump has no standing with the American people, not even the people in the state he won by 20+ points in 2016. Once Americans got to really know him, they realized what a horrible, ignorant, malignant narcissist he is. Not just Moore, but Trump was running in that election, and his own people told him to go stuff it.

Anon: "...because Alabama voters were dumb enough to run the worst possible candidate?

At Trump's 32% approval rate, it appears the GOP has a habit of running the most execrable candidates. Your snark is duly noted, and it's a fail.

Dave,I hadn't heard that about Mo Brooks. I wouldn't wish cancer on anyone, I wish him well. I wish he and his GOP weould have compassion on people who don't have the means to fight cancer that he has. I don't understand the Republicans and their obsession with throwing people off of their health care and leaving people who face fighting cancer with nothing to fight it with.

Well Ms. Shaw, if Trump was the most execrable candidate what pray tell was Hillary, after all Trump is in the oval office and she is home watching Netflix

Dave Miller said...

Here's the Tea Party Senate hit parade. These are the some of the folks the GOP has chosen to run for Senate. Sharron Angle, Christine O'Donnell, Todd Akin, Richard Mourdock and of course, Roy Moore.

Sure we're gloating a little Anon... cause we know Bannon will back a few more like these losers in the 2018 elections.

Well, Anon, a majority agree that Trump was and is a most execrable candidate, president, and human being. This country went a bit insane when it elected this self-admitted sexual assaulter, malignant narcissist, and serial liar to the presidency. Trump is a weak, universally hated POTUS -- our closest ally, the Brits, don't even want him to visit -- imagine that!

And while Hillary may be taking long walks in the woods, Robert Mueller certainly is NOT. And for that a nation is eternally grateful.

Dave those Goopers who ran for office are perfect examples of how insane the GOP is.

Dave Miller said...

Bottom line? The GOP supported someone the Supreme Court of ALABAMA found to be manipulative and a law breaker.

Not some liberal court, the SC of ALABAMA... one of the deepest red states in the country.

It's not just our opinions, it Roy Moore's own peoples opinion that he was not fit to serve.

Although I will miss the trauma he brought to the GOP.

Shaw, your Anonymous troll is strangely silent after your last comment to him. He and his fellow Trumpanzees actually think The Orange Clown is liked by the American people? I guess to them all the polls that show him sinking like a lead balloon are fake and that tRump is loved by Americans. He's down to 32% approval. We need to get him down to 28%, and then it'll be easier to kick his sorry ass out of office -- that is, after Mueller cuffs him!

Anon - Hillary said she wouldn't run for office again, not that she was done with politics. Thanks to Hillary's organizations many women who wouldn't have considered politics are now Running For Something.

Progressives are looking for Justice. That should make many a Conservative shake in their pull-up boots.

Ms. Shaw, all your anti Trump rants seem to be based only on the presidents perceived personality flaws, never on his policies. One could say that was a wee bit shallow

Shaw Kenawe said...

Anonymous, my posts are NOT "rants."

Because you are a Trump supporter, you perceive my reporting the facts about him as "rants."

Trump's policies? Taking away health care from millions and millions of American men, women, and children is not a winning policy. Pulling out of the Paris Climate Accords leaving American in the company of countries like Yemen? A great policy? Poking the hornet's nest that is North Korea, calling their leader "Rocketman" and other demeaning names is what a 10-year old school yard bully does.

Trump backed Luther Strange, Strange lost. Trump then gave his full-throated support to Roy Moore. Roy Moore lost. Trump backed not one, but TWO losers. Tired of all his winning, Anon?

Trump and his administration is under FBI investigation for possible obstruction of justice and working with a hostile government to win the 2016 election. Plus 19+ women have accused him of sexual abuse and harassment.

You support all of that?

A majority of Americans do not. You are a distinct minority that is unable to see what is in front of your nose.
