Here's how the Goopers hang onto power in election years

Report: Indiana Has Cancelled The Voter Registrations Of 469,000 Voters

via Daily Kos:

THEY CHEAT:

As secretary of state, Kemp oversees voting and voter registration rules for his own election. (He’s refused to recuse himself.) He appears to be using his position to try shape Georgia’s electorate to his advantage. According to an analysis by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Kemp allowed 214 voting locations — nearly 8 percent of the state’s total — to be closed in the last six years.

Worse, The Associated Press recently reported that, under the guise of “voter roll maintenance,” Kemp’s office has canceled more than 1.4 million voter registrations since 2012, and nearly 670,000 registrations in 2017 alone, ostensibly to guard against voter fraud.

Further, 53,000 new voter registration applications are “on hold” at Kemp’s office. [...]

The A.P. reported that almost 70 percent of the registrations that are now on hold are for African-American voters. (Kemp has blamed sloppy work by the New Georgia Project for the holds. His office told The A.P. that voters whose registrations are in limbo can cast provisional ballots.)

AND THIS:

Jay Michaelson at The Daily Beast writes about the Republican’s plan of voter suppression for the midterms:

A review by The Daily Beast found at least five voter suppression practices in active use today. All are led by Republicans, all have disproportionate impact on non-white populations, and all are rationalized by bogus claims of voter fraud.

They include:

Closing polling places in communities of color

Purging eligible voters from the rolls without their knowledge

Barring felons from voting

Voter ID laws

Eliminating early voting

Each one of these alone is troubling. In the aggregate, though, they paint an unmistakable picture of Republican efforts to hold onto power in an increasingly non-white nation by making it harder for non-white people to vote.

These are the tactics thugs in totalitarian countries use to keep or steal power. The GOP is the party of thugs, cheats, and liars, just like the leader of the party.

Shaw... you completely left out the Daily Beast headline...

"Republicans Have a Plan to Win the Election: Cheat"

I was surprised you seemed to have missed the surprise development of the day...

Now that there's a GOP President, it's okay to have a rapper in the White House, to have him swear, not take his hat off etc. And, and this is the big surprise, it's not disrespecting the office like it supposedly did when Pres had rappers there or he worked without his suit coat on.

If there's any more evidence of the this crowds hypocrisy, we're just gonna have to wait til tomorrow.

Dave, I was in a rush this morning. I teach on Fridays.

The Goopers are proud, unabashed hypocrites whose hero, Trump, is a man they would have kicked to the gutter if he didn't have a fake "R" after his name. Now that he's in office, they forgive him and accept in him every moral failing they detested in Bill Clinton.

How eagerly they sold their souls to the Devil.

Melania Trump says President Trump's alleged affairs are 'not concern and focus of mine'

Well, that's comforting to know, innit? I'm sure all the Gooper Christian ladies are happy to hear a wife admit that her husband's many infidelities are nothing to concern herself with. As long as he gives the 1% tax breaks and promises to put Hillary in jail!

Please, Gooper Christian Ladies, pass this on to your daughters, and remind them that if they marry a man who serially cheats on them, it's not anything to be upset about.

How proud the Christian Goopers are of that morally rotten pig in the White House they admire.

Screw the 7th Commandment!

Literally.

Let’s not forget how bullied she is... I’m

They have a slick method to deny Democrats the vote in North Dakota.
The voter law requires identification which must include a street address.
Wel, it turns out that two large democratic voting blocs, native americans and students, don't have residential street addresses so, no vote for them.

Gerrymandering and voter suppression while the hypocrites scream about nonexistent voting fraud.
That's today's rethug party but I'm sure Gorsuch and Kavanaugh will get right after this injustice.

America is a progressive country and the only way the present GOP hangs onto power is by voter suppression, gerrymandering, and cheating.

A majority of Americans do not like the GOP or their horrendous president.

Imagine if President Obama had hosted Kanye West at the WH and the Goopers heard West say "motherf*cker."

Are the Geezus hypocrites outraged at what happened yesterday?

Shaw Kenawe said...

Dave, Michelle Obama kept her dignity and forbearance while the GOP slandered her. There are particularly loathsome worms at the WYD blog who constantly depicted Mrs. Obama as a gorilla.

Michelle Obama will be remembered in American history books as a gracious and wonderful role model for American girls and women. I'm pretty sure Melania will not. For obvious reasons.

Kanye West is not a "dumb Negro," or a "token Negro." Kanye West is a guy with a bi-polar disability who was plainly off his meds. Trump, who doesn't know better about anything, should never have allowed West to go on a bi-polar rant and embarrass himself in front of the country. I'm not surprised that the Assh*le-in-Chief has no common sense or empathy for a sick person.

Trump hosted a shameful display in the O.O. while the people in Florida panhandle suffered horrible disaster.

Trump is a horrible disaster.

Remember when the pubescent pres kept spoonfeeding his lackeys:
"Can you believe that, with all of the problems and difficulties facing the U.S., President Obama spent the day playing golf.Worse than Carter" ?
The current count shows that at this time in their presidencies, Obama had hit the
links 54 times - Trump has been golfing 119 times. To paraphrase the imaginative
imbecile 'worse than Tiger Woods'. The letters on the lackey hat apparently stand for MAGA- Malfeasant Actually Golfs A lot. Heplays golf like he runs his businesses and the oval office.

I'm not surprised one iota. He's a liar and a cheat and he belongs to the GOP.

Dave,. if you read some of the far right bloggers, you'll learn that it is the Democrats that are liars and cheats when it comes to voter suppression and fraud. They never look at what the GOP does and is doing to suppress the vote.

Dervish Sanders said...

The ONLY kind of cheating republicans think is occurring is that perpetrated by Democrats. The biggest source of Dem cheating would be the millions of illegal alien votes. That is per tRump. I think Kris Kobach told him. Everything they do (in their minds) is to curtail Dem cheating.

I guess Dave Miller is convinced now? Unless he thinks GOP cheating is a new phenomenon. I refer to his comment "Dervish... what fraudulent means? I've seen no one credible saying there was any fraud in this election" (12/8/2016, RNUSA).

No comment from RN (yet). I wonder if he has changed his mind. He wrote (following Dave Miller's comment, then one by me where I say tRump won by cheating) "Is there an unbiased independent confirmation of this?".

It seemed that nobody believed me at the time. I told my own father (who voted for Hillary) that tRump won by cheating... and he didn't buy it.

Dave Miller said...

Shaw... that's because the news you are reading is 100% false, not to be believed, made up, untrue, a sham, BS.

SO everything bad you're hearing about the GOP and Pres Trump doesn't exist in their minds.

We are the deceived ones for believing all this stuff.

gaslighting to the max...

Dave Miller said...

Dervish... nice.

I know you won't like to hear it, but we're still a long ways from real evidence of voter fraud from either side. There are plenty of allegations, but little real adjudicated evidence. Lots of charges, but little real evidence.

Now, if and when we see Mueller's report, perhaps we will see something, but I caution libs from hoping for something definitive as it regards to collusion with the Russians from Donald Trump to influence the election. I'm sure we're gonna see lots of bad stuff, but collusion?

Who knows.

Now, is the GOP actively working to disenfranchise people? It certainly looks like it. Is that fraud? By a strict definition, I don't think so.

Your comment belies where you and many progressives stand. You guys don't seem to like guys like me because we are not perceived to be all in as it relates to Dem and progressive policies. It is that attitude that has torn the GOP apart and I fear may do the same with the Dems.

Is 80% agreement enough? It's not looking like it.

Sadly.

It's our own processes and laws that create the corruption that is causing this voting imbalance.

When we allow the political parties themselves to set voting districts that's built in corruption. That can be changed.

The Electoral College is a mathematical system that was biased when our founding fathers wrote it and that bias changes as our population changes and moves around. That can be changed.

The Census numbers have been politicized since the first Census by politicians for their own benefit. That can be changed.

The Democrats had the Electoral College edge for most of the 20th century, because they were in the majority most of the time, not only on the federal level, but also on the State level. The Republicans have had the Electoral College edge since at least 2000 and will on going until the people change that through their votes.

It's no surprise given the mathematics that sooner, or later we would have a presidential winner that would not win the popular vote. To eliminate the Electoral College is only part of the equation. If we don't eliminate the gerrymander system at the same time we will still get a biased vote count.

Your State sets voting rules. That should be changed, especially for federal elections.

When we hear about judges deciding voting rule arguments we have to remember how important federal judge appointments are. If Kavanaugh wasn't a reminder consider that twice in the last three months Democrats allowed 15 (that's 30) lifetime federal judicial appointments go through without the Senate rule of 30 hours of debate on each appointment. The Democrats, both times, said their reason for passing the debate time on these judicial appointments was because it was more important that their legislators got home to their districts. I wonder what kind of scum got through because of no debate and not looking closely enough at these people?

We can change most of what makes our voting system biased. We cannot change the gullibility of American voters, or the residual racism and hate that resides in the American people.

So what percentage do these things effect an election? Certainly when the popular vote does not reflect the winner, our system is broken.

Russians telling enough lies to change Americans thinking is different than Russians actually hacking voting machines and creating a false vote.

All the money we spend on political ads is intended to change a voters thinking. Where that money comes from, or who it comes from is important for American voters to know. Of course, the rules of money in elections can also be changed.

Many of these changes would require amendments to the Constitution. That's an approval of 2/3's of the States, the Congress, the president, and winning any legal objection brought before the biased Supreme Court. Good luck with that.

Re Dave Miller writing "I know you won't like to hear it, but we're still a long ways from real evidence of voter fraud from either side"... If you've decided to continue to be wrong about the blatant GOP cheating (aka election fraud) there is nothing I can do about it. I'd say that instead of not liking it, it's more that I don't understand it. In any case, 80 percent agreement is enough. We need as big a tent as we can get to beat tRump. For example, I'll be voting for Conserva-Dem Phil Bredesen to represent TN in the Senate.

BTW, Dave, is it fake news that Indiana has cancelled the voter registrations of 469,000 voters? Did Shaw erroneously write (in her commentary) that republicans are closing polling places in communities of color, purging eligible voters from the rolls without their knowledge, barring felons (who have paid their debt to society) from voting, have passed strict voter ID laws and eliminated early voting?

He doesn't "think" that the Republicans cheat, we KNOW. It doesn't take a genius to understand that the person who heads the GOP is a cheat so the GOP would have no trouble stealing elections and suppressing the vote.

A fish stinks from the head. Trump stinks.

Shaw Kenawe said...

Dervish, Dave wrote about evidence of "voter fraud," not suppression. There is little to none evidence of voter fraud by Dems even if the Goopers have been trying to use that as an excuse to suppress the vote. Now they're suppressing the vote because they know how close the mid-terms will be, and they need to use every tool for cheating that they have. Why do you think the GOP has so many state houses? The GOP attorneys general in the state have a lot to say in voting laws and restrictions.

Shaw Kenawe said...

'Jerry, well said, well put. The GOP, like its head, has become a rogue party that cheats and deceives to retain power.

Dervish Sanders said...

Dervish, Dave wrote about evidence of "voter fraud" not suppression.

I saw what he wrote. But since he was replying to what I wrote, I assumed he was talking about what I wrote. What I wrote about was his prior RNUSA comment about there being no evidence that tRump won through fraudulent means. A big part of that fraud would be voter suppression. So, if he stands by that comment, he was writing about (and dismissing) voter supression.

I do not know why he'd write "I know you won't like to hear it" otherwise. Why would I not like to hear something I agree with? i.e. there being no voter fraud on either side but voter supression on the GO side.
