From The New Yorker:
Two weeks after the disappearance of the Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo held a cursory meeting, on Tuesday, with Saudi Arabia’s King Salman—it lasted some fifteen minutes—and then had a longer session with his headstrong young son Mohammed, the crown prince. The meetings seemed jovial. America’s top diplomat and the crown prince laughed together during a photo opportunity, a striking display of camaraderie amid increasingly gruesome stories about Khashoggi’s death—and reported dismemberment—in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul. In yet another bizarre twist, the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said, on Tuesday, that surfaces in the consulate had been repainted shortly after Khashoggi disappeared.
In Riyadh, the crown prince tried to paper over the crisis. “We are strong and old allies,” he told Pompeo, with reporters as witnesses. “We face our challenges together—the past, the day of, tomorrow.”
“Absolutely,” Pompeo replied.
President Trump seems ready, even eager, to embrace the Saudi version of events—or at least the kingdom’s pledge to investigate the saga, after it abruptly abandoned its claim that Khashoggi had exited the consulate alive. He condemned criticism of the monarchy. “Here you go again with ‘You’re guilty until proven innocent,’” he told the Associated Press in an interview. “I don't like that. We just went through that with Justice Kavanaugh and he was innocent all the way as far as I'm concerned. So we have to find out what happened."

The extremists went nuts when Pres Obama sent Iran their own money, saying we were bribing them.
I wonder how they interpret the $100 million the US got from the Saudis after a journalistic carving.
I’m guessing that’s just presidential leadership?
Sahw, I have always thought that you were somewhat Off The Wall, and now you have confirmed my thoughts.
Dave nothing Trump does, including calling women names, cheating on his wives, or making a fool of himself on the world stage, will change TrumpCultists' admiration for this abberration of a presidency. Nothing. We need to accept that TrumpCultists have embraced the very dark side of America -- Nazis, white supremacists, misogynists, child kidnappig, etc., and we need to VOTE, VOTE, VOTE!
Shaw... here's what's interesting to me. In light of the President's "Horseface" comments, even the Captain of the Mother Ship has expressed her disdain for how Trump expresses himself, his comments towards women and his tweets. But the passengers just sail on praising him and saying he'd never be effective if he didn't keep it up.
In the last election, it's popular for many on the religious right to drill it down to a binary terrible vs. less terrible choice. While I reject the logic, I understand where they're coming from. They hated HRC. The problem will be in 2020. They will still support Trump and again claim the "it was a binary choice" argument.
Except then the truth will be out front. No matter who the GOP has running, their binary argument will always be against the Dem.
Clueless or unwilling to see otherwise?
I don't know...

Dear "Lauren,"
I'm amazed that you have a thought. I was sure all you had were urges.
Sincerely,
Sahw

I checked the Mother Ship out. I appears that all a scoundrel and fraudster has to do to win the Goopers' support is to pretend to love America by hugging the flag. Meanwhile in reality, Trump is a disgrace to the Office of the Presidency; is perceived as a fool to the civilized world, and is a friend to fiends, murderers, and despots.
How that translates into "loving America" only the TrumpCultist Goopers can answer. I've given up on finding anything rational in their devotion to the immoral pig they admire.
It seems Trump has never met a despot he didn't want to coddle. What Prince Mohammed Bone Sawman did to Jamal Khashoggi is what Trump probably wishes he could do to American journalists like Mike Luckovich -- that "horseface" cartoon is perfect.
